Murray fell silent.
He opened the drawer of the bedside table, took out a cigar, and lit it with a lighter. Holding the cigar, Murray knitted his brows with a touch of lancholy. His expression was stony amid the smoke.
"Lily... is the girl kidnapped with when I was little," Murray’s voice was bitter. Finishing the words, he extinguished the sparks on his fingertips.
Kidnapped? lissa frowned. She rembered Murray has asked her several tis. "lissa, have you ever been kidnapped?"
"lissa, are you sure you have never been kidnapped?"
Is Murray treating her as Lily? Or perhaps, Lily’s substitute?
Murray kept telling the tragedy, "I was the kidnappers’ target. Lily just happened to pass by, and she was innocently implicated by . We were locked in a dark wooden house, spending a few days in the dark together."
"What happened then?" lissa asked.
"Later, to save , Lily fell off the cliff," Murray said with a sad expression.
At that ti, Murray couldn’t save Lily but watch her fall into the abyss. And Murray had never found Lily, even no her ... corpse.
Perhaps Lily had been dead but Murray found it hard to accept. lissa thought. No wonder he kept Lily in his mind for years.
"Do I look like Lily?" After a mont of silence, lissa suddenly asked.
Actually, Murray could not rember Lily’s face clearly. Only the feeling and faint fragrance that lissa gave to him were the sa as Lily. "Yes, very similar."
lissa’s heart sank. So all those things he did for her, blocking the knife for her, finding evidence to save her from Susie’s trap or even his request of "Maybe we can have a try?" was simply because she looked like Lily?
"Murray, I’m sorry but I have to say. I’m lissa. I’m unique. I am not Lily, not anyone’s substitute. My future husband must love wholeheartedly. He must only love and not treat as a substitute for other won." she stopped for half a minute, then left the final word, "So, Murray, it is impossible for us to be together!"
Finishing words, lissa picked up the blanket on the bed, walked to the sofa, and laid down.
Murray opened his mouth but could not say anything to stop her. Looking at her walking towards the sofa without hesitation, Murray had complicated feelings. He wasn’t sure if it is because of Lily, his heart was indeed fully filled with lissa.
lissa laying on the sofa was also frustrated. She tossed and turned, unable to sleep. The bits and pieces of mory she spent with Murray during this month unconsciously appeared in her mind. She did have a crush on Murray. But he loved Lily deeply, which is so hard for her to accept...
...
Murray and lissa had a sleepless night.
It was almost dawn. lissa got up with two dark circles under her eyes, and Murray’s handso face also revealed a trace of fatigue.
Marc was in a good mood as he opened the door for them. He saw Murray and lissa look exhausted.
Last night ... those dishes worked! He thought.
"Youngsters should control yourselves." Marc smiled cunningly.
lissa was speechless. What was Marc thinking?
When lissa and Murray arrived at the company, lissa was still thinking about Lily’s story. Murray was so disturbed by Lily for years that lissa decided to help him.
lissa sent a ssage to Anthony. "Find a person for ."
Anthony quickly replied. "Who is it?"
lissa quickly typed. "Ten years ago, the girl who was kidnapped with Murray. Her nickna is Lily."
Andrew wailed, "Ten years ago ... Ada, is there any other information?"
lissa replied, "That’s all. Find her ASAP."
Andy had no choice but to send , "alright."
lissa knew Anthony was a professional at searching for people. He always completed her tasks quickly.
However, this ti, Anthony didn’t reply to her until the evening when she called him.
He changed his usual playful tone and said in a rare solemn voice, "Ada, I can’t find anything."
lissa was startled, "Nothing? Did you try your best? I know your ability is the top in this industry..."
He interrupted her, "Sorry, Ada. I did everything I could, but ... just nothing." Anthony said, with a hint of guilt and self-doubt. "Maybe I’m still not that proficient. Ada, you can search for her by yourself."
"Okay. I know."
Hanging up the phone, lissa furrowed her eyebrows.
In this case, perhaps only she could find Lily now.
She turned the computer on, inputting complicated codes...
But what lissa didn’t know is that the mont she finds Lily, her life will undergo a big change...
