"Dad, you said in your letter that I should live peacefully and happily. I’m doing well now, I have soone who loves very much, and I have a smart son. I’ve also gotten the company back. I just miss you so much..." Seraphina Sinclair spoke with a hint of sobbing, but there was no longer anyone to comfort her.
"Dad, I really miss you. It’s been so many years, I haven’t even dread of you. Are you angry with ? Dad..." Finally unable to hold back her emotions, Seraphina leaned against the tombstone like a stubborn child and cried loudly, letting big tears fall from her eyes and slide down the tombstone.
After so many years, today she finally uncovered the truth of Mr. Sinclair’s death. But oh, the father who loved and cherished her will never return, she no longer has a father.
"I, I went ho a few days ago, the roses have already climbed up the swing. You said before, when the roses climbed up the swing, you would grant a wish. You liar..." Seraphina tried hard to dry her tears, but it was to no avail.
Desmond Fairchild knew Seraphina needed to vent her emotions right now, so he quietly stayed by her side. Only when Seraphina gradually cald down did he take out a tissue from his pocket and carefully wipe away her tear stains.
"Dad, I’m Desmond Fairchild, Seraphina’s lover and the father of her child. I promise you, I will love only Seraphina for the rest of my life, and cherish and protect her. Don’t worry." Desmond knelt before Mr. Sinclair’s grave and said solemnly.
Seraphina stared at him blankly, with tears still on her face and eyes brimming with them, looking helpless and pitiful.
He then carefully hugged Seraphina into his arms, picked up the clothes from the ground, and draped them over her.
After the great sorrow, Seraphina was completely drained, quietly lying in Desmond’s arms. Reality was truly too cruel, she was utterly exhausted.
Upon returning ho, she imdiately lay on the bed and fell into a deep sleep, but her brows were relaxed.
"Dad, what’s wrong with Mom?" Once Desmond carefully ca out of the room, Jude Sinclair impatiently walked up and asked in a lowered voice.
"Your mom is tired and is sleeping now." Desmond said, sitting on the sofa.
Jude pursed his lips and sat beside him, "Dad, is Mom sad because of Grandpa?"
Although Seraphina had never shown him Mr. Sinclair’s photo, Jude had already secretly found Mr. Sinclair’s old photos online.
"Dad, Mom never ntioned Grandpa when we were abroad, but there’s always a period every year when she’s particularly downcast. Godmother secretly told it’s because that ti is Grandpa’s death anniversary, Dad
Mom must be very upset now, you need to stay with her." Jude said seriously.
Desmond patted his head without speaking, and Jude silently accompanied him on the sofa.
Ethan Lloyd always felt sothing was amiss lately, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Although the Lloyd Group had recently secured several collaborations and was showing signs of improvent, his mind remained uneasy.
This morning, the unease reached a peak, and Ethan irritably put down the docunt he was holding when his assistant suddenly hurriedly opened the door and ca in.
"President Lloyd, sothing’s wrong, the Tax Bureau is here." The assistant said, looking sowhat concerned.
"The Tax Bureau?" Ethan imdiately recalled the docunt that had mysteriously appeared in his email a while ago, his heart clenched, but his face remained calm, "Let them co, the company has never evaded taxes."
"No! President Lloyd, the Tax Bureau ca with the police!" The assistant said anxiously.
Ethan’s facade of calm crumbled instantly, his face slightly pale, just as he was about to say sothing, the people from the Tax Bureau entered with the police.
"Ethan Lloyd, there’s an anonymous report accusing the Lloyd Group of massive tax evasion. We need you to co with us to assist in the investigation. Please co with us." The police officer said, then pulled out handcuffs and took Ethan out of the office.
On the way, the employees of the company saw Ethan being taken away in handcuffs, and the place was thrown into chaos, panic spreading rapidly within the company.
"Ethan Lloyd was taken away by the police?" Seraphina Sinclair was sowhat surprised to hear Rosalie Quinn call, then imdiately realized that she had given the USB drive to Desmond Fairchild, so this matter was also probably Connor Fairchild’s doing.
"Why are you surprised? Isn’t this sothing you and Desmond did?" Rosalie asked curiously.
"I did get evidence of Ethan Lloyd’s tax evasion, but I gave the USB drive to Desmond. I didn’t expect him to act so quickly." Seraphina said.
"Well, you guys are a couple, it’s the sa. Didn’t he tell you about this?" Rosalie said.
"No, I haven’t talked much to him lately." Seraphina replied.
"Really, you’re still giving each other the silent treatnt over the last incident? Seraphina, I should apologize because this was my suggestion, thinking Desmond needed to settle his own ss with Anna. I didn’t expect to end up causing a fight between you two." Rosalie said, sounding increasingly guilty.
Seraphina shook her head, her issue with Desmond wasn’t about whose idea it was this ti, but rather Anna’s presence, which was like a thorn for her. She wanted Desmond to remove it, but he seed completely unaware.
Seeing Rosalie in this state, Seraphina decided to change the topic and tell Rosalie about what she had discovered, "Rosalie, my father’s death back then wasn’t an accident, it was deliberate."
Rosalie erupted upon hearing Seraphina’s words, "Deliberate??"
"Yes, deliberate. It was Ethan Lloyd who switched my father’s usual dication, causing heart failure and his sudden death." Seraphina said while gently stroking a photo of her and Mr. Sinclair on the desk.
"Ethan Lloyd!! Seraphina, wait, I’m going to kill him!" Rosalie was so furious she could explode.
She knew very well what Mr. Sinclair ant to Seraphina. When this all happened, Seraphina was still completely devoted to Ethan. At that ti, she could never have imagined that the man she loved deeply was the one responsible for her father’s death.
Rosalie felt heartbroken.
"Calm down, are you going to rush to the police station and attack him in front of the police?" Seraphina jokingly said, feeling incredibly moved inside.
"I can’t, I’m still too angry. Seraphina, let tell you, this ti the Lloyd Group will definitely go bankrupt, I’ll help you destroy him!" Rosalie said as she cald down a bit after hearing Seraphina’s words, but still inflad with anger.
Feeling both moved and helpless, Seraphina spent a long ti trying to convince her to calm down and think through what to do.
