As the piece of paper appeared in the video window, Chu Ge felt the taxi begin to slow down, and almost simultaneously as the hand took the paper away, the taxi stopped.
"Young man, we're here."
Chu Ge knew he was still under the kidnapper's surveillance. He said nothing, pushed open the car door, and got out. The taxi driver glanced at him, muttered sothing, and drove away.
Here, it was already far from the city. Chu Ge looked around and found himself in an area full of bungalows, with a few crooked trees at the ends of the rows, and winding alleys everywhere. Ahead was the road leading to Lin County.
After surveying the terrain, Chu Ge looked down at his phone screen. The other party had already turned off the video and imdiately called him again.
"Chu Ge, after sitting comfortably in the car for so long, your stamina must have recovered quite a bit, right? Do you want to exercise again?"
Chu Ge sneered, "You have the person I'm looking for. Do I have a choice? Even if I say no, it wouldn't an anything, would it?"
"Hahaha, I like that answer. It seems you are very self-aware. This woman must be very important to you, right? Hmm?"
Chu Ge snorted, "Important, my ass. I get annoyed just seeing her. You think I want to care about her?"
The kidnapper on the other end was clearly stunned by Chu Ge's answer, hesitating for a few seconds before saying, "Then why are you struggling so hard? Do you think I'll believe that?"
"Heh, who made land in this ss? Forget it, whether you believe it or not is up to you. We're not on the sa side, and I'm too lazy to explain to you. So, what do you plan to tornt with now?"
"Good! Refreshing! I am indeed going to give you a hard ti, but before that, go to the point one ter in front of the tallest tree ahead. There's a garbage bag with a fully charged power bank inside. Take it out and connect it to your phone. We need to play for a little while longer, and I wouldn't want your phone to suddenly run out of battery halfway through."
Chu Ge walked a few steps forward and indeed found a power bank inside a black plastic bag on the ground. He connected it to the phone and couldn't help but snicker, "You've thought of everything."
The kidnapper laughed heartily, "Since my opponent is you, how can I not be thorough?"
"I can't be honored by your complint."
"Alright, now soone else will call you, and you should see him soon. But I warn you, don't try anything funny, and don't approach him. If the distance between you and him reaches fifty ters, I can't guarantee what I might do to the woman you find annoying."
With that, the call disconnected, and shortly after, Chu Ge received a call from another number. The voice had also been altered, sounding eerie, like the raspy wail of a ghost in a movie.
This ti the demand was still to run, making Chu Ge dash through the winding alleys of this bungalow area. Running, as instructed, he eventually spotted a man who was likely an accomplice of the kidnappers.
This man stood on the rooftop of a two-story building with a clear view in the distance, wearing a baseball cap pulled down low over his eyes and holding a phone, clearly surveilling and directing Chu Ge's every move.
Seeing this man from a distance, Chu Ge had a fleeting thought of capturing him to trade for Mu Xiaoting, but the thought quickly faded.
The other party had clearly anticipated this, which was why they imposed the fifty-ter distance limit. No matter how capable he was, he couldn't capture soone from fifty ters away.
Killing this person wouldn't be difficult, but doing so would be aningless.
Having been tornted for so long, even with Chu Ge's psychological resilience, he found the situation quite troubleso. The adversary's plan was calculated step by step, with each move prepared in advance. So far, there hadn't been any slip-ups, and Chu Ge was being led around by the nose.
As for making him sprint through these twisting alleys, it was obviously to further drain his stamina, tornt his mind, and cause him confusion, inducing all kinds of negative emotions that would affect his calm. Moreover, the adversary had an excellent vantage point and could use the opportunity to observe and probe if there were any other pursuers behind him.
Even though Chu Ge understood all this clearly, all he could do was keep running. He hadn't called for reinforcents, nor left any traces along the way.
Thinking about it, Chu Ge found it quite laughable. For a woman who had nothing to do with him, and who was also full of resentnt towards him, he was being toyed with to such an extent. Did he owe Mu Xiaoting sothing in a past life?
In this pitch-black night, Chu Ge kept running, constantly changing direction according to the adversary's instructions. After running for about twenty minutes, the call ended. When Chu Ge looked back at the rooftop of the two-story building, the man who had been issuing commands was nowhere to be seen.
