304: Chapter 304 Bold Conjecture 304: Chapter 304 Bold Conjecture “Dr.
Qin, do we need to bring over so infected people?” Zhong ii asked sowhat apprehensively.
Just now, Qin Han had thought that Chen Yonghao was furious about using live subjects for experints.
Could it be that he intended to use live subjects as well?
Qin Han shook his head and said, “No!
We cannot use human lives for experints!”
“Ah?
Weren’t you going to test the toxicity of the plague virus?
How can we conduct experints without live subjects?” Zhong ii asked, puzzled.
“Live subject experints are necessary, but not with infected individuals,” Qin Han paused, then continued, “I will use my own body for the experint!”
Upon hearing this, Zhong ii covered her mouth with both hands, looking at Qin Han in shock.
“What did you say?
You’re going to use yourself for the experint!?
How could you!!!” Zhong ii shook her head as she spoke.
Qin Han turned back to look at Zhong ii, smiled, and said, “Only by using my own body can we obtain more accurate experintal data and understand the characteristics of the virus!”
“No way, I disagree, you are joking with your own life!” Zhong ii said anxiously.
“I also disagree, Mr.
Qin, please don’t be rash!” Ming Xizhi’s voice ca from the lab’s speaker system.
Qin Han turned and glanced at Ming Xizhi, knowing that any conversation inside the field lab could be heard by Ming Xizhi, he simply smiled and said:
“I am confident about using myself in the experint!”
“First, my body isn’t susceptible to any toxin.
I believe the plague virus won’t affect either.”
“Second, I am confident that I can suppress the virus’s toxicity.”
After hearing Qin Han’s words, Ming Xizhi still insisted, “That still won’t do; these are rely your assumptions, I disagree!”
Qin Han did not continue to argue with Ming Xizhi but casually tossed the bottle of live virus into the biohazard disposal bin.
When Ming Xizhi and Zhong ii thought that Qin Han had given up the idea of using himself for the experint, Qin Han spoke up again, “This bottle is no longer useful.
I need the latest live virus.”
“Dr.
Qin, I understand your urgent desire to save people.
I’m just as anxious as you are, but we can’t take risks just because we’re pressed for ti,” Ming Xizhi pleaded earnestly.
Zhong ii also said anxiously from the side, “Yes, Dr.
Qin, by working together we can definitely overco the epidemic.
They will be back soon, and the data will be ready shortly.”
Zhong ii was still speaking when doctors gradually started returning to the lab.
Qin Han looked up and asked, “How is it?”
“Dr.
Qin, I’m amazed; how did you think of this?” a male doctor said excitedly.
Qin Han smiled and asked, “What happened?”
“I was assigned to chat with a patient from the third phase, and after just a few sentences, he actually spoke to !!!”
“What did he say?”
“Would you like to beco one of us!
It’s utterly sci-fi, just like an alien invasion in a Hollywood blockbuster.”
Upon hearing this, Qin Han’s brow furrowed slightly, and he sighed, “The third-phase infected people are beyond saving.”
“Ah?” Both Zhong ii and the young doctor exclaid in surprise.
“Why do you say that, Dr.
Qin!”
“Because the virus has already developed its own consciousness and has taken control of the infected individuals’ brain neurons!” Qin Han said solemnly.
“How many third-phase infected individuals are there now?”
“Forty-seven!
Most are still in the second stage,” the young doctor replied.
Qin Han, upon hearing this, said no more but silently watched the small drop of blood on the microscope slide which had now turned completely black.
“Have you ever heard the theory that human beings’ evolution into higher animals is actually the masterpiece of a virus?” Qin Han suddenly asked.
The doctors from the first hospital in the temporary hospital unit stood beside Qin Han, waiting for him to continue.
“It’s quite likely that our ability to rember is due to an ancient disease.
This disease was initially caused by the invasion of an ancient virus.
Sounds unbelievable, doesn’t it?”
Everyone appeared thoughtful, digesting what Qin Han had said.
“To put it simply, it’s actually likely that at so point, the species beca infected with an ancient virus, and the virus entered the bodies of ancient organisms.”
“It beca a part of the human geno and then had a very important influence on the evolution of later humans as well as the consciousness and mory of the brain.”
“So, to be precise, human consciousness and mory capabilities are likely caused by a virus-induced disease.”
“It is speculated that human genes were invaded by such ancient viral cells perhaps 400 million years ago, but the human genes we see today have already integrated this ancient virus, becoming one with the human geno.”
“To so extent, it has gradually entered the ARC gene.”
“In fact, viruses and other invading viruses are likely to evolve into part of the human geno.
This phenonon is very likely.
Over half of human genes ford due to the invasion of ancient viruses.”
“400 million years ago, an exotic ancient virus invaded tetrapodal beings.
This virus later paved the way for the evolution of mammals and the developnt of mory and the brain, and for the ergence of our current civilization and intelligence.”
“The ARC gene within us is indeed evolving, which is very important for our thinking, mory, consciousness, and more.”
Qin Han paused for a mont before continuing, “So could this plague virus be an unknown ancient virus?
Initially, I suspected it was man-made, but the data you all collected suggests this was incorrect.”
“So I think we should look for the most direct thod.”
A young male doctor said, “The most direct thod would be live experints, but who would willingly infect themselves with the virus?
Even Chen Yonghao used those who were already infected.”
“Exactly, this virus is full of unknowns, and nobody would risk their lives on a whim.”
“Can’t we use chimpanzees instead?”
“Chimpanzees won’t work; although their genes are similar to those of humans, there are still differences.”
Zhong ii looked at the people who were talking at once and, with so concern, glanced at Qin Han.
At this mont, Qin Han was sitting quietly, his expression serene as though he was pondering sothing.
The doctors who had been talking with the first and second stage patients also all ca back.
Qin Han looked at the data they brought back and realized it did not contain anything substantive like the data from the third stage group.
He casually set the materials aside and said to everyone:
“The first issue we are facing now is how to use this dicine to delay the onset of the plague.
I’ve tried several ingredients, but all have failed.”
“Also, how to know the firsthand data.
Relying only on patients’ descriptions, we can’t really grasp the firsthand data.”
After Qin Han spoke, he looked calmly at everyone.
Everyone fell into deep thought, these two issues being the most challenging so far, and if resolved, the plague could be dealt with effectively.
Seeing that no one was speaking, Qin Han said calmly, “For the first point, I can keep trying to re-formulate, but I need your cooperation to perform a drug screening to see which prescription works.”
“For the second point, I’ll do it!”
