In Chu Ge's line of sight, did Mu Xiaoting actually take off those skinny jeans on her legs?

Chu Ge felt a bit puzzled, unsure of what Mu Xiaoting was doing.

After taking off her pants, Mu Xiaoting looked at Chu Ge without averting her gaze, a slight smile appeared on her face. She stepped forward with her rain-soaked legs, slowly walking toward Chu Ge with the pants in her hands.

Chu Ge was stunned for two seconds before coming to his senses, "What... are you doing?"

"You're right, I'm indeed a burden. But even so, there are things I can do. At least, let help you bandage your feet. You've lost too much blood."

As Mu Xiaoting spoke, she tore at the crotch of her pants with all her might. Unfortunately, she wasn't that strong to begin with, had been through such fright these past days, and her pants were of good quality and drenched in rain. Even though she tried really hard, she couldn't even make a tear.

Mu Xiaoting tried two more tis, eventually shook her head helplessly and handed the pants over to Chu Ge, "Sorry, you do it. I'm really useless, can't even tear a pair of pants."

"Eh? You finally have so self-awareness, now at last admitting you're a waste?"

Looking at the smile on Mu Xiaoting's face, Chu Ge suddenly felt that she seed like a completely different person, even a bit unrecognizable. That feeling was truly one of elegance and grace, yet casual and generous, sowhat similar to when He Qing treated him as a friend.

Chu Ge joked, while Mu Xiaoting still handed the pants over to him.

Chu Ge hesitated for a mont, ultimately shook his head with a smile.

Chu Ge has always been soone who respects others. If soone treats him sincerely, he naturally responds in kind. Facing a Mu Xiaoting like this, the anger in his heart dissipated more than half, and he even felt a bit apologetic.

The saying goes, people's hearts are made of flesh, and Chu Ge is no exception.

Even though Uncle Jin said so earlier, for the current Chu Ge, being soft-hearted is definitely a weakness.

Anyway, the kit was thrown away, nothing could be done about it now. It's not entirely Mu Xiaoting's fault; it can only be said that Uncle Jin and his crew were too cautious, accounting for almost all threats. It's fortunate that Chu Ge and Mu Xiaoting are still alive.

Taking a deep breath, Chu Ge's expression softened slightly as he smiled at Mu Xiaoting and said, "You better put them back on. After all, I'm a man, and even though today wore out, with you like this, I'm not sure I can control myself."

Mu Xiaoting smiled generously and stuffed the pants back into Chu Ge's hands.

"If you put it that way, I'll take it as a complint. For a woman, making an utterly exhausted man interested is sothing to be proud of."

Chu Ge chuckled, "Didn't see it before, turns out you have a sense of humor."

Mu Xiaoting shrugged, smoothing her wet hair stuck to her forehead, revealing an even brighter smile.

"There are many things you haven't noticed. I'm not as unpleasant as you think, but unfortunately, now isn't the right ti for you to get to know better."

Seeing Chu Ge still not making a move, Mu Xiaoting stepped forward and patted his shoulder, urging with a smile.

"Co on, tear these pants apart. Consider it a consolation prize for this burden, letting feel sowhat useful. Didn't you say earlier that we still have to hide from that bunch? We don't have ti to waste, do we?"

Gazing at a Mu Xiaoting like this, Chu Ge was montarily lost in thought, finally nodded and tore the pants with a ripping sound, sitting by the side of a large tree.

Originally, Chu Ge wanted to save so fabric for Mu Xiaoting as a skirt, but she insisted he wrap his feet as tightly as possible, even squatting down to roll the pant legs around his feet, completely using up all the fabric.

At this point, Chu Ge finally felt a bit embarrassed. After all, Mu Xiaoting was the daughter of a provincial party secretary, being able to do such a thing truly deserved the term "remarkable."

Having seriously completed the bandaging, Mu Xiaoting tied a knot in the fabric, stood up, and generously extended her hand to pull Chu Ge up, "Alright, try it out and see how it feels?"

Chu Ge got up and walked a couple of steps, turned his head and smiled, "Not bad technique. With what you did, I indeed feel much better."

Hearing Chu Ge say this, Mu Xiaoting suddenly rembered the concocted words he had previously used to divert their captors' attention, her expression turned slightly conflicted, but she said nothing.

Chu Ge, at this mont, also recalled the sa matter, and hurriedly changed the subject, "Alright, let's go. Let's find a more hidden spot to hunker down for the night and leave here when it gets light."

"Hmm." Mu Xiaoting nodded, following in Chu Ge's footsteps as they walked deeper into the woods.

