Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Police Station Conspiracy
"Alright, now we can talk," Lin Kuang said coolly, his gaze fixed on Zhang Liani. "How will you compensate ?"
Hearing this, Zhang Liani struggled to her feet. Whether one called her promiscuous or accused her of selling her body to get ahead, her ntal resilience was far superior to Director Hu Run’s. Even Lin Kuang had to admit that.
Sitting on the sofa, Zhang Liani watched Lin Kuang cautiously. She now understood that he genuinely had no interest in her. Since that was the case, she had to find another way to resolve this. With this in mind, she took a deep breath and t his gaze. "Mr. Lin, let
be honest. At this point, I can only do whatever you say. Tell
what you want from . I won’t hesitate."
There was no point playing dumb in front of an intelligent man, and Zhang Liani was clearly aware of that.
Hearing her words, a glint of admiration appeared in Lin Kuang’s eyes. "Well said. You’re a straight talker. If you weren’t sleeping around with so many n, I might have actually taken an interest in you."
Zhang Liani froze, a bitter smile touching her lips as she thought about everything she had been through. To get what she wanted, she had stopped at nothing. Her body was her greatest asset, second only to her mind.
"Mr. Lin, I know you look down on , so just tell . What exactly do you want
to do?" Zhang Liani asked again, forcing herself to remain calm.
"Hmm. First, tell
your na. I still don’t know it," Lin Kuang asked with genuine interest.
"My na is Zhang Liani," she said.
"Zhang Liani, huh? A rather common na," he mused. "Alright. What I want you to do is simple. I’m going to make you the Empress of the Eagle Sect!"
Looking into her ambition-filled eyes, Lin Kuang spoke in a solemn tone. This was no empty boast; it was a declaration he had carefully considered.
After all, Liu Shilin and Liu Shiyu aren’t safe. I realized that the mont Liu Mu asked
to protect them. To truly keep them safe, I need my own power base. Alone and unsupported, I’ll have a hard ti if I run into any really tricky situations. The Eagle Sect is the perfect target. I can conquer a faction, install a puppet leader, and this ambitious woman, Zhang Liani, is the ideal candidate. If I control the Eagle Sect, I’ll have my own force. Then, here in the East Sea, I can build up enough influence to protect the Liu sisters.
Hearing his words, Zhang Liani’s body trembled violently. Her wide eyes were fixed on his, and she could see he wasn’t joking. His gaze was utterly sincere.
At this sight, Zhang Liani felt as if a powerful catalyst had been injected directly into her ambition, causing it to swell beyond her control.
"Lin... Mr. Lin, are you serious?" she asked, her voice trembling as she swallowed hard. As she spoke, she fixed her gaze on his eyes again, trying to discern the truth in their depths.
Lin Kuang t her gaze and nodded with a smile. "Yes. I am being completely serious. I will make you the Empress of the Eagle Sect!" he asserted again, his eyes filled not only with sincerity but also with a confidence that promised to fulfill her every ambition.
Zhang Liani was shaken to her core. She shot to her feet, took a deep breath, and said, "Fine. I’m willing. But how will you help ?"
"Is this guy reliable?" Lin Kuang asked, glancing at Hu Run.
"Reliable. Very reliable," Zhang Liani said, a hint of a smile in her eyes. She may have been foolish enough to give her body to Hu Run and sleep with him, but she wasn’t so foolish that she didn’t gather so leverage. She held enough information on him that if he ever dared to cross her, she could ruin him in minutes.
"Good. Then let’s talk here," Lin Kuang said with a smile. He hopped off the desk and sat beside Zhang Liani, while Hu Run cautiously sat down opposite them.
"Tell ," Lin Kuang began with a smile, glancing at the woman beside him, "how many people in the Eagle Sect do you control? With your intelligence, I’m sure you have plenty of confidants. What percentage of the sect’s forces are loyal to you?"
Zhang Liani’s expression remained calm. She wasn’t surprised that a clever man like Lin Kuang had already figured this much out.
"About fifty percent," she stated without hesitation. "I’ve essentially gained control over everyone who was under Liu Tiecheng. The only ones left are Wang Yuan’s n; they are completely loyal to him."
"Fifty percent? Not bad," Lin Kuang asked with a smile. "If I’m not mistaken, Wang Yuan is the big boss of the Eagle Sect, right?"
"Correct. He’s the boss," Zhang Liani answered honestly.
"Hmm... If I take out Wang Yuan, can Liu Tiecheng take control of the entire Eagle Sect?" Lin Kuang asked coolly after a mont’s thought.
Zhang Liani pondered for a mont before replying, "Mostly. He might not be able to control everyone, but he could secure at least eighty percent. After all, Liu Tiecheng is still highly respected in the Eagle Sect."
"Good. Once Liu Tiecheng is in control of the Eagle Sect, how long will it take for you to assu full command? I want the shortest possible tifra," Lin Kuang said, looking straight at her.
Zhang Liani lowered her head in thought. After a long mont, she replied, "At the absolute fastest, half a month. Give
half a month, and I can take complete control of the Eagle Sect... provided you can eliminate Wang Yuan." As she spoke, she raised her head, her beautiful eyes fixed intently on Lin Kuang.
"No problem," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "Give
Wang Yuan’s location tonight. By tomorrow, he’ll have disappeared from the face of the earth."
"I can do that," Zhang Liani said. "I’ll give you his address tonight."
Lin Kuang nodded and gave Zhang Liani his phone number. He wasn’t worried. He believed an ambitious woman like Zhang Liani wouldn’t try to harm him; after all, she wanted to climb to the top, which made betraying him counterproductive.
And even if, by so small chance, she does try to set
up, I’m absolutely confident I can walk away from it without a scratch.
"Alright, it’s settled then," Lin Kuang said with a final, lingering smile at Zhang Liani. "I’ll be waiting for your call tonight. Don’t disappoint ."
He turned and walked away. Just as he reached the office door, his footsteps paused for a mont.
