The issues at Diamond Island are still unresolved. It’s not really a serious illness, so there’s no need to waste ti staying in the hospital.
"Alright, discharge him." Seraphina’s gaze was slightly cold; she didn’t really want to argue with Desmond.
Since he already had other plans in mind, she couldn’t interfere.
Anyway, there was no longer any relationship between the two of them. Desmond could do whatever he wanted, and she had no interest in knowing.
Quentin hurriedly interjected, "Sister-in-law, are you sure about discharging him? Shouldn’t we reconsider?"
Seraphina maintained a cold expression, her tone quite impatient: "It’s not that I’m not letting him stay; it’s that he doesn’t want treatnt. Do you understand? Proceed with the discharge formalities for him."
Quentin was quite anxious and quickly gave Desmond a aningful look: "Master Fairchild, you’ve been overworked recently. It’s ti to get so proper rest. You don’t have to worry about the company; I’ll keep an eye on everything. You just focus on recuperating and don’t think about anything else."
Desmond pressed his thin lips together and didn’t speak further. Quentin breathed a sigh of relief: "Since you’re not saying anything, I’ll take it as your consent. Sister-in-law, I’ll find out what else needs attending to, you should keep Master Fairchild company."
Just as Seraphina was about to speak, Quentin had already slipped away.
She sat by the bedside, looking at Desmond’s pale face lying on the hospital bed, her lips moved slightly: "You don’t seem to be in any critical condition. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back. I don’t feel at ease leaving my son alone at ho."
"And you feel at ease leaving here alone?" Desmond’s ashen face showed a pitiful expression, as if he might burst into tears as soon as Seraphina left.
Seraphina was speechless, struggling to find her words. After a while, she took a deep breath, looked at him earnestly, and spoke with words that cut deep: "Desmond, there is nothing between us anymore. Thank you for helping today, but I’m under no obligation to stay here with you. If you need soone to care for you, you can arrange for your family’s servants to co."
With that, she turned to leave, feeling an increasing ache in her heart with each glance at him.
They had already agreed not to see each other anymore, to break all ties. She had said all the harsh words she could, but why did all the efforts to forget him seem in vain every ti she saw him?
Since they had agreed to end it, there was no need to be entangled any longer.
Seraphina took a deep breath, not waiting for Desmond to speak again, picked up her bag, and swiftly left.
When Quentin returned, the ward was left with only Desmond.
Seeing Desmond’s pale face, his entire deanor out of sorts, Quentin couldn’t help but feel pity: "She’s gone, so stop dwelling on it. You hurt Sister-in-law so deeply in the past, and now you’re suddenly trying to make ands. With her personality, there’s no way she would reconcile with you just by hearing a few good words."
"What should I do to win back her heart?" Desmond tightly pressed his thin lips, his heart aching with intensity.
"This is sothing that will need ti. Sister-in-law’s stubborn nature is hard to deal with. Even if it were , I wouldn’t easily forgive your actions." Quentin felt quite helpless. He had previously warned Desmond, but Desmond was obstinate, always believing that pushing her away was the best way to protect her.
The only mistake they made was underestimating Eric Holt.
Unexpectedly, all their efforts were in vain.
Now, Desmond must be regretting it deeply. He had been smart his entire life, but he stumbled in matters of the heart.
Besides feeling sympathy for Desmond, Quentin was even more worried about Eric Holt.
"Master Fairchild, Eric Holt has already extended his influence into the Fairchild Family and is even quite interested in Sister-in-law. We can’t wait any longer. As long as Eric Holt is around, we can’t have peace of mind." Quentin’s expression was serious, hoping Desmond would montarily set aside personal matters and focus on more pressing issues.
Desmond’s gaze darkened slightly, a fierce glint flashing by: "You’re right, if Eric Holt is not dealt with, I cannot pursue Seraphina peacefully."
"Is that the main point?" Quentin held back the urge to roll his eyes, "In the past, you were indifferent to won, handling everything perfectly. But since eting Sister-in-law, you’ve put her first in everything, giving up countless things. I truly can’t tell if allowing you to be with her is right or wrong."
Quentin shook his head in a sigh, wishing both for Desmond’s happiness and hoping he wouldn’t be hurt by these emotional entanglents.
Thinking back to the days following their breakup, watching him drown his sorrows with alcohol, using work to numb himself, Quentin felt his own heart ache.
If he hadn’t been so dramatic then, he wouldn’t be lying in the hospital now either.
Desmond too understood Quentin’s point, but love is love; there is no turning back.
"You’re usually the one with the most clever ideas; help think of how I can get her to co back to ?" After much consideration, Desmond’s main goal remained winning back Seraphina.
"Alright, since you’re determined, I’ll try to help you co up with sothing, but I can’t guarantee success, because the woman you’re dealing with isn’t just anyone." Quentin shrugged his shoulders, had Seraphina been an ordinary person, Desmond wouldn’t have had to do much; a simple gesture and she’d be back to him.
Unfortunately.
With her status, looks, and family background, Seraphina was no less than Desmond. A woman with both brains and pride, trying to win her back after breaking her heart was as hard as climbing the sky.
Quentin didn’t dare to say this, fearing it would shatter Desmond’s hopes.
"Even if she doesn’t forgive , I absolutely can’t let her belong to soone else." Desmond’s phoenix eyes dimd, revealing a resolve on his handso face.
Whether it’s Keith Hughes or Eric Holt, neither must attempt to pursue Seraphina.
Returning to Azure Cloud Shores, as soon as Seraphina entered, Jude hurriedly approached her: "Mommy, where have you been? Why are you only coming back now?"
"I ran into so trouble on the way back, so I was delayed. Why? Did you miss ?" Seraphina pinched Jude’s little face, easing her heavy mood a bit.
"Mommy, is soone causing you trouble again? Tell who it is, and I’ll hack their computer!" Jude raised the iPad in his hand, his fierce deanor adorably fierce.
Seraphina was utterly chard by little Jude’s antics and couldn’t help but pull him into her arms: "You little rascal, you’re always the one who cares most about Mommy. Tell , what do you want to eat tonight? Mommy will make it just for you."
"That’s not necessary, Mommy’s cooking is really just average; I want to eat what Chloe makes." Jude let go of Seraphina, licking his lips as if he was craving for Chloe’s dishes.
"You ungrateful little foodie." Seraphina quipped with a smile, turning to Chloe, "Chloe, I’m a bit hungry too, could you whip up sothing for us?"
Chloe nodded happily, "Sure, I’ll go make sothing right away. Madam and Young Master, please wait a mont; it’ll be ready soon."
Seraphina sat with Jude in the living room, glanced around, and asked, "Where are Fiona and Skylark? I don’t see them anywhere."
"Skylark sister said big brother asked her to do sothing, as for Fiona sister, I don’t know. She said she was going shopping in the afternoon and hasn’t returned yet." Jude played with his tablet, seemingly unconcerned about their affairs.
