Zheng Qian opened his computer.
Ma Lu continued reading from where he had left off.
— "So what if there's a marriage agreent? Yun Potian, your family has fallen from grace. What qualifications do you have to win my daughter?
"My daughter, Shangguan Xiaoxiao is a favorite of the heavens, the reincarnation of the Nine Heavens Fire Phoenix! Possessing the Undying Sacred Fire, she is already a Great Fighting King at a young age," Shangguan Jianan rebuked.
"I would never allow her to marry you!"
Beside them, Shangguan Xiaoxiao's brother, Shangguan Jiyuan, also scoffed, "A toad lusting after a swan's flesh, not even looking at his own reflection in the water. A poor boy like you, worthy of marrying my sister? Pfft!
"Today this big brother will cut you so slack," Shangguan Jiyuan said while slapping Yun Potian's bronze face.
"The General of the North, Murong Changge, has already sent soone to propose marriage on behalf of his eldest son, Murong Bei Que, and our father has already agreed.
"In a week, my sister will marry Murong Bei Que, and you, this toad, if I'm in a good mood at that ti, might actually get a cup of wedding wine to enjoy, hahaha!"
Shangguan Jiyuan's wild laughter pierced through the night.
Zheng Qian had written up to this point.
After Ma Lu finished reading, he caught a mistake, "That first part should be about welcoming a bride, not winning a bride."
"Oh, I typed too fast earlier and didn't notice."
After Zheng Qian corrected it, Ma Lu continued, "Shouldn't there be so face-slapping action coming up? Does Yun Potian have any other tricks up his sleeve?"
"He is the heir of the reclusive Heavenly chanism Sect. Although he only has the strength of a Fighting Master now, he possesses the Sect's Divine Artifact, the Heaven asuring Ruler. By sacrificing his life blood, he can unleash a strike on par with a Fighting Saint for a short period."
"Not bad, let's write it like that," Ma Lu said. "He activates the Heaven asuring Ruler, and wipes out the whole Shangguan family."
"I initially planned it this way, but is it really okay to write it like that?"
Zheng Qian scratched his ssy hair. "Although Yun Potian was indeed ridiculed, killing the whole family over a few taunts from others… isn't that a bit too much? If this was placed in today's society, he'd definitely be considered a madman."
"It's a bit much," Ma Lu said, "but nowadays, decisive protagonists who deal out death are popular, though there are also readers who pursue rationality and nitpick. But most people read just for fun, and we still need to think of ways to excite them.
"Besides, you've already set the atmosphere to this point, not killing would be inappropriate."
"You have a point," Zheng Qian nodded, "but Shangguan Xiaoxiao is the female lead of my book, and unlike other mbers of the Shangguan Family, she is kind-hearted and once helped bandage an injured rabbit.
"She and Yun Potian t this way, although at the ti they didn't know each other's identities.
"If Yun Potian exterminates her family, how heartbroken she would be, how would they get along in future?"
"Is that so? That's indeed troubleso, then just... kill her off too," Ma Lu suggested.
"Huh?" Zheng Qian was stunned.
"Hey, you've already built up the atmosphere to this point, and everyone in that family is so annoying, even talking crap about offering wedding drinks, just slaughter them all! Not eliminating the roots when cutting grass is a taboo in web novels."
"But my female lead…"
"Just switch to a new one! Out with the old, in with the new."
"This... isn't right, plus doing this would surely lead the General of the North to seek revenge for the Shangguan family."
"Perfect, let's send the Murong Family off as well, setting content for the second part."
"But Murong Changge is the great general of the Human Clan," he said, "always defending the borders against the Demon Clan's attacks. If we kill him, the border will be gone."
Ma Lu slapped Zheng Qian on the back, "Part three, use the Demon Clan as the main focus."
"There's also the Azure Dragon Sect, which is Murong Family's backing with a Fighting Emperor behind them."
"Part four, annihilate the Azure Dragon Sect. There, those four parts should be enough for you to pad out two million characters. Start writing."
While urging, Ma Lu yawned continuously, "Once you finish today's quota, let's talk more about my issue.
"I and Old Wang ca here to cook for a group of people, that Pigeon ntioned that the group seems to be called sothing... Candle Clan."
"Candle Clan?" Zheng Qian's typing paused, "Aren't they just a group from my novel?"
"You read my novel too?" Zheng Qian got excited and grabbed Ma Lu's hand, "Are you my reader who pretended to be ntally ill to get my signature?
"I'll sign it right now," Zheng said and started searching for a pen everywhere, unfortunately without success, before sothing else ca to his mind.
"You said you are my reader, do you have proof of full subscription?"
"I do," Ma Lu asserted firmly, "but they took away my phone."
"Alright, I believe you. Being able to ntion the Candle Clan definitely makes you my reader since I've only ntioned that power in a few previous chapters, saying they live next to the Shangguan Family and have trade relations with them.
"If it weren't die-hard fans, they wouldn't rember at all. It's strange to say, I don't even rember why I wrote about them. I really am the Big Writer; many of the characters under my pen feel like they have their lives and intrigues.
"This must be what they refer to when they say the story is so good that the characters co alive," Zheng Qian said, smugly.
"I think you just lack an outline and thus can't control the characters as you write."
ntal girl, who had appeared without notice, leaned against the door, "Also, I don't think you should kill off Shangguan Xiaoxiao."
"You're an amateur; you don't understand web novels," Zheng Qian waved dismissively, "This is a thrilling point."
"You hardly have any readers, why care so much about thrilling points," ntal girl replied, "No one cares what you write, just write whatever makes you happy."
That truly angered Zheng Qian; he stood up and pushed ntal girl out of the room.
"Though I only have 121 fans now, I will definitely beco a Big Writer, and soday everyone will realize how great my works are. I'll surely appear on the bestseller lists!"
"No wonder you're here now."
ntal girl didn't finish her sentence before the door was slamd shut in front of her.
Zheng Qian sat back down on the windowsill with the security sh and said to Ma Lu.
"Don't mind her, people here are the unreasonable type of crazy."
"Of course, you are different; you are perceptive. I've decided to accept all your suggestions. A good author always listens to their readers."
Ma Lu sat cross-legged on Zheng Qian's hospital bed, feeling oddly light, "Yeah, that's great. I have one more question, you have to co up with lots of nas when writing your novel, right?"
"Exactly, naming is also a troubleso matter," Zheng Qian replied, "It can really be a headache sotis."
"I totally understand, so do you, like so authors, use the nas of people around you in your novels, like the people in this ntal hospital?"
"Hmm," Zheng Qian thought for a mont, "indeed I have, but not often, maybe just two or three tis because most of their nas don't fit my fantasy genre."
"That's what I thought." Ma Lu nodded, his eyes drowsy, "As your die-hard fan, I have an audacious request, could you incorporate our nas into your story too?"
