"Then, let get the chauffeur to send you back," said Wendy.
"I have already bought a train ticket." Zen checked the ti as she said, "My ride is at 3:30 pm. It takes one hour to get there from here. Since it is already 2:00 pm, I have to go, Wendy."
Wendy reached her hands out to embrace Zen and said with a heavy heart, "Then, let send you to the train station."
Before Zen could protest, Wendy continued, "You will have trouble hailing a cab outside the villa."
"Okay, I will take the ride, but don’t bother sending there. Your belly is getting huge. If Mr. Lucas finds out you spent two hours in the car because you sent to the train station, he might run all the way to my hotown to pick a bone with ," said Zen jokingly to help ease the tense atmosphere.
Zen let go of Wendy and inhaled deeply before she continued, "Why don’t you send to the door?"
"Uh huh," Wendy nodded.
Wendy and Zen walked over to the door together.
The servants had already brought Zen’s luggage over.
By the ti they got to the entrance, the chauffeur had already reached the door.
Zen looked at the car waiting outside before she reached out her hands and embraced Wendy one last ti.
Without saying a word, Zen turned to take her luggage and got into the car.
"Zen!" shouted Wendy as she watched Zen leave from behind.
Zen paused briefly. She turned her head to smile at Wendy and waited for Wendy to speak.
"Have you recovered your mories?" Wendy genuinely did not want to ask about it.
Her mory had recovered gradually, so she had regained mories about Zen and Christian.
It was all considered bad mories for Zen.
Even though Zen was smiling, Wendy undoubtedly caught a sad and solemn look rising in Zen’s eyes.
However, it disappeared in the blink of an eye as Zen continued smiling.
"I have partially regained my mory, but I can’t rember most of it." Zen asked rhetorically, "What about you? Have you rembered anything?"
"Uh huh," Wendy nodded. "I have regained most of my mory."
"In that case, you are better off than ," said Zen as she smiled. "It does not matter to anymore. Everything is in the past. All I want to do now is to go back to my parents and take good care of them."
"That’s right. Those things that happened in the past can’t touch you anymore," Wendy nodded hurriedly. "Say hi to your parents for , will you?"
"Sure thing," Zen nodded as well. "Thanks for taking care of them for previously.
Goodbye."
Zen watched as Wendy waved to her.
This ti, Zen genuinely turned to leave and got into the car.
Wendy finally turned to go back to the living room after the car had disappeared into the distance.
Wendy sat on the couch and could not help feeling heavy-hearted.
She knew Zen must have regained her mory.
Otherwise, Zen would not have taken so much ti to get back to Lake City. Also, Zen would not have gone back to her hotown without spending any ti here.
Zen had a real passion for designing, but she had given it all up.
Wendy could not help thinking about the past.
She thought about how they were schoolmates and worked at MC Enterprise as peers.
Also, Zen used to say she would never fall for anyone after seeing how problematic Wendy’s love life got.
However, Zen ended up falling hard.
Zen was not as lucky as Wendy.
It might have taken a long ti, but Wendy and Michael could finally enjoy their lives together.
However, Christian was forever lost, and she could never see him again.
Wendy could not help wondering what would beco of them if Christian was not a drug trafficker. What would have happened if he was still alive?
Would he perhaps fall in love with Zen one day?
Sadly, there were no ifs in the world.
...
Wendy stayed with her grandmother for two weeks. During this ti, she kept telling Wendy to go ho and just co by with the kids to visit over the weekends.
Wendy had initially wanted the children to co straight to the mansion after school and just reside here.
However, her grandmother felt bad about making the children travel so far for school.
anwhile, at night:
"Mummy..." After Leah arrived ho, she ran up in front of Wendy, raised her head, and looked at her mother miserably.
"What’s wrong?" Wendy had a bad feeling when Leah looked at her this way, so she asked imdiately, "Did soone bully you at school?"
Leah shook her head and said nothing.
"In that case, did you fail your class test?" asked Wendy as she frowned.
Jake put down both their school bags and said, "No. It is Mark."
"What’s wrong with Mark?" asked Wendy quizzically.
"Leah and Mark made plans to do howork after school, but his mother ca to school and took him ho," explained Jake. "That is why Leah is upset."
Since they were still in kindergarten, there was barely any howork for them.
Even though Leah and Mark claid to do howork, they had just wanted to hang out at the drink stall behind the school.
Leah and Jake ca ho thirty minutes later than usual two days ago because they were playing with Mark.
Mark’s mother must have caught wind of this and did not want him to stay back to play.
Wendy felt it was no big deal since Zess picked them up every day, and Jake was always with Leah.
It did not hurt for them to play a little longer.
Wendy reached her hand out to pat Leah’s head as she said, "Maybe Mark’s mother feels it is not safe for him to stay out late. It is okay. Aren’t you seeing him at school tomorrow? Also, you can always hang out with him in the the park during the weekends."
