Regarding Damien Lancaster’s words, Ivy Sumrs gently tugged at the corner of her lips without making a sound.
The old man, however, was very much in agreent and felt much better.
"Get out of here."
Seraphina Kennedy angrily rebuked Zachary Lancaster, who enjoyed watching the chaos.
Annelise, seeing that Damien Lancaster didn’t like her, had tears in her eyes with sadness.
Seraphina Kennedy imdiately walked over, glanced at Damien Lancaster, "After everything Ivy has done to you, you’re still protecting her?"
Seraphina Kennedy led Annelise away, "Annelise, don’t be sad. Grandma will take care of you in the future."
"Grandma, if no one likes , I can go back to the orphanage."
Seraphina Kennedy’s heart ached even more hearing such sensible words from the child, "No, no one will send you back to the orphanage."
Seraphina Kennedy directly took Annelise upstairs.
She gave Annelise the room she previously refused to give to Sophie.
During dinner, Annelise was very well-behaved and didn’t dare to eat much, just holding her little bowl and eating quietly in small bites.
The old man and Damien Lancaster didn’t put much pressure on Annelise, after all, she was just a pitiable orphan brought back by Seraphina Kennedy to spite Ivy Sumrs.
The dinner was not enjoyable, and the mood was very low.
After dinner, Damien Lancaster drove Ivy Sumrs back.
In the car, the sumr’s hot wind blew into the vehicle, but Ivy Sumrs didn’t feel hot, because next to her sat a cold block of ice, making it intimidating to get closer.
Since getting in the car, neither of them spoke. Damien Lancaster held the steering wheel with one hand, his handso face expressionless, looking particularly calm.
But at this mont, his heart was not as calm as it appeared.
They arrived at the hospital.
Ivy Sumrs got out of the car.
At the sa ti, Damien Lancaster also got out of the car.
Damien Lancaster said, "Don’t you have anything to say about that child?"
Ivy Sumrs stopped and turned, "Say what?"
After a pause, she spoke again, "That’s Lancaster family business, nothing to do with , I just..."
"Just what?"
Damien Lancaster stared at Ivy Sumrs, trying to see unusual emotions on her face.
But Ivy Sumrs simply said, "I just feel sorry for Grandpa, he was really upset today."
Feel sorry for Grandpa?
Ha.
She’s indeed a heartless woman, truly willing to let the Lancaster Family use that child as a substitute, to pamper that child.
Damien Lancaster sneered, "Grandpa was upset because of you, Ivy Sumrs, you’re truly a heartless woman."
Ivy Sumrs slightly raised her eyelids.
Heartless?
Indeed, she’s heartless, but wasn’t it the situation that forced her to be that way?
Ivy Sumrs took a deep breath, watching Damien Lancaster getting in the car to leave.
She spoke, "Damien Lancaster."
Damien Lancaster stopped, thinking she had changed her mind, only to hear her say, "Nine o’clock tomorrow at the civil affairs bureau, don’t forget."
Damien Lancaster pressed his thin lips tightly, clenching his back molars, his eyes dark and angry as he stared at her.
Every word Ivy Sumrs said could drive him to fury!
...
Ivy Sumrs went to Sophie’s hospital room to see Sophie.
The two people taking care of Sophie were attentive, currently telling Sophie a story.
Ivy Sumrs didn’t go in, just stood at the door watching for a while, then returned to her own hospital room.
Tonight at the Lancaster Family’s, she wasn’t without feelings.
Seraphina Kennedy went to the orphanage to bring a child back, also to fight with her, to tell her that the Lancaster Family doesn’t necessarily need her to hand over the children.
Ivy Sumrs had thought about whether she was too selfish to hide the three children, not letting them et their father, grandfather, grandmother, or great-grandfather.
But as soon as she had such thoughts, she would picture the situation in the Lancaster Family.
Rachel Shaw would surely beco the Lancaster family daughter-in-law, and if her children were brought back to the Lancaster Family, facing Rachel Shaw as a stepmother, wouldn’t it be a tough trial for them?
She didn’t hold any hopes that Damien Lancaster would stand by her children.
Because with a stepmother, there’s a stepfather. Damien Lancaster hadn’t spent ti with the children, the feelings weren’t deep, and with Rachel Shaw’s cunning, only her children would be hurt in the end.
Now at this critical juncture of divorce, Ivy Sumrs extinguished all irrational thoughts.
The next morning.
Damien Lancaster’s car was waiting for Ivy Sumrs outside the hospital.
Upstairs, watching Ivy Sumrs get into Damien Lancaster’s car, Rachel Shaw curled her lips.
She knew they were getting divorced today.
And yesterday, that divorce agreent had already been signed by Ivy Sumrs.
Ivy Sumrs was sensible enough not to cling to Damien Lancaster for more.
And that ten thousand, consider it her alms to Ivy Sumrs.
In the car, Ivy Sumrs and Damien Lancaster sat in the back seat.
Damien Lancaster looked busy, reviewing docunts, while Ivy Sumrs remained silent.
But Damien Lancaster had been waiting for Ivy Sumrs to talk to him, waiting until his expression turned grim.
In the end, he spoke first.
"Do you have any objections to the property division in the divorce agreent?"
Property division?
Ivy Sumrs tugged at her lips; she hadn’t ntioned it, but Damien Lancaster brought it up himself.
If given, then given; if not, then not.
