Laurel couldn’t stand seeing Jas, and if she talked about it more, she felt like she was going to cry. She was too proud of herself to cry in front of him, especially when he had already hurt her so much with his comnt.

Without anything to say, Laurel turned around and then left. She didn’t want to hear anything else out of his mouth. There was no point to it. He was simply being very cruel towards her at this mont.

"Laurel, where are you going?"

"I need so ti; please leave alone for a while."

The next day, Laurel stopped doing anything for them. She questioned all the years of their marriage if Carl and Jas thought of her that way.

She didn’t co to Carl’s training, and she didn’t even accompany them for breakfast and dinner.

Usually, she would be there, and it was this house’s rule to have breakfast and dinner together since they would have a busy day.

But now Laurel couldn’t stand them. She kept a distance until she could think clearly and knew what to do. And for the first ti in ten years of her marriage, she felt like she was an outsider in this family.

However, Laurel was not the only one who had to experience such a rough night, because the sa thing happened to Valerie. She was sleeping when she heard the commotion at her door, which startled her awake.

She imdiately checked the CCTV only to find out it was her brother who had caused the ruckus in the middle of the night.

Valerie was living in an apartnt, and the security in this place was rather good, but the problem here, despite seeing how her brother could be a nuisance and how her brother had changed so much, was that she still allowed him to have access to her apartnt building.

He could enter the building anyti he wanted, but after the last ti, Valerie changed the password on her door so he couldn’t co inside her flat as he wished.

"Open the door!" He barked and pounded his fists against the door, causing a ruckus.

Knowing he wouldn’t leave, Valerie went to her door and opened it for him. She saw it on the CCTV that he didn’t look right.

To be honest, he looked so beaten up, and this actually worried her.

"What’s going on?" Valerie asked. Her brother was wearing a baseball cap that hid his face; thus, she couldn’t see his face right away. "What happened with you?"

He still didn’t answer the question; instead, he had his usual demand. "Give the money," he said straight away.

It was always like this. Whenever he ca, he never asked about her well-being. To be honest, Valerie even had forgotten the last ti he asked about her and not about the money.

"Give the money; I need money."

"Why are you like this? What happened with you?" Valerie stretched out her hand and then snatched the baseball cap that hid his face.

Only then could she see how beaten up he was.

"What’s wrong with you?! What happened with you?!" Valerie gasped in shock. Marcus’s face was ruined.

His left eye was swollen to the point that he couldn’t use his left eye to see properly. There was a stain of blood on his throat, and his lips were cut open. He was wearing a black jacket that covered more bruises on his body, even though Valerie didn’t see it. But she was sure of that.

"What’s going on with you? Why are you like this?!"

"Shut up! Don’t be so noisy! Just give the money."

"No, I will not give you anything until I know what happened!"

"Give the money!"

"No! I will not give you anything!" Frustrated with his sister, Marcus chose to enter the apartnt himself. He knew where Valerie’s bedroom was, and he went straight there.

"Stop! Stop! I didn’t allow you to co inside!"

It would be a miracle if Marcus listened to her.

He searched her bedroom. He didn’t even care when Valerie yelled at him. She tried to push him away, but he didn’t budge.

Marcus didn’t hurt her, but obviously he didn’t have any intention to leave.

"Where is the money?! Where is the money?!" The more Marcus was restricted, the more agitated he was, and the more furious he beca. "Where is the money!?" Marcus scread in her face, and Valerie was standing there, stunned by the way her brother treated her right now.

At this mont, Marcus had turned her bedroom upside down.

Her trinkets were scattered. The cup that Valerie bought with her own money when she received her first salary was smashed, and for so reason when she saw that, she felt very angry at her brother.

For the first ti, she yelled loudly at him. "I don’t know what actually you are doing, but I hope you are going to die in one of your missions so you will not taint the mory of my big brother, who used to be very kind to !" Valerie scread at the top of her lungs.

She was very frustrated and couldn’t even think straight. She kept screaming at him loudly.

"I hate how you turned out to be! You are not soone that I am proud of! I hate you!"

And after that, Valerie didn’t rember what she said next, but she knew the more she talked, the more hurtful her words were.

Her scream actually made Marcus stop with his search. He stared at his little sister for a while. She was screaming, she was crying, she was angry, and she was disgusted by him.

"You are so disgusting! I am very embarrassed to say that you are my brother! You are a sorry excuse of a human! You should be ashad of yourself!"

And when the last word ca out of her mouth, he saw red; he slapped her so hard.
