Mu Wan was a woman Lin Kuang had t in the Wild Wolf Special Forces. She was his woman, even though they had never taken the final step in their relationship. They had once carried out a mission together in Arica, but during that very mission, Mu Wan disappeared. She was declared dead at a secret military base.
It was precisely because of Mu Wan's death that Lin Kuang, in a fit of rage, destroyed the entire base with his terrifying Martial Power and intellect. This act led to his imprisonnt on Devil's Island for a year.
Throughout the past year, Lin Kuang had seed relaxed on the surface. Deep down, however, the na Mu Wan was etched into his very soul. How could he ever forget her?
Now, suddenly hearing from Huo Feifei that Mu Wan was not dead, how could he not be thrilled?
It took a long mont for Lin Kuang to suppress his roiling emotions and calm down. He took a deep, shaky breath. "Feifei… how did you find out Wan'er isn't dead?" he asked, his voice trembling as his eyes bored into hers.
Seeing his reaction, Huo Feifei quickly explained, "I actually discovered it by accident. Wan'er's file was mysteriously sealed, and there was no information about her death in it. The entry for her death simply said 'Confidential'! From that, I deduced she hadn't died. I'm a computer expert, so I used my skills to search for all the information from back then. I was shocked to find that there was no body, not even a death report for her, at that military base!" Her tone was urgent and grave as she looked at him.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang began to tremble uncontrollably. His voice was thick with emotion as he looked at Huo Feifei. "Feifei… thank you. I know what to do now."
Huo Feifei pouted. "Brother Kuang, why are you being so formal?"
Seeing her adorable pout, Lin Kuang couldn't help but pat her on the head. "You're right, my mistake. It won't happen again."
"Hmph, that's more like it," she said, breaking into a happy, beaming smile.
Lin Kuang nodded, pulled out his phone, and dialed Chen Feng's number. The call connected almost imdiately.
"Hello, King of the Underworld," Chen Feng's respectful voice ca through the line.
"Chen Feng, I need your Wumi Building to find soone for ," Lin Kuang said, his voice cold and laced with a barely concealed killing intent. "She was once with the Wild Wolf Special Forces. Her na is Mu Wan. Over a year ago, she was on a mission with
in Arica when she died. Now, I need to know for certain if she's dead or not, and why. I'll pay whatever it costs. Rember, I need this done fast. You *must* find the answer for !"
Chen Feng imdiately agreed. He was well aware of Lin Kuang's identity. While Wumi Building was a business, it granted certain privileges to powerful individuals like Lin Kuang. Besides, Lin Kuang still owed them a favor.
"Yes, King of the Underworld. Rest assured, I'll inform the higher-ups imdiately. We will find an answer as quickly as possible, and I'll contact you the mont we have one," Chen Feng said, his tone rushed but deferential.
"Good. Once it's done, I'll pay as promised. On top of that, I'll owe Wumi Building another favor," Lin Kuang added solemnly.
He offered this to ensure Wumi Building would act quickly; he knew his favors carried weight. For Lin Kuang, owing one more favor—or even ten—was trivial. After all, Wumi Building was part of *that person's* organization, and Lin Kuang's relationship with that person was ironclad.
Hearing Lin Kuang's offer, Chen Feng's expression shifted again, his eyes wide with unconcealed surprise. Since when were favors from the King of the Underworld so easy to get? This seems too easy...
Though confused, Chen Feng kept his thoughts to himself. It was a favor from the King of the Underworld; he was not foolish enough to refuse.
"Understood. Rest assured, we'll begin the investigation imdiately. Please wait for my call," Chen Feng said again, his tone even more resolute.
Lin Kuang nodded. "Good. Keep
updated." With that, he hung up.
The mont the line went dead, Chen Feng relayed the ssage to Wumi Building's headquarters. The higher-ups were intrigued by Lin Kuang's terms—especially since he was still paying in full. The entire Wumi Building network sprang into action. Branches across the globe began making inquiries, confident that it would not be long before they had news.
anwhile, Lin Kuang pushed his chaotic thoughts aside and led Huo Feifei into Yang Wucheng's office.
"Finished your chat?" Yang Wucheng asked with a smile as they entered. He had not realized they knew each other; that would certainly make their mission much easier.
"Yes, Uncle Yang. When will Thunderhawk get here?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.
"Soon. They'll be here within the half-hour. Old Zhang is coming too," Yang Wucheng replied.
Lin Kuang nodded, and he and Huo Feifei took a seat to wait.
Twenty minutes later, the three of them went to the parade ground just as a helicopter from Nanjing was touching down. Once the rotors spun to a halt, the cabin door opened. Zhang Guodong stepped out, followed by Kang Cheng, Song Tao, and the rest of the Thunderhawk Special Forces.
"You're a bit late, Old Zhang," Yang Wucheng could not help but tease as Zhang Guodong approached.
"Late? I'd say I'm right on ti," Zhang Guodong retorted with a laugh. "Co on, let's talk inside."
Yang Wucheng nodded, and the group headed for his office. When Kang Cheng, Song Tao, and the other team mbers saw Lin Kuang, they nodded at him in deference. His formidable combat skill had earned their respect.
Once they were seated in the office, Yang Wucheng looked at Zhang Guodong and asked with a smile, "So, is everything on your end settled?"
"Yes, it's all been settled," Zhang Guodong replied, a clear hint of fatigue in his eyes despite his smile. "What needed to go to the higher-ups is with them, and what belonged in a military court has been handed over. How command decides to handle it from here is anyone's guess." After all, many of the accused had been his subordinates. After working together for so long, it was impossible for sothing like this not to take a toll on him.
"Well, what's done is done. Try to put it out of your mind," Yang Wucheng advised comfortingly. "They were a cancer in the ranks. It's not worth grieving for them."
