"Mom but you cursed at her first. She's not at fault," Her son said with a frown while still standing in between the two won that were ready to fight each other to death when given the slightest chance.

"So she should talk back at ?" The old woman retorted in anger.

"Mother, I didn't say that," Her son answered tiredly.

"But that is what you an. I don't care! All I know is that this slut will never enter this family as long as I am still around," the old woman snarled while pointing at Chen Lin.

Chen Lin scoffed, "You are such an uncouth and unruly woman who doesn't know simple manners and ethics. I have never heard you speak a simple sentence without adding curse words since my two interactions with you. I am just wondering which family you grew up in, and how you managed to show you shaless self outside."

"You.....you bitch, how dare you?" The old woman exclaid, finally losing herself due to extre anger.

Her body language showed that she was exhibiting hostility.

Chen Lin didn't even retort. Instead, she stared at the angry woman with the look that said, 'See I told you. You can't say a simple sentence without adding a curse word.'

Seeing that smug look on face, the old woman raised her hand to scratch Chen Lin's face. But Chen Lin stood there without moving an inch, while the man jumped in to hold his mother back.

"Son, leave so that I can teach this whore a lesson!" The old woman scread, with her fingers stretched, while still trying to claw Chen Lin's face.

"Mother, please stop this!" Her son said to her, as sweat ford on his forehead while breathing heavily, while still holding his irrational mother back.

"I can't be bothered with you," Chen Lin said as she picked her handbag before turning to look at the man.

"When you are done calming her down, co and find ," Chen Lin said before turning to leave, without sparing the mother and son pair another glance.

"Lin'er, please co back," the man said as he tried to chase after her, but his mother held him back.

"Where do you think you are going? Let tell you now, don't try to take a step out of this house." the old woman warned authoritatively.

The man stopped moving and directed an angry stare towards his mother. He then took off her hands that was squeezing his clothes away, before going into his room and banging the door.

After this scene, Chen Lin and the old woman never got along, and that was how it affected her relationship with her ex.

Back to the present.

Hearing her ask about his mother in that manner, he couldn't bla her nor get angry. However, he knew that she wasn't interested in knowing about his mother's health or how she had been faring these years.

He knew that she just wanted to make fun of his mother's situation if actually there was anything for her to laugh about.

"She's fine." He said, giving a simple answer.

Chen Lin honestly didn't care, because she picked up her chopsticks and started eating without giving him any reaction.

Seeing that she was uninterested, the man sighed before picking up his chopsticks as well.

As they ate in silence, the man wanted to say sothing but stopped when he saw that Chen Lin was enjoying her food. So he kept quiet, for fear of ruining her appetite.

When they finished eating, the waiters ca to clear up the plates and left after pouring them each a cup of digesting tea.

Chen Lin took a sip from her teacup and closed her eyes to savour the taste of the tea.

"How is our daughter doing?" The man asked, finally breaking the silence while running his thumb on the glass rim.

Chen Lin placed her teacup on the saucer that was on top of the table. She then looked at him and replied, "She is fine, and she is doing very well."

The man nodded. Then hesitated for a few seconds before finally asking, not daring to look Chen Lin in the eyes, "Does she ask of ?"

Chen Lin stared at him as if she was looking at a fool. Then she laughed out loud.

Watching the manner at which the woman was laughing at him was alone for him to feel like a fool.

So with his scrunched up face, he questioned, "Why are you laughing at that way?"

Chen Lin laughed for a while before saying, "Nothing."

"What do you an by nothing?" The man asked with a frown.

"You are a funny man. How do you expect our daughter to ask about you? She doesn't know you that well. She doesn't have any relationship with you, and you didn't contribute anything to nurture her, apart from the single sperm you contributed to conceiving her. You didn't et up after I was discharged from the hospital after giving birth to her. You didn't watch her grow either. So how do you expect her to ask about you?" Chen Lin finished the last sentence before drinking half the content of the teacup to soothe her throat.

The man pondered on what Chen Lin had just said and found out that they were all true.

His heartfelt so troubled that he didn't contribute anything towards the daughter he had with his beloved woman. He felt so ashad, and this made him hate his wife more. Because the current predicant wouldn't have been in this state if not for her intervention.

The man hurriedly held Chen Lin's hands and said with a frantic expression.

"Lin'er you have to forgive , and also tell our daughter to do the sa. You have to explain what happened to us in the past, and what I told you earlier. I want our little family to reunite."

Just then, the door to their room was pushed open, and a middle-aged woman ca in, furious.

She glanced at the man and woman in the room, and then at their hands that were joined together. Then she matched into the room with a sour facial expression.

"I knew it! I knew that you were cheating on , and it's with this bitch!" The woman yelled as she threw glances at the two of them while pointing fingers at them as well.
