The talbender city, which the locals in the Beyond commonly called the Humans' city, was still rising across the wide territory, built with nonstop effort and at a speed and level of technology that seed almost unbelievable.
It was a city of solid concrete buildings, with hundreds of houses stretching in every direction, all constructed with symtry and quiet beauty to beco hos for its future citizens.
Surrounding the city were tall defensive walls, climbing so high they resembled man-made mountains-structures built with a single purpose in mind: to stop even Rank 4 Sparks.
At the center of everything stood enormous black structures, each one shaped as if a giant had carved a single block of dark marble and placed it there by hand.
Around them stretched vast zones still under construction, and watching how the city expanded day by day, it was easy to understand why Shelter City had already beco the busiest and most visited location in the entire Outer Region.
Vesha, one of those visitors, was walking today along its wide, clean, perfectly planned concrete streets, her bright blue eyes shining with curiosity as she took in everything around her.
Ever since the city's construction had begun, she had been one of the first outsiders to co here. From that day on, she had kept returning almost every day, sotis with the intention of helping the Humans, but most of the ti simply wandering around and trying to understand what kind of family and environnt Adyr had grown up in.
This ti, she was not alone. Walking beside her were her father, Orven Draven, and, at his side, the Velari king, Vale Von Velaris.
They had joined her both for sightseeing and with the intention of eting these new locals for themselves.
Behind them followed dozens more, like a small army. They were not knights in armor but maids and butlers, each one carrying sothing.
So pushed loaded trolleys, others had large bags on their backs or in their hands; all of them were clearly prepared for a proper visit.
"Daughter, are you sure it is alright for us to co here like this?" her father, Orven Draven, asked nervously. His eyes kept roaming around with a mixture of shock and admiration as he took in the well-constructed buildings and the carefully designed surroundings.
Every detail, from the flowers to the trees, looked as if it had been placed with intention, like strokes on a painted canvas.
King Vale was no different. He felt quite tense walking behind the small girl, fully aware that they had not been formally invited. They had quite literally forced their way in, relying on Vesha's reputation to open the doors.
"Don't worry, Father. It's not like we are going to et royalties or sothing. Just relax and enjoy the walk," Vesha said with a smile, glancing between her father and the king, trying to ease their hearts.
Once she felt them relax, at least a little, she continued forward, leading them along the long, wide streets. Before long, they left behind the quieter areas with empty houses and moved toward the more active, crowded parts of the city. The previous district had been filled only with newly built but still empty houses, prepared as future living areas. On the other hand, the area they had just entered was still under construction. Many Human workers and large machines were scattered around, working without pause.
As soon as Vesha and the group behind her stepped into this new district, the Human workers noticed their arrival.
"Hey, look, isn't that Lady Vesha?" One of the humans, wearing a yellow vest and helt, called out to his friends while operating a small excavator.
"Lady Vesha? Is she here to give us food?" his coworker asked excitedly, his eyes imdiately locking onto the approaching group and the things they were carrying.
They all looked very used to Vesha's regular visits, and one after another the workers began to slow and stop what they were doing, gathering in front of the construction area and watching the approaching dwarves with delighted expressions.
After the nuclear war, Humans had improved themselves in many fields, and construction was one of the areas where they had made remarkable progress. However, there were also a few areas where they had fallen behind.
One of those areas was food.
When these workers had first arrived in the Beyond and tasted the dishes Vesha had brought them, they had fallen in love with the flavors at once. Since then, every single day, they had been waiting for this ti, hoping she would arrive and distribute those godly delicacies again.
"Hello. I hope I am not interrupting your work, Vesha said with a lovely smile, bowing her head slightly to the gathered workers and speaking the Human language with a not-so-bad accent.
She had been learning it from Dr. Veyla and her assistant Isolde for quite so ti, and she turned out to be shockingly gifted at learning languages.
In just about a month, she had already reached a level where she could communicate comfortably. For a race that others still called primitive, such progress was an incredible achievent, just showing her natural talent and intelligence.
"No, no, Lady Vesha, you are always welco here. We were just about to take a break anyway," one of the workers, wearing a red vest and helt, said as he stepped to the front of the group, bowing his head to greet them.
Vesha was a genuinely lovely girl, the kind people quickly grew fond of and wanted to protect. On top of that, everyone knew she was one of Adyr's important friends in the Beyond, so the workers' courtesy toward her was always at the highest level. They were patient with her, always welcoming, and especially grateful for the food she brought each ti.
The chef responsible for feeding the workers lifted his head again and glanced at the unfamiliar n standing beside Vesha. He imdiately sensed that these were not ordinary visitors and asked curiously, "Who might these gentlen
be?"
Though Orven and Vale did not understand the language, they were perceptive enough to grasp the aning of the question. They both bowed their heads slightly and introduced themselves using the few Human words they had
learned.
"This one is Vale Von Velaris. Nice to et you," King Vale said.
"This one is Orven Draven, father of Vesha. Nice to et you," Orven added,
following his example.
Even though one of them was the king of an entire race and the other the head of a powerful family, neither carried any air of superiority. They bowed their heads to the workers, greeting them as equals.
The gesture made the chef and the other workers look at them with a mix of respect and warmth. They bowed their heads in return, matching the courtesy
they had been shown.
After a few more monts of small talk and conversation between the group, during which Vesha introduced her father and the king to the workers and vice versa, helping them connect socially, she ordered her maids and butlers to distribute so of the food to the workers.
She then prepared to proceed to her next destination, another construction
site, where she would continue to distribute the food she had brought and make new connections for her people and kingdom.