"Mark’s mother will never let him go," said Leah in a huff. "Mummy, what have I done wrong? Why doesn’t Mark’s mother like it when he plays with ?"
"That is not true. You are an absolute dear," comforted Wendy.
Wendy contemplated and changed the subject. "Oh yes. It is your grandmother’s birthday next week. Since it happens to fall on a weekend, shall we go back and celebrate her birthday with her?"
After Wendy succeeded in distracting Leah, a smile erged on Leah’s face. "Of course. I am sure she will be very happy to see us."
Before long, Michael ca ho from work.
After dinner, he took a shower.
The mont Michael got back to the room, he squatted down and placed his ear beside Wendy’s belly.
"Aren’t you bored of listening to it every day?" Wendy smiled helplessly.
"Of course not," Michael smiled when he could sense the baby moving in Wendy’s belly. "You have only two more months to go before you pop. After that, I will no longer have the chance to do this even if I wanted to."
Michael looked at Wendy’s bulging belly and touched it gently before he said tenderly, "Don’t give your mother a hard ti while you are in there. Otherwise, I will spank you on your bottom when you co out."
"Just look at you. I doubt you can bear to hit the baby," Wendy smiled as she shook her head.
Michael sat on the bed and reached his hands out to hug Wendy as he bead, "I will go for the prenatal check-up with you tomorrow."
"It is fine. The baby is developing normally without complications, so it’s perfectly fine for to handle it alone," said Wendy.
"I am still coming with you," Michael insisted. "I will go back to work after going for the prenatal check-up with you."
"Fine." Wendy accepted his offer and said, "Michael, I need to talk to you about sothing."
...
Michael automatically felt anxious when Wendy spoke in a serious tone, so he asked nervously, "What?"
"Calm down," said Wendy. "I wanted to talk to you about my mother. It is her birthday next week, so I want to go back and celebrate her birthday with her."
"It is only right that we go. We will go over with the kids when the ti cos," Michael nodded.
"Also, I want to talk to you about my grandmother..." Wendy pursed her lips before she looked at Michael and said, "I want to go to Queens City."
"That is out of the question," Michael opposed it right away. "Your belly is getting big. It takes seven to eight hours just to drive to Queens City. It is simply too far."
"We are going to Linton so that we can celebrate your mother’s birthday. Also, it is not as far as Queens City. There is no need to rush into things about going to Queens City. We can always go after you have given birth."
Linton was only three to four hours away by car. Michael could send her over in the best car in comfort. Also, she could get to rest when she arrived at Linton and spend the night there.
It was fine for Wendy to sit in the car for three to four hours.
However, Queens City was a seven to eight hours drive from here, so Michael was concerned about Wendy taking the car for so long in her condition.
"Michael, you know about my mother and family’s estranged relationship. My mother went back because of Leah previously, and my grandmother refused to forgive her," Wendy said solemnly. "This ti, I want to try convincing my grandmother to forgive my mother. It is my mother’s birthday, so I want to give her sothing aningful for her birthday."
"There are plenty of other presents you can give her. I simply can’t set my mind at ease thinking about you traveling such a long distance in your condition," said Michael worriedly. "How about I go with you after you have given birth?"
Wendy shook her head and said with determination, "Michael, I really want to go.
Don’t worry. The baby and I are in great shape. I have passed every prenatal checkup with flying colors. I even asked the doctor if I could travel by car for seven to eight hours during my last checkup, and the doctor said it was fine."
The mont he heard what Wendy said, Michael sighed and said, "Did you even ask the doctor about it? From the looks of it, you are determined to go to Queens City."
"Uh-huh." Wendy held Michael’s hand and looked at him earnestly, "I hope I can have your support."
"I really don’t want to be on your team," said Michael powerlessly. "When are you going? I will go with you."
"I am going for my prenatal checkup tomorrow, so I plan on going the day after," said Wendy. "You don’t have to co along with . I can handle it."
"Since you refused to take my suggestion, then you have no right to talk out of going," said Michael. "With around, I can buy over the family business if your grandmother refuses to forgive your mother."
Wendy did not know whether to laugh or cry when she heard this. "Are you serious?"
"Absolutely. I am so annoyed that you are going all the way there while you are pregnant," said Michael angrily.
"Enough." Wendy held Michael’s hand and said gently, "Let’s go together."
Michael reached his hand out and touched his cheek clearly demanding a kiss.
Wendy leaned over and gave him a peck on his cheek.
However, Michael unexpectedly turned his head and kissed Wendy on the lips.
Wendy felt as though she was running out of oxygen as he held her head and kissed her.
Michael finally stopped kissing Wendy and embraced her tightly.
After embracing her for so ti, he let her go out of concern it would hurt the baby.
Michael sighed before he said, "I have to live like a monk for over two more months.
Sigh."
"To be precise, you have over three months to go," said Wendy. "What about the confinent period?"
"Did you have to be so cruel? Did you have to tell about it? That is the last thing I wanted to hear," Michael covered his ears.
