"Did Damien Lancaster say this?" Ivy Sumrs was very doubtful.
"Yes, ma’am, this is what Mr. Lancaster himself said."
Ivy Sumrs smiled, "Special Assistant Jacobs, you’re being cheeky."
Having been together for three years, she was familiar with Damien Lancaster’s way of speaking.
For him to admit he was wrong, that was impossible.
"Ma’am, this is indeed what Mr. Lancaster ant. He truly wants you to co over for dinner, otherwise, I wouldn’t dare co to ask you."
This did sound sowhat credible.
Ivy Sumrs looked down at Sophie, "Sophie, go have dinner."
"And what about you, Auntie?"
Ivy Sumrs hadn’t planned to dine there, but if she didn’t go, Sophie probably wouldn’t either, so Ivy decided to leave first.
"Auntie has other things to do. Sophie, go ahead and eat first. Auntie has to leave now. If you need anything, call with your watch, and rember what I said to you in the room."
Sophie glanced in the direction of Damien Lancaster, nodded, "Mm-hmm, I rember what you said, Auntie. Be careful on your way."
"Alright."
Ivy Sumrs ruffled Sophie’s head and turned to leave.
"Ma’am, you’re really not planning to eat here? Mr. Lancaster, he..." actually, he really wants you to stay.
"No, thank you. Please let him know for . Also, Special Assistant Jacobs, I need a favor."
"Of course, ma’am."
"Sophie is still very young. I’m worried sothing like what happened this morning might occur again when she’s away from her parents. If you’re around, could you keep an eye on her? If she’s out of sight for too long, please make sure to check on her."
"Rest assured, I will keep a close watch on Miss Sophie."
"Thank you."
With that, Ivy Sumrs left.
Seeing that Ivy hadn’t co over and had left, Damien Lancaster’s face instantly darkened.
This damned woman, does she really want him to lower his pride and beg her?
Damien took only a few bites of his al before heading out.
After finishing her al, Sophie stopped Annelise Lancaster.
Annelise was about to leave, but Sophie stepped in front of her again, blocking her way.
Annelise’s deanor was cold, "What do you want?"
Sophie’s little face was serious, with hands on her hips, "I didn’t provoke you. Why did you push into the water?"
Faced with Sophie’s questioning, Annelise’s expression turned even colder, "Because you’re trying to steal my dad. I won’t let you take my dad."
Annelise glared at Sophie with anger.
Damien didn’t hug her, didn’t let her call him dad, and wouldn’t even look at her.
Yet with Sophie, he hugged her and gave her candy. The stark contrast made the smart and sensitive Annelise painfully aware that Damien didn’t like her, but liked Sophie.
And when she heard that Sophie would be living here too, Annelise naturally saw her as soone coming to steal her dad.
And thus, hostility was born.
She had been the one chosen from the many children in the orphanage by Seraphina Kennedy, so how could she possibly be innocent, without any calculations?
"I never intended to take your dad, and besides..."
"Besides what?"
Besides, he is my dad. Sophie said silently to herself.
"Anyway, if you treat like that again, I will definitely tell Uncle Lancaster." Sophie’s tone was clearly much harsher than before.
With resentnt, Annelise watched Sophie walk away.
She had been adopted with difficulty and could not go back to the orphanage.
So, Damien could only be her dad, and no one was going to take him away from her.
...
In the evening, Noah Scott had arranged to have dinner with Ivy Sumrs.
Under the night sky, the man wore a black shirt, his collar casually open, and his handso, slightly devilish face void of expression, as he sat there in a relaxed, lazy manner, holding a phone in one hand and a bottle of red wine in the other.
Ivy walked over and took the wine from his hand; a large part of it was already gone.
What is this?
Calling her for dinner but had already drinking away by himself.
"What are you doing? Drowning your sorrows in alcohol?"
Drowning his sorrows was unlikely.
This guy was always up for a challenge, what troubles would need to be drowned in alcohol?
"Why are you only here now?"
"Have you been waiting long?"
"Not long, just an hour." Noah raised an eyebrow, set the phone down, and took another swig from the bottle.
"Uh..." Ivy pursed her lips, "Wasn’t it eight o’clock?"
"Does your family eat dinner at eight?"
"..."
Ivy Sumrs sat across from him, "I probably got the ti wrong."
The man chuckled lightly, and Ivy called the waiter over to order, then looked up at him.
Noah remained in the sa lounged posture, carrying a sense of relaxed arrogance, coupled with that enchanting face of his.
He was practically an irresistible existence to all won.
Ivy noticed the waitresses frequently passing by.
The food ca quickly.
Only then did Ivy realize that normally the busiest restaurant had only them there.
Ivy Sumrs was surprised, "You booked the whole place?"
"I just wanted so peace and quiet."
Ivy understood, wealthy people always prefer not to be disturbed.
"You’re acting quite strange today, why did you drink so much?"
Noah Scott was silent, he put down the wine and looked at Ivy, "Ivy Sumrs, do you rember what I said last ti? I helped you five tis, and you promised one thing. Now, it’s more than five tis."
