Upon hearing this, Zhang Guodong shook his head helplessly. "No. Okamoto Daisuke didn't say anything before he was assassinated. The very next day, there was an attempt on your life. I'm wondering if Okamoto Daisuke might have so connection to Shi Yushan and the ngs."
Zhang Guodong nodded with a smile. "Yes, I've thought of that too. I've already assigned people to secretly follow ng Hao and Shi Yushan, but so far, no information has co back."
"Oh, I see." Lin Kuang fell into deep thought. If those two weren't involved, he couldn't think of any other suspects.
"What do you plan to do about Li Rongzu and his n?" Lin Kuang asked, turning his gaze back to Zhang Guodong.
"Ignore them. They can do whatever they want, as long as they don't bother ," Zhang Guodong replied, his expression souring at the ntion of Li Rongzu's na.
Lin Kuang nodded silently, his mind already racing through the possible suspects.
Suddenly, a na ca to mind. "By the way, Uncle Zhang, what about Cui Hongyu, the forr Lei Ying mber? What's he up to these days?"
Zhang Guodong froze. "You suspect he's the one who leaked the military secrets?"
"Well, it's just a suspicion, of course. I can't say for sure," Lin Kuang said. "But he struck
as the type to seek revenge over the smallest slight. I think we should look into him."
"Alright. You've reminded
of sothing I'd forgotten." Zhang Guodong turned to an aide. "Liang Kai, arrange for soone to look into Cui Hongyu's information. Be careful. The kid may be crippled, but he's a forr Lei Ying mber. His tracking and counter-tracking skills are sharp."
Liang Kai nodded and turned to leave.
"Wait," Zhang Guodong called out just as Liang Kai turned around. "Have Song Tao take two n instead. I don't trust anyone else with this."
Hearing this, Liang Kai nodded again and left.
"I hope we find sothing," Lin Kuang murmured.
"Let's hope so," Zhang Guodong said, smiling at Lin Kuang. "I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you for a few more days. You'll probably need to stay here a bit longer."
Lin Kuang nodded. "Alright, I'll stay."
"Good. Co and stay at my place tonight. It can be inconvenient for you to move around the military region, after all," Zhang Guodong said with a smile.
Lin Kuang readily agreed.
anwhile, Li Rongzu, Qian Zhou, and four others were gathered in their guesthouse. The atmosphere in the room was oppressive. Everyone wore a foul expression, especially Li Rongzu, whose face was so gloomy it looked like it could drip water.
"Captain, they've gone too far!" Qian Zhou finally broke the silence.
Technically, Li Rongzu held the rank of Major General, but as the leader of their special operations squad, his n addressed him as "Captain."
Li Rongzu didn't speak, but his expression grew even grimr. The others remained silent, their gazes fixed on him, waiting for him to speak.
After a mont, Li Rongzu finally looked up at them. "Let's set that aside for now. Our top priority is to find the person who targeted Zhang Guodong. Our second objective is to undermine his authority. Of course, you all need to stay vigilant. If you discover anything, we can fra Zhang Guodong for it. Understood?" he said coolly, a cunning glint in his eyes.
The other five n nodded, all understanding his aning.
"Captain, what about Lin Kuang?" another man asked.
"Forget about him for now. Lin Kuang isn't easy to deal with. He has the Lin Family of Yanjing backing him. The Lin Family's old bastard refuses to die, and if we ss with his precious grandson, that old geezer will fight us to the death. That wouldn't be good for anyone," Li Rongzu said. "Of course, if we manage to find so 'evidence' of his cris, he'll have to be taken away too. Understand?"
The n nodded, understanding his true aning. He intended to fra them—both Zhang Guodong and Lin Kuang.
"Alright, all of you, go. Keep a close watch on their movents and report back to
imdiately," Li Rongzu ordered.
"Yes, Captain," the five n answered before filing out of the room. Qian Zhou limped as he walked, cutting a rather comical figure.
anwhile, Lin Kuang accompanied Zhang Guodong on a tour of the East Sea Military Region, observing the soldiers' daily training. Everything seed calm.
After lunch, Lin Kuang chatted casually with Zhang Guodong, as if they had both forgotten all about the Okamoto Daisuke incident. The day passed peacefully.
In the afternoon, Lin Kuang left the military region with Zhang Guodong, and they drove toward Zhang Guodong's ho.
On the way, Lin Kuang found a mont to send a text to Liu Shilin and Yang Ruoxi, letting them know he wouldn't be back for a few days. He also told Liu Shilin that soone would be coming to protect them at night so they shouldn't worry. After that, he sent another text to Zhang Liani, giving her Lin Guo'er's address and asking her to send people for protection.
Zhang Liani imdiately agreed and complied. She dispatched the twelve n who had previously stord Chen Jiachong's stronghold with Lin Kuang. Along with them, she sent Guo Delun, one of her most capable subordinates.
Less than half an hour later, the car carrying Lin Kuang and Zhang Guodong arrived at Zhang Guodong's ho.
The place wasn't particularly extravagant; it was housing allocated by his superiors. The residence was a villa on a neatly managed estate, giving it a rather ordinary appearance.
"Co on in, Lin Kuang. My ho is a bit humble, I hope you don't mind," Zhang Guodong said with a smile as they got out of the car.
Lin Kuang smiled and shook his head. "Uncle Zhang, you're being too modest. This place is much nicer than where I live."