But after walking less than a hundred ters, Mu Xiaoting was already struggling.

Kidnapped for the past two days, she'd been in constant fear. Li Zheming and his group did give her so food and water, but she barely ate or drank. Plus, she almost drowned in the water just a while ago. She didn't have much energy left.

Her legs now felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, her bare feet pained by the pebbles and sand on the ground. Worse still, it was so dark now, being in the forest, she couldn't clearly see the path ahead, stumbling with every step, nearly falling several tis.

The sound of raindrops tapping "tat-tat" on the leaves felt like the only sound left in the world, making Mu Xiaoting's heart shiver with fear. She even thought the trees around her were becoming terrifying.

Under the influence of such emotions, she gradually felt as if there were eyes hidden in the darkness, watching her from all directions, as if soone might suddenly co out to chase her at any mont. She couldn't help but beco increasingly afraid.

The only thing that could make her feel a bit more stable was the man beside her, the man she once felt deep disdain and disgust towards, Chu Ge.

But even so, Mu Xiaoting gritted her teeth and kept silent, following Chu Ge, because she knew very well that while she was tired, Chu Ge was even more tired; her feet hurt, but Chu Ge's hurt even more.

Because of her willfulness, she had nearly cost Chu Ge his life. How could she have the right to be afraid now? What right did she have to complain about pain and exhaustion?

She wanted to say sothing to Chu Ge to distract herself, but after hesitating several tis, she still didn't speak. She had a belly full of questions but didn't know where to begin.

She hoped Chu Ge would take the initiative to say sothing to her first, but Chu Ge only quietly observed the surroundings, silently moving forward.

"Thud"

Under the tornt of tension, fear, pain, and regret, Mu Xiaoting finally fell to the ground when she stepped into a puddle. The pain from her knee and an indescribable sense of grievance made her nose tingle, but she bit her lip hard to stop herself from shedding tears.

Chu Ge finally stopped walking and glanced at her sideways, "Can you stand up?"

"Yes."

Mu Xiaoting nodded, forcing a smile, and tried hard to support herself on the ground. Just as she was about to stand up, a wiggling caterpillar suddenly fell from a tree onto her hand. She scread instinctively and fell back to the ground.

Mu Xiaoting wanted to cry even more but held back. She flicked the caterpillar aside and used her weakened right hand to support herself, barely managing to stand up on her wobbly legs.

"Let's go." Chu Ge smiled slightly, said just those two words, and continued forward.

Looking at Chu Ge's back, Mu Xiaoting pinched her sore nose. Even though she knew she shouldn't feel aggrieved, she couldn't control the feeling from spreading in her heart, making her want to cry even more.

Mu Xiaoting couldn't understand; she couldn't fathom Chu Ge's behavior. In her mind, after a hero saves a damsel, isn't the hero supposed to shower the lady he saved with care and attention?

Why, then, was Chu Ge silent throughout the journey?

Why couldn't Chu Ge support her as they walked?

Earlier, the atmosphere between them clearly beca more harmonious. Why did Chu Ge suddenly beco so indifferent to her, not even offering a hand when she fell?

Mu Xiaoting wanted to ask Chu Ge, but in the end, she said nothing, dragging her increasingly heavy legs to keep pace with Chu Ge.

They walked for another seven or eight minutes like this, with Mu Xiaoting falling again and again. Each ti, Chu Ge would only blandly ask her the sa question: "Can you stand up?"

Although Mu Xiaoting felt she had reached her limit each ti, driven by a deep sense of grievance bordering on spite, she would grit her teeth and say, "Yes," then muster all her strength to stand up shakily.

Finally, when she fell once more, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stand up; her whole body felt as if it had fallen apart, an unspeakable ache engulfing her.

This ti, Chu Ge finally reached out and lifted her from the ground, then crouched in front of her, "Co on up, for the rest of the way, I'll carry you."

If it had been before, Mu Xiaoting would have stubbornly said there was no need, but now she was truly too weak. Even knowing Chu Ge was certainly more exhausted than she was, she rested on Chu Ge's not particularly broad back and gently said, "Thank you."

Chu Ge stood up with Mu Xiaoting on his back and started walking steadily.

After walking a few steps, Chu Ge smiled slightly, "Tired out, aren't you?"

"Mm..."

"Do you feel really aggrieved?"

"I... Mm..."

"Do you think I'm a real jerk?"

"Mm... no."

Chu Ge turned to look at Mu Xiaoting on his shoulder and suddenly laughed.
