In the dead of night, Luo Suyun's room was filled with nothing but the constant ticking of the quartz clock.

Ti seed to be passing incredibly slowly, as both Luo Suyun and Shu Lulu, with the sa thought in mind, waited for the other to fall asleep first.

However, because of the previous exchange in unison, neither of them tried to probe again; they just waited silently.

Waiting and waiting, who knows how much ti had passed, Shu Lulu finally couldn't hold on any longer. Her eyelids were battling against each other, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep before Luo Suyun.

Hearing her daughter's even breathing, Luo Suyun waited another minute or two, then tentatively called out softly, "Lulu?"

There was no response.

Luo Suyun called softly a few more tis, and since Shu Lulu neither responded nor did her breathing change, Luo Suyun let out a sigh of relief. Her daughter was indeed asleep, and quite soundly at that.

Cautiously adjusting her position, Luo Suyun tried not to make any sound as she sat up from the bed. She looked at her daughter's sleeping face, filled with tension, and tiptoed off the bed. She slowly opened the bedroom door and slipped out like a thief.

"Creak"

Luo Suyun gently opened the door of Chu Ge's bedroom, taking several long deep breaths.

At this ti, Chu Ge was already fast asleep. However, his senses were very keen. When Luo Suyun opened the door without making a sound and turned her gaze towards him, he still beca aware imdiately.

"Huh? It seems like it's Luo Suyun?"

His consciousness shifted from blurry to clear, but Chu Ge didn't open his eyes, listening intently, quickly arriving at this conclusion.

"Oh dear, what's she doing here in the middle of the night? Shu Lulu is still at ho, isn't she worried about her daughter finding out?"

Listening to those increasingly close, very light footsteps, Chu Ge was practically in disbelief.

Then, Chu Ge rembered when he brought the mother and daughter back, Luo Suyun seed to want to say sothing to him along the way. But she never opened her mouth. It seems like she was waiting for Shu Lulu to fall asleep, so she ca over to say sothing?

Thinking this in his heart, Chu Ge remained motionless, pretending to be asleep, letting that obviously very nervous breathing and footsteps approach him bit by bit.

The bed moved slightly, clearly showing that Luo Suyun had sat down.

At this point, Chu Ge could no longer hold it, pretending to be just woken up and letting out a muffled sound.

"Mmm..."

This served as a buffer for Luo Suyun, preventing her from making a noise out of surprise upon discovering him awake, which could wake Shu Lulu in the other room.

If Shu Lulu woke up and heard sothing she shouldn't, it would indeed be a scene.

Sure enough, after Chu Ge let out that sleepy murmur, Luo Suyun lightly nudged him.

"Huh? Sister Luo?"

Being lightly nudged by Luo Suyun, Chu Ge knew she was ntally prepared. He pretended to have just woken up, and said in a startled whisper, as if he had been surprised.

Despite receiving the buffer, and Chu Ge's voice being already low, because her daughter was sleeping in the next room, Luo Suyun hastily made a gesture for silence, "Shh..."

"Sister Luo, why did you co over?"

Chu Ge asked this, finding it quite amusing internally. What are you gesturing for? Don't I know I have to keep quiet at this ti?

"I wanted to tell you sothing."

Chu Ge nodded, "Go on."

Luo Suyun curled her lips into a smile, "I just wanted to tell you that I miss you."

Chu Ge felt a bit awkward, raising his hand to scratch his head, "Sister Luo, can I ask you a question?"

Luo Suyun looked slightly puzzled, wondering what Chu Ge ant by this, "What question?"

"Have you heard the fable of the wind and the sun?"

Luo Suyun was puzzled again.

Chu Ge continued, "Sister Luo, well, I'm pretty tired."

Luo Suyun felt even more awkward. She didn't expect to sneak over and hear such words from Chu Ge.

Obviously, Chu Ge didn't want to have any more entanglent in their relationship...

"Uh... you're already very tired, really, I didn't have anything serious, just joking with you earlier."

Finished speaking, Luo Suyun suddenly bit Chu Ge's shoulder, and at the sa ti, a phone ringing suddenly echoed.

In this quiet night, the phone ringing was inexplicably loud and sudden. Not to ntion Luo Suyun, even Chu Ge was startled, thinking who could have nothing better to do than to call at such a ti in the middle of the night?

Originally wanting to chat with Chu Ge, Luo Suyun decided to leave. The incessant phone ringing would undoubtedly wake Shu Lulu, so as Chu Ge picked up the phone, she hurried out of the bedroom and returned to her room.

Luo Suyun opened the bedroom door and saw Shu Lulu already sitting up in bed, rubbing her eyes and looking over sleepily.

"Mom? Did you go out?"

"Ah... I just went to the bathroom." Luo Suyun forced herself to sound calm as she explained, then climbed into bed and snuggled under the covers.

"Who would call Uncle in the middle of the night like this, are they crazy? So annoying!"

