Michael felt uneasy and kept following Wendy from an appropriate distance. Seeing Wendy driving back ho, Michael was thoroughly relieved. Then he sat in the car, opened the window, took out a cigarette, lit it, and clamped it in his hand.

Michael rarely smoked.

The cigarettes in his car were almost moldy. He held the cigarette in his hand without smoking it. He just lit it and quietly watched the fireworks leaping at his fingertips.

The cigarette butt kept burning until it burned Michael’s finger before he ca back to his senses.

Putting out the cigarette butt, Michael looked up at the light in Wendy’s room.

Inside it lived his loved one as well as his child. It was just that at this mont, he did not deserve to go upstairs. All he could do was quietly look from here at their lights.

....

Wendy was a little lost.

When she got ho, Jake ran to her in the turn of a hand, handed her slippers with a smile, and poured her so hot water as usual.

As a clever boy, Jake soon found sothing was off with Wendy.

When Wendy was more than upset, she would like to take a shower in the bathroom. The feeling of water on her body could make her sober and calm.

"Mummy, what is the matter?" Jake followed behind Wendy, with her little face full of concern.

Seeing Wendy walk into the bathroom, he knew that sothing must have happened.

"Mummy would like to stay alone. Jake, can you play by yourself for a while?" Wendy turned her head, forced a smile, bent down, and stroked Jake’s head. "Good boy".

Jake nodded obediently at once.

He caringly urged, "Mummy, don’t stay in the bathroom by yourself for too long on account of the poor ventilation inside."

Jake knew that the longer Wendy stayed in the bathroom, the worse things happened tonight.

"Okay," Wendy responded numbly and entered the bathroom.

As Wendy turned on the showerhead, cold water poured directly on her head. When the cold water touched Wendy’s body, she subconsciously felt a chill coming over her.

In an instant, she was a lot soberer.

Jake kept waiting outside the door, fearing that sothing might be wrong with Wendy.

Zess knew that Wendy was back but did not see her in person. After finding Jake at the bathroom door, she asked him, "Where is your mummy? I have cooked the food."

"Shhh..." Jake made a gesture and pointed to the bathroom. "Mummy is inside. You can go and take a rest. Please don’t worry about us."

Zess glanced at the bathroom and then at Jake.

Then she nodded and said, "Call if there’s anything."

Jake had been waiting at the bathroom door for almost an hour, and Wendy hadn’t co out yet Jake did not know what happened, so he dared not hurry Wendy.

However, Jake could not think of a second person who could evoke a strong emotional response upon mummy like this.

He turned around, ran to the couch to find his cell phone, and dialed Michae’s phone number.

It was the first ti Michael received a call from Jake, so his screen displayed an unknown number.

As soon as the call had been through, Jake said, "Uncle Michael, is Mummy with you tonight?"

It was a question in the indicative mood.

"Yes, is your Mummy doing well now?" Michael had been worried about Wendy’s state, but he dared not disturb her.

It was only left for Wendy to understand everything on her own and made a decision. It was likely that she might believe all Michael had told her and gradually accepted him. It was also possible that she did not believe it at all.

Michael did not know if Wendy would believe it.

All he could do was not to disturb her and silently watched her downstairs outside. Do you think Wendy will believe it?

When Michael said yes, Jake clenched his tiny fist tightly.

Sure enough, Mummy beca so emotional only when she ran into Michael’s affairs. Jake was still young, but his tone of voice is full of adult-like dissatisfaction while talking to Michael at present. "No, she is not doing well at all."

Hearing Jake’s answer, Michael held the cellphone in one hand with the other hand clenching tightly on the car window.

Tightening the hand with the cellphone, Michael raised his head and looked at the floor with the lights on. Subconsciously, Michael said, "Wait for for a mont. I will co up right away."

Michael did not want to disturb Wendy instead of giving her enough ti to calm down by herself. But when he heard that she was not doing well, Michael rely could not help it.

The next second, he opened the door and got out of the car.

Michael entered the elevator nervously, watching the numbers beating at a high frequency, just like his mood at this ti.

It was pretty panicky and disturbing.

As the doorbell rang, Jake ran to the door and opened it standing on tiptoe.

Seeing Michael’s worried look, Jake, on the contrary, stayed indifferent.

"Where is your mummy?" Michael looked inside the room but did not see Wendy.

In the next second, Michael had already stepped in.

Jake tried to stop Michael, but it was too late. He ran to Michael, blocked his way, looked up at him, and asked, "What did you do to my mummy tonight?"

Without knowing what happened tonight, Jake Would not let Michael ss around at ho. He wanted to keep His Mommy safe.

