Looking at Chu Zhongtian, Zhang Liani spoke indifferently.
Upon hearing her, Chu Zhongtian smiled slightly. He understood that haggling was a natural part of any partnership. He refused to believe that Zhang Liani would remain unmoved if the benefits were great enough. Right now, she was probably just trying to drive down the price to pocket more money. Chu Zhongtian didn't mind that. His main concern was whether she would negotiate with him at all—that was the most important thing.
Judging by her deanor, she was clearly interested in continuing the discussion, which was enough for him. Besides, in Chu Zhongtian's mind, a seventy-thirty split wasn't his bottom line. He had just thrown out a number to see if Zhang Liani was even interested in talking.
"Miss Zhang, let's not be so final. We can still negotiate. If you think the profit is too low, we can discuss it," Chu Zhongtian said with a smile.
Hearing this, Zhang Liani returned his smile. "Mr. Chu, you're quite the negotiator. But isn't this price a little too low?" At this mont, she sounded like a shrewd rchant.
Seeing this, Chu Zhongtian felt a surge of joy. This was exactly the reaction he had been hoping for.
"Heh, Miss Zhang, business is all about give and take. If you find my offer unacceptable, then please, na your price," Chu Zhongtian asked with a grin.
Zhang Liani nodded with a smile. "I don't ask for much. A seven-three split. I take seven, you take three."
Her words startled Chu Zhongtian, who then forced a smile. "Miss Zhang, that's asking for a lot, isn't it? I'm afraid that won't work. It's simply too high."
"Mr. Chu, you must understand that any partnership has risks, especially with this kind of rchandise," Zhang Liani said with a confident smile. "And you know I have many n under . If the cut is too small, I'm afraid my brothers won't be happy."
Chu Zhongtian shook his head. "That won't do, Miss Zhang. You must realize there are risks on my side as well. My n are responsible for transporting these goods, and that cos at a significant cost. Moreover, acquiring them isn't free, is it? A sixty-forty split. I take six, you take four. That's the biggest concession I can make."
"No, no, no, Mr. Chu, that's not going to work. You must know your shipnt is probably quite large. In East Sea, the only one who can handle that kind of volu is our Eagle Sect. You are certainly aware of this. I'll make my final concession: you take four, I take six. That's my bottom line," Zhang Liani said, still smiling.
Chu Zhongtian gave a bitter laugh. "Miss Zhang, you drive a hard bargain. This is very difficult for
to accept. How about this? My final offer: a fifty-fifty split. That's my bottom line. It has to be fifty-fifty!" he declared, his tone firm.
"That's not happening, Mr. Chu. You take four, I take six. That is my absolute minimum!" Zhang Liani's tone was just as unyielding, making it clear that the deal was off if he didn't agree.
Seeing the look on her face, Chu Zhongtian's expression turned ugly. A sixty-forty split in her favor was truly hard for him to swallow. But as she said, she was the only one in East Sea who could take his goods. Since Zhang Liani controlled the entire underworld of East Sea, he had no choice but to agree. Of course, he could choose to eliminate her, but that hardly seed like a wise move.
At that thought, Chu Zhongtian sighed in resignation. "Miss Zhang, you truly are a master negotiator. Alright, I concede. You take six, I take four."
A smile blood on Zhang Liani's face. "Excellent. Here's to a pleasant partnership, Mr. Chu." As she spoke, she extended her hand.
Chu Zhongtian smiled back. "Indeed. To a pleasant partnership."
After they settled the deal, Chu Zhongtian had the food served. While they ate, the two of them discussed a few more details.
At ten that night, Zhang Liani left, thoroughly satisfied. Chu Zhongtian was also pleased. Although he was making ten percent less than he'd hoped, he was still making a profit, and that was enough.
Leaving the Xiangya Club, Zhang Liani scoffed inwardly. She would never touch this stuff. It was only because Lin Kuang wanted to set a trap for Chu Zhongtian that she even bothered with this charade.
Once in her car, she called Guo Delun's cell phone to ask about Ye Tiannan's whereabouts. Guo Delun told her that Ye Tiannan was still at the Red Dust Club and hadn't co out yet. Zhang Liani nodded and told Guo Delun to keep an eye on him. Then, she hung up and dialed Lin Kuang's number.
At that mont, Lin Kuang and Yang Ruotong were still passionately entangled. Yang Ruotong used every trick she knew to match his rhythm, and the exquisite pleasure made them both forget everything else. If Lin Kuang's phone hadn't rung, they would have remained lost in that blissful state.
Reaching for his phone by the bed, Lin Kuang saw it was a call from Zhang Liani, and his heart leaped. He answered the call, but his movents never ceased.
Yang Ruotong's face flushed as she watched him, her enticing red lips pressed tightly together, afraid of making a sound.
"Hello, Liani," Lin Kuang said with a smile, though his voice was a bit labored.
"Lin Kuang, I've settled things with Chu Zhongtian," Zhang Liani said with a cheerful laugh. "A sixty-forty split, my favor. The guy actually went for it. I wonder what his face will look like when he realizes he's been had."
"Is that so? When is he delivering the goods?" Lin Kuang asked, his voice growing even more strained.
"Tomorrow night. He's delivering the goods tomorrow night. Ye Tiannan is still at the Red Dust Club, probably looking for won. It'll likely be a while before he heads back, so you might have to wait a bit longer," Zhang Liani said, smiling.
"No problem, I can wait. I'll go find him after he gets back. As for the shipnt, just seize it when it arrives. Use your connections to get it shipped abroad. Let those foreigners enjoy it," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, clearly pleased.
"Mm, I understand. When the goods arrive tomorrow night, I'll have soone transport them imdiately. Chu Zhongtian said the shipnt is huge, enough to surprise . Looks like it's a massive haul. We're going to make a fortune off this," Zhang Liani remarked.
"Good. I'll leave you to handle it, then. I've got sothing to take care of here. Just let
know when that kid Ye Tiannan cos out," Lin Kuang said, his words coming out even more ragged.
Hearing that, Zhang Liani chuckled and agreed. It was only then that she noticed the strain in his voice, along with the faint sounds from his end of the line. As she listened to those all-too-familiar sounds, her face suddenly flushed red. He... He isn't doing *that*, is he?
