Polo’s origins are mysterious. At a young age, she moved through several cities before arriving in Bayside City.
Because she was so young, her mories are not very clear, but she rembers very clearly the incident where the maniac hurt her.
Due to a child’s tender skin, the whip scars inflicted by the lunatic have nearly all healed. Even if you search now, you can’t find any trace, only so faint whip marks visible against the background.
After reviewing these docunts, Seraphina finally understood why Polo reacted with such terror when she saw that man.
Experiencing such inhumane treatnt at such a young age, it’s inevitable her heart would be scarred.
Yet Polo usually behaves very cheerfully, causing Seraphina not to consider things from this perspective.
After encountering that man, Polo seed to be reminded of a plethora of bad mories, becoming more lancholic, losing her appetite, even losing interest in the butterfly shrimp made by Desmond, which she used to love.
No matter how Jude teased or coaxed her, Polo remained sullen, not speaking much or forcing a smile.
Though they’ve discovered quite a bit recently, there’s still no concrete evidence linking these matters to Eric Holt.
If all this is intricately connected to Eric Holt, it would only an Eric Holt has secretly orchestrated a grand sche.
But is that really possible?
Seraphina thought it was unlikely.
Polo’s appearance was rely accidental; he couldn’t have anticipated that Seraphina would encounter Polo or even take her away.
But what is the connection in all this? Seraphina couldn’t figure it out.
However, judging by the current situation, nothing particularly unusual has occurred.
Whether it be Eric Holt or Nina Kerr, all Seraphina’s adversaries seem to have vanished from sight entirely, having not appeared in her field of vision for so ti.
However, Desmond Fairchild kept hovering before her eyes, owing to these matters.
After recuperating at ho for over half a month, her body barely regained so strength. With Camille’s permission, Seraphina returned to work once more.
Fortunately, the company is full of elites and continued to run smoothly even in her absence. At ho, she often held telephone conferences with the company’s senior managent, so all projects proceeded orderly at the company.
After losing her child, Seraphina beca even more stern than before, constantly wearing a cold expression at the company, like a harbinger of doom.
Previously, many junior employees at the company idolized Seraphina utterly, but now they avoided her, fearing inadvertently saying sothing wrong and offending Seraphina, thus losing their jobs.
"BOSS, you’ve recuperated at ho for quite so ti. Regardless of how well your health may be, your temper seems to have grown," Irene Rowe teased Seraphina while holding a cup of coffee.
At this mont, only Irene dared to joke with Seraphina; others wouldn’t dare.
"My temper’s always been like this; I rely felt before that managing a company can’t lack humanity entirely. However, when a mole appeared in our company, I suddenly realized it’s better to establish authority among employees; otherwise, many might think I’m good-natured and easy to bully." Seraphina sighed, taking the coffee brewed by her assistant.
Who really wants to wear a stern face every day? If not for the hope of the company becoming better and better, there’s no need for her to act like this.
Irene nodded in agreent: "You’re right. Those below have beco much more disciplined now, though so employees secretly call you the ’cold-faced female assassin.’ To be honest, you indeed resemble one now."
"Shut up. How’s the task I assigned you coming along?" Seraphina shot her a glare, turning to serious business.
Upon discussing serious matters, Irene imdiately dropped her joking deanor, her expression changing: "Regarding Polo, we indeed couldn’t find more information; however, Austin White recently uncovered so details."
"Oh? Do tell." Seraphina looked at Irene with interest. Austin is her godson, and now that he’s found information, he hasn’t inford her imdiately; he’s truly forgotten his mother after having a wife.
"Previously, Eugene Tate was involved in trafficking illegal drugs, indeed having soone backing him. Otherwise, with his status, he couldn’t have accessed such things, let alone trafficked them. Allegedly, the drugs he trafficked fetched sky-high prices in so dostic city’s underground markets. Such highly-pure hallucinogens aren’t sothing ordinary people can get their hands on."
While speaking, Irene paused for a few seconds, lowering her voice slightly: "BOSS, there are so matters you might want to ask President Fairchild; he likely knows more than we do."
"What do you an by that?" Seraphina was puzzled; if Desmond could uncover things, she naturally could too. Could Desmond really discover things that she’d be unable to find?
She guessed correctly.
What she could uncover, Desmond could certainly discover, but what Desmond could find, she might not necessarily uncover.
Yet Seraphina didn’t understand these things.
"I don’t know the specifics, but Austin ntioned that President Fairchild’s identity isn’t as simple as it appears on the surface." Even Irene didn’t understand what Austin ant. Even if Desmond had another identity, could it be more noble than that of Cloudsea Group’s heir?
Seraphina’s mind tightened: "That’s impossible."
For two or three years she’s been entangled with Desmond, and throughout this ti, she hasn’t discovered any other identity for him. He’s been constantly busy with Cloudsea Group’s business, never revealing any flaws in front of her.
How much depth of cunning must one have to hide so well even from one’s partner?
She didn’t believe it.
Irene shrugged: "I also find it sowhat unbelievable. President Fairchild’s identity is already sufficiently noble; what hidden identity could be so mysterious? Could he be a governnt official? I can’t imagine any other possibilities."
In politics?
The word exploded in Seraphina’s mind, as if she caught so crucial information.
Before she and Desmond broke up, when staying at Azure Cloud Shores, Desmond mysteriously acquired a batch of maids. Each maid was highly trained, not just in household chores but even in combat skills.
Chloe Irving was among them; Seraphina recalls being besieged at an underground casino, saved by Chloe. At that ti, she was amazed by Chloe’s skills and had wondered about Chloe’s identity. But after losing her child, her mood plumted, and she had forgotten about it.
Recalling now, everyone Desmond placed beside her wasn’t simple; even the maids were comparable to ard forces, with formidable combat prowess.
Is it as Irene ntioned—Desmond could indeed be a governnt official?
However, speculation remains re speculation; even if she wanted to investigate these matters, she’d likely uncover no results. Though she’s not a person in the political arena, she’s quite aware that information related to politicians is confidential, except for what they want people to know.