What did he an by giving ten thousand?
Didn’t he wonder if he’d be embarrassed when the staff at the civil affairs bureau saw it?
Ivy Sumrs lightly pressed her lips, "I have no objections."
Damien Lancaster closed the docunt, "Even though it’s a divorce, for three years, I won’t treat you poorly. The compensation stated in the divorce agreent is for you."
Treat you poorly, the compensation for you?
Ivy Sumrs sneered internally, lifted her eyes, looked at Damien Lancaster, and asked casually, "Should I still thank you?"
Damien Lancaster heard the sarcasm in her words.
"You’re not satisfied?"
Ivy Sumrs tugged slightly at the corner of her mouth.
She wondered if Damien Lancaster was resentful and deliberately offered her ten thousand dollars to humiliate her, telling her that her three years were worth only ten thousand dollars to him.
Otherwise, Ivy couldn’t understand why he would ask if she was satisfied with this issue.
Ivy Sumrs took a deep breath, "Satisfied."
Damien Lancaster could tell from her tone that she had objections.
In the property division, what he gave Ivy Sumrs was not little; it was enough for her to live in luxury even with a child.
But she still had comnts; it was rare to see Ivy Sumrs being greedy for money.
"Ivy Sumrs, I always thought you weren’t interested in money. Was I wrong? If you think it’s too little, just say it directly."
Ivy Sumrs heard him accusing her of being greedy for money and got a little angry, "Damien Lancaster, is it necessary to ntion such a small amount over and over? Do you not feel embarrassed yourself?"
Such a small amount?
Damien Lancaster didn’t expect Ivy Sumrs to have such an appetite.
"How much do you want if that’s not enough? Such a big appetite, aren’t you afraid of bursting?"
Ivy Sumrs laughed lightly.
She! Truly! Is! Afraid! Of! Dying!
Afraid of being stuffed to death by ten thousand dollars!
Originally, she didn’t think much of that ten thousand, but hearing his words, it felt more like humiliation.
She accepted Damien Lancaster’s ten thousand dollar property division, but not his humiliation.
They arrived at the civil affairs bureau.
The two got out of the car.
Ivy Sumrs walked straight inside.
The civil affairs bureau was quite crowded today, full of young couples, probably here for marriage licenses.
Ivy Sumrs checked the date and realized today was the Qixi Festival.
Getting divorced on Qixi, they really were a dampener.
They had an appointnt, so they were the first pair.
The two sat down on the chairs.
The staff, knowing the man in front of them was Damien Lancaster, was particularly cautious, and asked, "Are you two here to apply for a divorce?"
"Yes."
Ivy Sumrs nodded and took out the prepared docunts.
But Damien Lancaster didn’t move.
He regretted it; he regretted it as soon as he spoke out in anger.
"Your docunts." Ivy Sumrs reminded Damien Lancaster.
Damien Lancaster pressed his lips tightly, looking at Ivy Sumrs, "Do we really have to go this far?"
"What else?"
Damien Lancaster’s eyes were filled with anger.
The two locked eyes briefly, and the staff felt a chill in the air.
Damien Lancaster clenched his back teeth tightly, took out his docunts, and placed them on the table.
The staff asked more cautiously, "Why are you two getting divorced?"
"He has a bad temper, and we don’t get along. Could you hurry it up? Here is the divorce agreent."
Ivy Sumrs handed over the divorce agreent.
The staff looked at their divorce agreent, and whatever they saw made their pupils dilate with surprise. After confirming they hadn’t misread, they asked kindly.
"Are you two sure about the property division in the divorce agreent?"
The staff looked at Ivy Sumrs, as if they’d never seen such a pitiful woman.
Marrying a billionaire CEO, and at divorce, almost walking away with nothing.
Leaving with nothing would probably be better than this.
What’s ten thousand bucks?
Isn’t this humiliation?
"No problem," Ivy Sumrs said.
The staff’s gaze toward Damien Lancaster changed, and they shook their head.
Damien Lancaster frowned, noticing the staff’s change of attitude towards him.
And at this mont, Ivy Sumrs stood up, took a wad of cash from her bag, and handed it to Damien Lancaster.
"Here you go."
Damien Lancaster looked at what appeared to be ten thousand dollars in cash and asked with furrowed brows, "What does this an?"
Ivy Sumrs spoke loudly, "The property division you gave , ten thousand dollars, you keep it, I don’t want it."
Ivy Sumrs’ shout drew the attention of those in line around them.
"Property division, giving the woman ten thousand dollars? So stingy?"
"The woman is so pitiful. The man is well-dressed, doesn’t seem broke, and yet he gives the woman ten thousand dollars like he’s dismissing a beggar."
"Exactly, never seen such a miserly man. Ma’am, you did well, you should slap him with that money, as if you need that ten thousand, looking down on whom?" So even cheered Ivy Sumrs on.
Ivy Sumrs was indeed angry; he could give her ten thousand dollars, but not use it to humiliate her.
At this mont, Ivy Sumrs was being deliberate; she originally planned to give it to him privately, but now she did it openly.
Damien Lancaster couldn’t understand what Ivy Sumrs was saying.
He frowned deeply, "What ten thousand dollars? What do you an?"
Ivy Sumrs raised an eyebrow, denying it now?
"Wasn’t I clear enough? I don’t want the ten thousand dollars ntioned in your divorce agreent, I’m giving it back to you now."
