Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Cold Deterrence

Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, the serene girl tilted her head and thought for a mont. Her charming, large eyes blinked at him as if she were deciding whether to tell him. Lin Kuang wasn’t in a hurry; he just watched her with a confident smile, one that seed to say he knew she would tell him eventually.

After a while, the girl pouted. "This isn’t fun at all. You knew I would tell you." As she spoke, she wrinkled her nose playfully at Lin Kuang, her simple and cute deanor endearing him to her.

"How would I know you’d tell ? I was just waiting for your answer," Lin Kuang said with a laugh. She’s surprisingly perceptive. Most people can’t see things that clearly.

"Tsk, you obviously knew I would. Fine, I’ll tell you. My na is Yang Ruoxi. Rember it, Yang Ruoxi." As she spoke, Yang Ruoxi flashed a brilliant smile that was truly beautiful.

"Yang Ruoxi... Ruoxi... That’s a very nice, beautiful na," Lin Kuang repeated under his breath before speaking the words aloud.

Yang Ruoxi nodded with a smile. "Of course. My grandfather gave it to . Alright, see you next ti. I have to go now." With that, she waved at Lin Kuang, turned, and walked away, leaving only her ponytail swaying in his line of sight.

Yang Ruoxi... that really is a nice na.

But in the next mont, his expression changed. Wait a second... didn’t she say she’d give

her contact info yesterday? Why did I only ask for her na? Well, so much for today. There’s always tomorrow; I’ll ask when I see her then. Thinking this, Lin Kuang’s mood improved significantly.

Leaving the square, Lin Kuang ran toward ho.

As he neared his doorstep, he saw police cars parked outside Liu Shilin’s villa. A dozen or so officers were cordoning off the gate, seemingly waiting for him. Seeing this, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but smile. The Eagle Sect’s handiwork? Tsk, interesting. For such a minor sect, they’re certainly arrogant. Looks like I’ll have to pay them a visit soti. With that thought, Lin Kuang walked fearlessly toward the gate.

When his figure appeared, one of the officers recognized him.

"Captain Kong, that’s him! That’s the kid who killed soone outside the bar!" the officer exclaid, pointing a finger at Lin Kuang.

Hearing this, Kong Cheng turned his gaze to the smiling young man, a hint of a sigh in his eyes. Although he didn’t know Lin Kuang, the fact that he could take down Scarface and handle over twenty thugs proved he was no ordinary person. Kong Cheng had always admired those who dared to fight against criminal organizations.

However, Lin Kuang had offended the Eagle Sect. Their boss and the police director were incredibly close, and the director had ordered him to make the arrest. As the Criminal Police Chief, Kong Cheng couldn’t disobey. After a mont’s thought, he adopted a professional deanor and blocked Lin Kuang’s path.

"Please wait. You are Mr. Lin Kuang, correct?" Kong Cheng asked calmly.

Lin Kuang didn’t deny it, simply smiling and nodding. "Yes, I am. Do you need sothing?"

"You were involved in a fatal shooting outside the Dimple Bar last night. Please co with us," Kong Cheng stated.

"Oh, sure. Let

go change my clothes, and then I’ll go with you," Lin Kuang said with a smile, his nonchalant words showing he didn’t take the so-called police investigation seriously.

Kong Cheng was taken aback. He’d arrested powerful n before. Even they looked grim upon arrest, so even denying everything in a panic. But to see soone like Lin Kuang admit it so calmly, still smiling... it was a first for him. From this, Kong Cheng’s intuition, honed over years as a criminal police chief, told him this young man was anything but ordinary.

Before Kong Cheng could reply, a young, rookie officer bristled with indignation. He had beco a policeman to protect his country, and the arrogance of this murderer was too much for the recent academy graduate to bear.

The young man leaped forward. "Captain Kong, don’t listen to him! He’s too arrogant! He’s under arrest and he still wants to change his clothes? Do you think we’re taking him to a hotel?" As he spoke, he glared at Lin Kuang with disdain, looking as if he wanted to kill him on the spot to rid the world of a nace.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang glanced at the officer with an amused smile, then turned and started walking toward the villa, completely ignoring him. Seeing Lin Kuang’s blatant disrespect, the young officer’s face flushed with sha and anger.

"Stop right there! How dare a murderer be so brazen! Move again and I’ll shoot!" he shouted, pulling a pistol from his waist and aiming it directly at the back of Lin Kuang’s head. His stance and form were textbook-perfect, clear signs of his training.

But the mont he drew the gun, a chill shot through him as if he’d been plunged into an ice cave. His body began to tremble uncontrollably.

Lin Kuang had turned, and his pitch-black eyes were locked onto him. The young officer felt as if he were being stared down by a Poison Snake, and terror flooded his heart. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed repeatedly. It wasn’t just him; even Kong Cheng, the veteran Criminal Police Chief, felt a tremor run through him when he t Lin Kuang’s gaze.

He had never seen eyes like that before. They appeared calm on the surface, but deep within the pupils churned an endless, cold indifference that felt like an arctic wind scraping his very bones.

"Are you sure you want to shoot?" Lin Kuang asked, his voice completely level and his deanor placid.

Yet, this calm tone and these simple words terrified the young officer so much he couldn’t move. The gun in his hand began to shake. He had a strange feeling—an intuition he believed without a doubt—that if he dared to pull the trigger, the one who died wouldn’t be Lin Kuang, but himself.

Faced with Lin Kuang’s question, all he could do was swallow, unable to form a response. Or rather, he was too afraid to respond.

At that mont, Kong Cheng quickly stepped in to defuse the situation. "Alright, alright, Xiao Li. He’s just going to change his clothes. As police officers, our duty is to ascertain the truth before we take action." He then nodded at Lin Kuang, signaling that he could go.

Lin Kuang returned the nod with a smile, then turned and swaggered into the villa.

Watching him go, the officer nad Xiao Li went limp, his body collapsing as his back beca drenched in a cold sweat.
