Ivy Sumrs was taken away.
In the shadows, Rachel Shaw stood there, curling her lips.
She had been taken away by the police so many tis before, now it was Ivy Sumrs’ turn.
Old Master Lancaster didn’t die unjustly.
Who asked him to say that he wouldn’t let her enter the Lancaster Family?
If he lived any longer, wouldn’t all her fantasies crumble?
...
Ivy Sumrs sat in the interrogation room at the police station, her hands cuffed, a bright lamp shone on her, stabbing painfully into her eyes.
"Ivy Sumrs, tell us honestly what happened, the Lancaster Family is accusing you of plotting against Old Master Lancaster and coveting the Lancaster Family’s assets."
"I didn’t harm Grandpa, nor did I covet the Lancaster Family’s assets."
"Then what’s this about the equity transfer agreent the Lancaster Family ntioned, did Old Master Lancaster give it to you himself?"
"Yes."
"Prove it with evidence. Who can corroborate what you’re saying?"
"The old butler of the Lancaster Family, he was there the whole ti."
The police officer stared straight at her, as if trying to discern whether she was lying. "The old butler of the Lancaster Family is dead!"
"Dead?" Ivy Sumrs’ voice shot up, and she leaned forward anxiously, "When did this happen? How could it be..."
"Not long after Old Master Lancaster passed away, there was a car accident."
Ivy Sumrs clenched her hands into fists tightly, gritting her teeth, "How ruthless!"
"What did you say?"
Ivy Sumrs pressed her lips together tightly, tears sliding freely down the corners of her eyes.
...
Damien Lancaster was busy handling the old master’s affairs at the hospital, and only upon dealing with them for the first ti did Damien Lancaster realize how tedious it was. Yet back then, Ivy Sumrs, pregnant for seven months, bore her grief and handled everything alone.
Damien Lancaster sat on the bench outside, flicking his cigarette, enveloped in a gloomy aura.
Ivy Sumrs’ situation at the police station didn’t reach Damien Lancaster until the evening.
The car stopped at the entrance of the police station.
A luxury car with an unignorable license plate—soone important had arrived.
Footsteps echoed in the hallway, and the iron door of the cell was opened.
Damien Lancaster saw that scene.
A woman crouched in the corner, her head resting against the wall, her hair a bit disheveled, but more frightening were her empty eyes filled with tears.
Damien Lancaster stood at the door watching, his heart aching.
Slowly, he walked over and crouched in front of the woman.
A shadow fell; Ivy Sumrs’ eyes remained still.
Damien Lancaster’s voice was hoarse, "I’m taking you ho."
Ivy Sumrs’ eyes still showed no reaction.
Damien Lancaster reached out to embrace her, but then he heard the woman’s voice, "It was Rachel Shaw."
Damien Lancaster furrowed his brows.
Ivy Sumrs sat up straight, "It was Rachel Shaw who did it. Because that day Grandpa said he would never allow her to marry into the Lancaster Family, Grandpa was in her way, so she had to remove him."
Ivy Sumrs stayed there, repeatedly going over in her head what the old master had said to her that day.
Only this sentence could have made Rachel Shaw develop a murderous intent towards the old master.
"Grandpa promised then, he said he would wait for to co back.
It’s all my fault, if I hadn’t taken Grandpa out, nothing would have happened...
If... if I hadn’t left to get water, she wouldn’t have had the chance...
It’s , it’s my fault..."
Damien Lancaster hugged the heartbroken Ivy Sumrs.
Ivy Sumrs cried with heart-wrenching sorrow, as if she wanted to cry out all her tears.
Damien Lancaster had been controlling himself for a long ti, but now hearing Ivy Sumrs’ sobbing, he couldn’t hold back his tears either.
Once Ivy Sumrs had cried enough, Damien Lancaster took her out of the police station.
In the car, with the window open, the wind blew in, drying the tears on Ivy Sumrs’ face.
"I went to check the surveillance. It didn’t capture the incident’s process, but it did catch the people who passed by. You can investigate those who passed by."
"Hmm."
"Where is Grandpa now?"
"In the morgue."
"I want to see Grandpa again."
Damien Lancaster pursed his lips, turned the direction, and headed to the hospital.
Seeing the old master again, Ivy Sumrs couldn’t hold back and cried until she couldn’t stand.
Recalling what the old master said earlier in the day, the heartache was unbearable.
Grandpa said he dread that his mother ca to take him, Ivy Sumrs thought, Grandpa has now reunited with his mother.
"Damien Lancaster, Grandpa originally had sothing to tell you. He said to manage the company well."
"What else?"
Also to take good care of her and the child.
The company, she, and the child were Grandpa’s last concerns.
Ivy Sumrs looked at the old master’s pale face and said slowly, "Protect the child."
Ivy Sumrs took a deep breath and choked back a sob, "At that ti, I wanted Grandpa to tell you himself. I didn’t want to hear those things because I knew that once Grandpa finished talking, he would leave..."
Grandfather gave fifteen percent of the shares. I didn’t want to sign. I was thinking, if I didn’t sign, he’d hold on to sothing in his heart and never leave. But as it turned out..." couldn’t withstand human intervention.