Since the lights were off, Shu Lulu didn't notice the unnatural look on her mother's face. She yawned and muttered irritably to herself.

"Who knows, let's not worry about it. Just go back to sleep."

Shu Lulu responded with a soft "mm," and lay back down. She was really too sleepy now to think about sneaking over to find Chu Ge.

Besides, she had only thought about it montarily anyway, since she wasn't as bold as Luo Suyun. Even if Luo Suyun did fall asleep, she likely wouldn't dare to go.

Of course, she would never have imagined that her mom hadn't gone to the bathroom at all.

"Mom, can I ask you sothing?" Shu Lulu said, still half-asleep and groggy at this point.

"Mm... Mm? Wha... What?" Noting her daughter hadn't imdiately continued sleeping, Luo Suyun, feeling guilty as if she had been caught stealing, replied hesitantly, her words stamring involuntarily.

"Eh? Mom, why are you stamring? Is it...?" Shu Lulu mumbled in confusion, causing Luo Suyun's heart to start pounding anxiously. Could it be that her daughter had discovered sothing?

While Luo Suyun's heart was in her throat, she heard Shu Lulu continue, "Mom, be honest, are you secretly..."

Feeling the teasing and lighthearted tone in her daughter's voice, Luo Suyun tensed up even more, her heart was now hanging by a thread.

"I... I secretly did what?"

Shu Lulu giggled, "Did you secretly go... to have sothing to eat?"

Oh my dear girl, are you trying to scare your poor mother to death?

Luo Suyun felt a wave of relief wash over her. Just monts ago, she was so tense she could hardly breathe, and her forehead had broken out in a fine sheen of sweat. Hearing Shu Lulu struggle to say that line, her heart finally settled back into her chest.

"Yes, you caught . My girl's really sharp, I went to eat so of the cake I originally bought for you, so what? Is that not allowed?"

Shu Lulu giggled, "Sure, sure, why wouldn't it be allowed? Hehe, it's sothing you bought anyway, so what's the problem?"

"Alright, hurry up and go back to sleep." Luo Suyun patted her daughter, her fingers still trembling slightly.

"Mm... Mom, suddenly I'm not that sleepy anymore, and we haven't really had a good chat in a long while, why don't you talk to for a bit?"

"In the middle of the night, you want to talk? What's there to say?" Luo Suyun felt utterly speechless. Her daughter was truly a handful. Did she have any mood to talk right now?

"Oh co on, I just suddenly don't feel sleepy. We don't have much going on tomorrow anyway. Won't you just chat with for a little while?"

With Shu Lulu asking like this, Luo Suyun finally let out a sigh, nodded, "Alright then, what do you want to talk about? I'm listening."

"Honestly, I don't even know what I want to say. I just don't want to sleep. How about you tell a story, like when I was little?"

Luo Suyun was speechless at her own thoughts. Why was Lulu suddenly acting spoiled today? How big a girl was she now, and she still wanted to hear stories?

"Lulu, are you running a fever?"

"Co on, Mom, what fever? I just can't sleep and suddenly feel nostalgic about childhood mories. Alright, just think of it as being whimsical. Just tell a story, okay?"

Hearing Shu Lulu say this, Luo Suyun felt an inexplicable twinge of sourness in her heart. Yeah, she too often recalled the past. She and Shu Lulu hadn't had a good chat in a long, long ti. How many years had it been since she last told her daughter a story to lull her to sleep?

Luo Suyun couldn't rember. Ti had quietly slipped by, it really had been a long, long ti.

"Alright, then I'll tell you a story called 'The Wind and the Sun.'

Shu Lulu nodded, a little happiness on her face as she responded, "Mm."

Luo Suyun patted her daughter's hair and thought for a mont, recalling a fable she had told Shu Lulu when she was little, and began softly.

"The North Wind and the Sun were arguing about who had more power. They decided that whoever could make the traveler take off their coat would be the winner."

"The North Wind blew fiercely at first, and the traveler on the road wrapped his coat closer. Seeing this, the North Wind blew even harder. The travelers were shivering from the cold, and those who had more clothes put them all on themselves. The North Wind blew and blew until it finally grew tired, unwilling but also helpless, it left the task for the Sun to try."

"The Sun then gave the travelers gentle sunlight, and they removed their extra clothing. The Sun sent out even stronger sunlight, and the travelers began sweating profusely. Gradually, they couldn't bear it anymore, so they took off all the clothes they could and jumped into the river nearby to bathe."

"This story shows..."

Luo Suyun reached this point when Shu Lulu interrupted her rather frustratedly, "Shows that persuasion is often more effective than force, right? Mom, don't you think this fable is particularly silly, and completely uninteresting?"

Luo Suyun smiled bitterly in her heart. How could her daughter understand her feelings now? She was like the wind, even though she really wanted to be the sun.

anwhile, Chu Ge had already found the phone and saw the number displayed on it.
