The two arrived at Liu Shilin's villa, only to find it in ruins. The entire place had been reduced to a pile of rubble, with nothing left after an explosion incinerated everything.
Seeing the house he had lived in for so long completely destroyed, Lin Kuang felt a pang of helplessness.
The Little Witch's eyes were red as she stared at the villa. Her tearful expression tugged at Lin Kuang's heartstrings, and he couldn't help but pull her into his arms, gently patting her back.
She might have been fine without his comfort, but the mont he embraced her, the Little Witch burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably in his arms. Lin Kuang felt at a loss but continued to soothe her.
After a good half-hour, the Little Witch finally stopped crying. Her beautiful eyes were swollen like walnuts, a truly heart-wrenching sight.
"Alright, it's okay now. No more tears, or you won't look pretty," Lin Kuang said softly.
"Even if I'm not pretty, you still have to want , or I'll never let you off the hook!" the Little Witch sniffled from his embrace, her sowhat unreasonable pout looking incredibly cute.
"Of course. I'll love the Little Witch no matter what she looks like," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, holding her tight.
Hearing this, the Little Witch humd contentedly, her mood imdiately brightening.
Another ten minutes or so passed. Once the Little Witch had completely cald down, Lin Kuang took her to find the property manager. They arranged for the reconstruction, and while Liu Shilin would naturally cover all the costs, Lin Kuang's only requirent was speed—the faster, the better.
The property manager agreed but explained that even moving at their fastest, it would take at least a month or two to complete the reconstruction. That didn't even include the ti needed for interior decorating. Of course, Lin Kuang didn't need to worry about these details. He left everything to the property managent, simply reiterating that speed was of the essence.
After speaking with the managent, Lin Kuang took the Little Witch back to Lin Guo'er's ho. It was only a little past two in the afternoon, and neither Liu Shilin nor Lin Guo'er had returned yet.
The two chatted on the sofa for a while before Lin Kuang's hands started to wander. As the Little Witch was also overco with passion, they began to make love right there. Their passionate encounter lasted until four-thirty.
Dressed once more, the Little Witch lay languidly in Lin Kuang's arms, a sweet, contented smile on her lips. Lin Kuang was in a great mood as well, his palm idly caressing her chest as he awaited the return of Lin Guo'er and Liu Shilin.
Just before five o'clock, the roar of an engine sounded outside. Liu Shilin, Lin Guo'er, Dodo, and Susu had all arrived. Lin Kuang and the Little Witch quickly sat up straight, pretending as if nothing had happened.
The won ca in carrying cakes, food, and flowers—all sorts of things.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang slapped his forehead. He had promised to give Liu Shilin a surprise on Saturday, but the person he needed for help hadn't gotten back to him yet! The thought made Lin Kuang anxious. He had already given Liu Shilin his word, and it would be mortifying if he couldn't deliver.
With that, Lin Kuang excused himself and slipped into the bathroom. He took out his phone and dialed a number. After only a mont, the other party answered. Lin Kuang spoke fluent French for a few minutes, and a smile finally spread across his face.
"Alright, Mr. Bernard. I'll be waiting for your good news at midnight. Thank you for this," Lin Kuang said with a smile, his tone filled with gratitude.
"Haha, Mr. Lin, you're too kind," Bernard replied warmly. "If you hadn't saved
on that plane, I would be dead by now. This small favor is nothing. Compared to my life, it's truly nothing at all, so please don't be so formal. If you need anything in the future, don't hesitate to call."
In truth, Bernard was so courteous not just because Lin Kuang had saved his life, but more importantly, because he was aware of Lin Kuang's identity in Europe. He was the King of the Underworld. Who wouldn't show him so courtesy? Even Bernard was no exception, especially since Lin Kuang had also saved his life. This was the sa Bernard—the fourth richest man in the world—that Lin Kuang had rescued on a plane right after returning from Arica's Devil's Island.
Lin Kuang had sought his help precisely because Bernard possessed the power to crush the Wang, Zhao, and Huang Families. Of course, the plan wasn't quite that simple. The truth would be revealed tonight, and by then, the Wang, Zhao, and Huang Families could only wait to be conquered.
"Alright, Mr. Bernard, since you put it that way, I won't stand on ceremony," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "If you ever need help, please give
a call. I will definitely do my best to assist. Believe , my word is my bond."
That was how favors worked. Use one up, and it might be gone for good. But if favors were exchanged back and forth, the relationship could be maintained.
Hearing Lin Kuang's words, a smile blood on Bernard's face. This was exactly what he had wanted to hear. After all, a favor from the King of the Underworld was sothing many people could only dream of obtaining.
"Excellent, Mr. Lin. Let's leave it at that for now. Just wait for my good news tonight," Bernard said cheerfully.
Lin Kuang agreed with a smile, and the two ended the call.
When Lin Kuang ca out of the restroom, the won were chattering away, each appearing to be in high spirits. Seeing this, Lin Kuang just smiled and watched from the side; he couldn't get a word in on their topics anyway.
But as the saying goes, while so rejoice, others worry. While Lin Kuang's group chatted happily, the atmosphere in a private room at the Xiangya Club was utterly somber.
Inside the room, Chu Zhongtian, Ye Tiannan, Chen Shaowen, Liu Dong, Wang Ya Hao, Zhao Shunyang, and Huang Zelun were gathered, all seven of them wearing grim expressions.
Rex was dead, which ant the great hopes they had placed on him were completely dashed.
"This Lin Kuang is extraordinarily strong. Even mbers of the Poison Spider were no match for him. This has gotten tricky," Ye Tiannan said, his expression dark. He sneered inwardly. He'd thought the plan was unreliable from the very start.
Their gathering today was primarily to use Chen Shaowen. Since he was from the Tai Chi Family, he could surely summon a couple of masters to resolve the situation easily. This plan to use Chen Shaowen was sothing he had discussed beforehand with Chu Zhongtian, Wang Ya Hao, and the others.