The phone rang again, reverting to the voice that had initially contacted him.
"Go forward, turn right, there's a motorcycle and a roll of tape there. Turn on the video and fix the phone to the motorcycle, then head onto the road."
"Got it."
Chu Ge, dragging his sowhat heavy legs, turned a corner and indeed saw the motorcycle and duct tape. He followed all instructions, and once again made a video call with the sa WeChat account.
"Hehe... this ga is about to enter my favorite part. Are you looking forward to it? I certainly am! Alright, hit the road."
Taking a deep breath, Chu Ge straddled the motorcycle. Accompanied by the roar of the engine, he headed towards the road leading to Lin County.
An hour passed, and Chu Ge arrived in Lin County on the motorcycle. The opponent sent further instructions, ordering him to follow the predetermined route.
As he guided the motorcycle through a T-junction onto a road just wide enough for two small cars to go side by side and drove forward over a hundred ters, he saw a dam in the distance. In the dead silence of the night, he suddenly heard the sound of a vehicle behind him.
He turned his head to see a large truck with four wheels in the front and eight in the back blocking the intersection he had just passed. With the length of this vehicle, no other car could possibly enter unless it moved.
Just as the opponent had said over the phone previously, this so-called ga was nearing its end. He must be very close to them by now.
Sure enough, as the truck blocked the intersection, the opponent switched off the video, which had only shown a black screen, and issued new orders, "Alright, now get off, step back ten ters, and push the motorcycle to the very end of that alley."
Chu Ge wasn't surprised by the kidnapper's demand. Either soone was watching him from a distance, or there were caras set up nearby, which was why they were so aware of his every move.
Without saying much, Chu Ge obediently complied, walking into the dead-end alley. Due to the nearby buildings, the already dim moonlight barely reached here, making it feel even more eerie and sinister. A tattered magazine lay on the ground; as the wind blew, its pages rustled open.
"Now, strip off your clothes."
Chu Ge frowned, "What?"
"Oh? Can I take that as you doubting ? Although I can't see your expression, it must be fascinating, right? Hahaha!"
Listening to the sinister tone of the voice on the other end, Chu Ge exhaled sharply. Finally, without saying more, he removed his clothes piece by piece, soon left with only his underwear.
"Is this good enough?"
"Hehe, can you not understand human language? I said strip off all your clothes. Don't you think so? Hmm?"
"Fine, I'll strip."
Chu Ge took a breath, just about to act when the voice ca again through the earpiece.
"Wait, I'm so kind-hearted. Fine, I'll let you keep your underwear. I believe... hiding a grenade in your pants isn't a trick you're going to pull, hahaha!"
"Are you satisfied now?"
"No, no, no, not yet. Next to that book on the ground near you is a lighter. Use it to burn all your clothes. That might satisfy slightly."
Chu Ge felt a heaviness in his heart. Even though he never underestimated these kidnappers from the start, their ticulous and sinister plots were still beyond his expectations.
There's no denying it; their tactics are indeed worthy of being called clever. They're trying to erase any traces of him being here to eliminate any future trouble!
Chances are, once he leaves, soone will promptly co to erase all his fingerprints from the motorcycle.
"What? Unwilling? It doesn't matter. Anyway, this woman in my hands isn't all that important to you. You can easily just put your clothes back on and leave, right? I surely wouldn't care, hehe..."
"Help..."
The voices of the kidnapper and Mu Xiaoting echoed successively in his ears. Taking a deep breath, Chu Ge picked up the lighter on the ground, used the tattered magazine as kindling, and soon, a faint fla flickered in the dark alley. Then, he tossed all the clothes he had just removed into the fire.
In this deep, secluded night, with not a soul in sight, the flicker of the fla didn't attract any attention at all. Only Chu Ge's stern face was intermittently lit by the firelight, just like his current mood.
"Tsk tsk, it's been ages since I've had so much fun. Are you enjoying it? Hmm? Hehe, I shouldn't even bother asking you that. In your current state, how could you possibly be happy? Do you feel like cursing? Then go ahead, let hear your anger, ha, hahaha!"
Chu Ge remained silent, his gaze fixed on the flas in the corner, growing fiercer and fiercer, like a savage beast in the dark, devouring his clothes bit by bit, soon to turn them into ashes carried away by the wind.