Michael did not see Wendy’s and beca more worried. But looking at the little boy in front of him, Michael had to squat down to keep the sa level with him. Then he sighed and said, "Jake, I know you are quite smart, but you are still too young to understand adults."

"Since it is So, uncle Michael, you are free to go." Jake made a please-leave gesture.

Michael did not treat him as an adult by just saying that he was too young.

Under this circumstance, there was indeed no need to continue the conversation.

"Jake..." Michael felt helpless.

He always knew that his son was quite hard to handle.

Nevertheless, how could Michael leave at ease without seeing Wendy in person?

"You tell what’s up with Mummy, and I will tell you what happened tonight. Does it sound okay?" Michael said.

"Uncle Michael, don’t try to get words out of ," Jake did not tend to back down. He said, "Al care about is my mummy. If you fail to handle it even with , how co you deserve to care about my mummy?"

Facing his smart but naughty son, Michael stretched out his hand to stroke Jake’s head. Jake avoided Michael when his hand just touched him.

Michael took his hand back in embarrassnt. Was he supposed to tell his son what happened between Wendy and him? No matter how Michael thought about it, he felt a little weird. But if he did not say anything, Michael would not know Wendy’s current state.

At this ti, Michael was really anxious. "Okay, I will tell you," Michael eventually compromised, spread his hands, and said, "your mommy had always been hating before, as she thought that I did not save her-"

"Why are you here?" Wendy heard the sounds outside and had to leave the bathroom.

Although she did not get what they had said from the bathroom, Wendy knew Michael was there.

When Wendy saw Michael squatting and talking to Jake, she had such a complicated feeling.

Hearing Wendy’s voice, both Michael and Jake turned to her at the sa ti.

Wendy had just walked out of the bathroom.

She did not dress but only wrapped herself in a bath towel. There were still water droplets on her hair. It should have been such a tempting scene, but at this ti, Michael had no intention of thinking more.

Jake ran over at once and stood in front of Wendy as if he was relieved. "Mummy, you finally co out."

Jake also had his own thoughts when asking Michael to co in. He knew that Mummy had sothing to do with Michael tonight.

Yet she stayed in the bathroom and did not co out, Jake was worried that sothing might happen.

Since it had sothing to do with Michael, Mummy would definitely co out when she heard Michael coming in.

Wendy lowered her head, glanced at her son, stroked his little head, and said, "It is getting late. Ti for you to wash up and go to bed." Jake looked back at Michael and nodded obediently.

Wendy did not want Jake to know too much about the love, hatred, and pressure of adults. After all, he was still young, so he ought to have a carefree childhood. Unfortunately, as Wendy Stewart’s son, he was influenced by Wendy since he was a kid, which made him sensitive.

Just like the last ti Wendy took him back to Rheinsville City.

Wendy knew for the first ti that his son was aware of so many things in secret. He not only noticed but also hid it well. Even Wendy, as the mother spending every day with him, did not realize that fact. Because of this, Wendy dared not let Jake get more information.

She was afraid that Jake would be depressed by overthinking.

"Wendy..." Michael stood up and looked at Wendy, his eyes were full of guilt and apology. "Are you okay?"

"I am pretty good." Wendy had not digested Michael’s words tonight yet, and now she did not know what to feel about him.

With a blink, Wendy said, "You are free to go now. Just leave alone."

Since there was nothing wrong with Wendy, Michael was also relieved.

He would give Wendy enough ti and space. He did not want to force her either. Michael nodded and went away.

As Michael was gone, Wendy was left alone in the living room again. She went to sit on the couch. The living room was dreadfully quiet. When Wendy was in the bathroom, she had already thought a lot. From a rational standpoint, Wendy believed what Michael said tonight. But emotionally, she could not accept Michael’s explanation.

She could not believe that her so-called hatred over the past five years eventually turned out to be a joke. She picked up the celphone when seeing it on the table.

Michael said that he sued the doctor and hospital who committed fraud five years ago. Wendy opened the mobile browser and entered the na of the hospital back then.

Sure enough, a massive amount of information popped out.

The first ca the news that the hospital has shut down.

Wendy clicked on the link and read through it again, plus other related information. Indeed, as Michael said, that hospital was closed five years ago. The doctor involved in the incident also got sentenced and was still in prison to this day.

Wendy also searched for news about Michael before she knew it. Most of the news found was about finance and economics.

However, there was also a wealth of information about his wife, Wendy Stewart.

One of them was that Michael donated a billion to the Red Cross in the na of Wendy. It was the news from four years ago.

Wendy followed the news and clicked on the Twitter link. This incident must have been quite trending at the ti. Many people were discussing Michael’s affectionateness.