Ivy Sumrs clenched her fist, turned around, and grabbed Damien Lancaster’s collar with force, her eyes flushed red as she looked at him.
"Damien Lancaster!"
Damien Lancaster reached out to support her, gazing down at her, "Yes."
"Rachel Shaw! How do you plan to deal with her? She killed Grandpa!"
"Rachel Shaw! The Shaw Family aided her. How are you going to handle them?"
Ivy Sumrs didn’t blink, her eyes filled with hatred.
Damien Lancaster, "The engagent party goes on, that day will be her death anniversary."
"Will you keep your word?"
"I’ll keep my word."
Ivy Sumrs nodded, closed her eyes, and collapsed weakly.
"Ivy!" Damien Lancaster embraced her tightly, his expression frantic, "Ivy?"
Damien Lancaster picked up Ivy Sumrs with force and left the morgue.
...
Old Master Lancaster’s funeral was three days later.
Many people ca to mourn, everyone dressed in black, a white flower pinned on their chest, the atmosphere oppressive and heavy.
Ivy Sumrs was stopped outside, not allowed to enter and pay her respects.
Gregory Lancaster said she was a sinner and had no right.
Rachel Shaw strutted past Ivy Sumrs, turned back, "Ivy Sumrs, shouldn’t you be at the police station? How did you get out? Can suspects co out so easily?"
Ivy Sumrs raised her eyelids, her voice eerie, "Aren’t you afraid?"
"Afraid? Afraid of what?"
Ivy Sumrs stepped forward, staring into Rachel Shaw’s eyes, "After doing so many bad things, Rachel Shaw, aren’t you afraid the people you’ve hard will co seeking revenge in your nightmares?"
Rachel Shaw fearlessly stared back at Ivy Sumrs, "What do I have to fear? I’m a lucky star, the Lancaster Family believes in . Unlike you, a jinx, only bringing harm."
Rachel Shaw finished speaking and was about to walk in when Zachary Lancaster strode out, stopping in front of Ivy Sumrs, "My brother asked to co get you, co in with ."
Zachary Lancaster seed to have grown overnight, unlike his previous frivolous self.
Rachel Shaw was ignored, just about to take a step when Zachary Lancaster blocked her, "My brother said the Shaw Family cannot enter, they’re an eyesore."
"I... but Uncle Lancaster invited ."
Zachary Lancaster sneered, "Don’t you know? Lancaster Family listens to my brother now."
Zachary Lancaster escorted Ivy Sumrs inside.
Leaving Rachel Shaw standing there, sowhat disheveled and flustered.
Why wouldn’t Damien Lancaster let her in?
Could it be he discovered sothing?
Impossible.
Rachel Shaw didn’t believe it, she was sure she left no flaws.
...
Ivy Sumrs stood among the crowd, looking at Old Master Lancaster’s tombstone, the photo on the tombstone showing a kind smile.
Sunlight cascaded down, Ivy Sumrs lifted her head, savoring the warm sun.
That day, Grandpa wanted to bask in the sun, but it was gloomy.
Today, Grandpa must have seen the sun.
Everyone left, Ivy Sumrs and Damien Lancaster still stood in front of the tombstone, standing there for a very long ti, neither speaking, as if they wanted to spend one last mont with the Old Master.
...
The Old Master passed, and the Shaw Family was more anxious than the Lancasters, afraid it would delay the engagent of Damien Lancaster and Rachel Shaw.
A week later, three from the Shaw Family stood at the gates of Lancaster Manor, wanting to enter, but Damien Lancaster had ordered they were not allowed in.
The Lancaster Family was still imrsed in grief, even the servants had solemn expressions.
It was Seraphina Kennedy who let them in.
The mansion’s living room was empty, once filled with the Old Master, creating a sense of ho, now everyone at school or work, leaving only Seraphina Kennedy at ho.
"Speak, why are you here?"
Penelope Page sat beside Seraphina Kennedy, patting her hand in comfort, "Seraphina, condolences, the Old Master was old and ill, alas..."
"Get to your point." Seraphina Kennedy was in no mood to listen to this.
Penelope Page exchanged a glance with Phillip Shaw, then said, "Seraphina, we’re here to inquire about the engagent, the Old Master just passed, will the engagent party proceed?"
Seraphina Kennedy frowned, glancing at them.
Penelope Page hurriedly waved her hand, "We an no offense, we know the Lancaster Family has experienced a significant event, and holding an engagent party might not be appropriate, but everything has been booked, and it’s ti to send invitations. Whether to proceed or postpone, a decision should be made."
Seraphina Kennedy saw through their intentions from the start.
They were afraid Old Master’s death would delay Rachel Shaw’s marriage.
She discussed with Gregory Lancaster, initially planning to postpone, but Damien Lancaster himself decided against it.
Seraphina Kennedy withdrew her hand from Penelope Page, "Rest assured, the engagent date remains as planned, November 1st, no postponent."
"Really? That’s wonderful."
Seraphina Kennedy frowned, casting a harsh look.
Penelope Page imdiately wiped the smile off her face.
Seraphina Kennedy, "I discussed with Gregory about postponing, but it was Damien who decided otherwise."
"Really?" Upon hearing this, Rachel Shaw’s expression lit up with delight.