Ivy hadn’t forgotten, she nodded, "I haven’t forgotten, just tell , as long as it’s within my power, I promise you."
Noah raised an eyebrow, "Promise anything?"
Ivy nodded, "Yes, as long as I can do it, I promise."
Ivy took a bite of the salad in front of her, only to see the man in front of her suddenly fall silent.
When Ivy looked up, she found this guy quietly watching her.
They had known each other for more than five years, Noah was both her boss and her friend, she’d never seen him so quiet before, and suddenly Ivy felt a bit uneasy.
"You..." Ivy asked with a puzzled look, "Are you planning sothing big, boss? I’ve been working hard for you for five years, be kind to your older employees, and don’t make overly difficult requests."
Noah chuckled lightly, his seductive Adam’s apple bobbed twice gently, he tilted his head back and gulped a few more sips of wine.
There was another mont of silence.
"Stay with for a while."
"That simple? I feel a bit embarrassed then."
"In your dreams." Noah turned to look at her, "I haven’t decided yet, I’ll save it first, and when you owe more, you can repay all at once."
Ivy pursed her lips, "Alright then."
One person was eating while the other was drinking, and the distant waitstaff whispered enviously.
"So handso, truly handso, that gentleman ca here at five o’clock and waited for this lady for three hours."
"Key is he’s really patient, didn’t get angry, and the way he looks at that lady is full of love, I’m so envious."
"They must be a couple, the man is handso, the woman is beautiful, my gosh, what a divine love story."
Ivy had nothing on tonight, didn’t mind staying a bit longer with this guy who seed like sothing was on his mind.
Just then her phone rang.
It was Zachary Lancaster’s anxious and serious voice, "Sister-in-law, grandfather’s in trouble."
"Grandfather’s in trouble? What happened?"
"My dad angered grandfather into fainting, he’s being resuscitated now."
Ivy stood up imdiately, "I’m coming over right now."
Zachary had told her before that the old master’s health wasn’t good, and now he had fainted.
Ivy was very worried.
"I can’t stay with you here, don’t drive back later."
After speaking, Ivy hurriedly left, not forgetting to call Yanis Stone as she walked, asking him to pick Noah up.
She was worried this guy might drive himself back, he’d drunk quite a bit tonight, it was too dangerous.
Very quickly, she arrived at the hospital.
Ivy jogged to the ergency room entrance.
The Lancaster Family were all there, even the uncles had co.
It was easy to imagine how serious the situation was.
"Zachary, how is grandfather?" Ivy asked, her voice trembling.
"Still hasn’t co out yet."
"You still dare to co." Gregory Lancaster strode towards Ivy, in his fury, he raised his hand to slap Ivy across the face.
Zachary helped block Gregory’s hand and pushed it away, gritting his teeth in anger, "You got grandfather so upset, don’t put the bla on others."
Ivy frowned, "What exactly happened?"
Zachary coldly curled his lips, "What else could it be, he was asking grandfather for help over Rachel Shaw, grandfather refused to help, so he argued with grandfather, calling him senile and saying he only sided with you."
Ivy pressed her lips tightly together, looking towards the tightly closed ergency room door, her heart pounding rapidly.
"Ivy Sumrs, you’re the most heartless."
Seraphina Kennedy stepped forward, "Grandfather didn’t let tell you, but I have to say it now. When you left back then, grandfather got seriously ill and was diagnosed with lung cancer. All these years, grandfather has been undergoing treatnt, holding on with all his strength hoping you’d bring the child back, but what about you? What did you do?"
"What, lung cancer?" Ivy’s mind buzzed, she stood there stiffly.
Seraphina angrily pushed her, "Grandfather has been so good to you, you’re nothing but an ingrate."
Ivy stumbled backward, just then a large hand supported her from behind.
Damien Lancaster had just arrived, and he too was full of worry.
The ergency room door opened, and everyone surged forward.
"Doctor, how is it? How is our grandfather?"
"Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster, I had previously warned you about his condition. In his state, he must not get upset, why can’t you take better care of his emotions?"
The doctor shook his head helplessly.
The look on the doctor’s face was enough to indicate grandfather’s condition was poor.
All Ivy could think about was grandfather’s cancer, the situation isn’t great...
Ivy was trembling, filled with regret and anguish, suddenly, she dashed into the ergency room.
Just as they were pushing grandfather out, he was awake, and when he saw Ivy, his eyes turned misty.
Grandfather moved his fingers, signaling the doctor to remove the oxygen mask from his face.
The doctor saw grandfather insist on speaking and had no choice but to comply.
"Grandfather... grandfather... I’m sorry..." Ivy wept, kneeling directly in front of grandfather’s hospital bed.
Grandfather’s body was weak now, his pale lips parted, but his voice was very faint.
Ivy, crying, bent her ear closer, "Grandfather... what do you want to say?"
Grandfather spoke with difficulty, "Ivy... grandfather... grandfather’s ti might... might not be much longer, can you tell grandfather, back then... back then did you leave the child? Did you?"
