The place Gregory Lancaster arranged to et Ivy Sumrs was an elegantly traditional teahouse.
As Ivy walked in and pushed open the private room door, a faint aroma of tea wafted out.
Gregory Lancaster sat there in casual attire, with a serious expression on his face.
Diana Dalton made a gesture for Ivy Sumrs to enter, then quietly exited the room.
With the door closed, Ivy Sumrs observed the middle-aged man sitting and sipping his tea. His movents were unhurried, ignoring her presence and not inviting her to sit.
Ivy Sumrs understood that this was an attempt to intimidate her.
In the past, Gregory Lancaster disliked her, but with the elder around, he couldn’t say much.
But now, due to leaving after the abortion, even if the elder wanted her to stay, Gregory Lancaster had reasons to argue back and show her no kindness.
However, it didn’t matter. Ivy Sumrs wasn’t here to see his kindness; if he didn’t invite her to sit, she would seat herself.
Thud!
A teacup was placed heavily on the solid wooden table, and Gregory Lancaster raised his authoritative eyes to look at Ivy Sumrs, "Didn’t your elders teach you manners? Sitting without being asked?"
"Does Uncle Lancaster prefer to be looked down upon?" Ivy Sumrs calmly retorted.
The style of this teahouse was a Japanese-style low tea table. Standing, Ivy Sumrs naturally looked down at the seated Gregory Lancaster.
Gregory Lancaster frowned, his eyes sharpening at Ivy Sumrs’ retort, scrutinizing her, "You haven’t changed much from five years ago."
"Uncle Lancaster jests, today’s is not who I was back then."
"Still the sa as the person I didn’t like back then."
Gregory Lancaster spoke, taking another sip of tea.
Ivy Sumrs lightly raised her eyebrows, showing no displeasure on her face, "It’s alright. After all, not even you can be liked by everyone, right?"
Gregory Lancaster wanted to intimidate and humiliate her; naturally, she would not passively accept it.
"Uncle Lancaster didn’t summon today just to humiliate , did you?"
Ivy Sumrs disliked beating around the bush and spoke directly.
Gregory Lancaster gave Ivy Sumrs a deep look, "I asked you here for an explanation. You said you wanted to divorce Damien, and I even sent soone to help you, yet you’re still here, not divorced. Do you have nothing to say about that?"
Ivy Sumrs lightly pressed her lips together, speaking neither humbly nor arrogantly, "I believe your assistant has briefed you on the situation then. I did my best; it’s not that I don’t want a divorce, it’s just that..."
"Hmph."
Gregory Lancaster interrupted her with a cold sneer, "Really? Whether you couldn’t leave or didn’t want to leave, only you truly know. Back then, considering your father saved the elder, I agreed to let you marry my most cherished son. Yet, within three years, you gave the Lancaster Family such a surprise. Ivy Sumrs, the Lancaster Family underestimated you."
Ivy Sumrs knew that soone like Gregory Lancaster, accustod to looking down from high above, would never empathize with her past grievances, so she didn’t waste her breath.
"Is Uncle Lancaster here to settle old scores? Divorce is the real issue, right?"
Gregory Lancaster, after hearing this, said nothing further, coldly uttering two words, "Co in."
At the entrance, Diana Dalton entered carrying a check, gently placing it in front of Ivy Sumrs.
Ivy Sumrs glanced down at the check before her, tugging her lips imperceptibly.
The check was substantial.
Ten billion indeed.
"Quite a generous offer."
Gregory Lancaster took a slow sip of tea, "I wasn’t planning to intervene in this, but now I have no choice. Ivy Sumrs, because of what you did five years ago, there’s no way you’re stepping back into the Lancaster Family. Take the money and leave, without making things ugly."
Ivy Sumrs stared at the check, her slender fingers lightly tapping on it, remaining silent.
"Not enough? You can have more."
Ivy Sumrs chuckled softly.
In Gregory Lancaster’s eyes, even if Damien Lancaster was unwilling to divorce, it would be because she, Ivy Sumrs, had used so underhanded tactics to seduce him.
The reason she used these tactics was her reluctance to give up the position of Mrs. Lancaster, or perhaps the money wasn’t enough!
Of course, the main reason Gregory Lancaster thought this way was his fundantal disdain for Ivy Sumrs.
He believed Ivy Sumrs had no family background or identity, and compared to Damien Lancaster, it was like the lowest commoner matched with the esteed son of a noble family.
Such a vast class disparity made him never truly regard her as a person.
"Does Uncle Lancaster think I’m after money, hence clinging to Damien and not letting go?"
Gregory Lancaster raised an eyebrow, silently acknowledging Ivy Sumrs’ words.
Ivy Sumrs chuckled, "Damien Lancaster is fine, but I, Ivy Sumrs, am not inferior."
"You’re not worthy of Damien."
"Is that so? In my eyes, he’s the one not worthy of . It’s not that he abandoned , it’s that I am leaving him. I will only live better without him. Instead of persuading to leave him, perhaps you should go back and have him sign the divorce papers and bring it to . I’ll sign imdiately."
With that, Ivy Sumrs stood up to leave.
Just as she turned around, she noticed a familiar silhouette moving through the door’s reflection.
This silhouette was very familiar to her.
Ivy Sumrs’ eyes shifted slightly, a look of understanding crossing her gaze.
After a mont’s hesitation, she turned around, lowered her gaze, picked up the large check, and looked at Gregory Lancaster, "But who would refuse money?"
Ivy Sumrs secured the check, "I agree to the divorce, considering this money as my divorce settlent. But Uncle Lancaster should go back and find out who truly is stalling on the divorce."
Whether the divorce happens is not sothing she can control.
She certainly wants the divorce; the unwilling one is Damien Lancaster.
After speaking, Ivy Sumrs opened the door, revealing a tall and imposing figure ahead.
Indeed.
It was Damien Lancaster.
At this mont, his handso face looked as if it could cut through steel.
Ivy Sumrs slightly clenched her fist, suppressing the peculiar emotions inside, while pretending to be relaxed and cheerful, raising her hand with the check between her fingers.
"Divorce settlent, thank you. Don’t waste your father’s money."
With that, Ivy Sumrs sidestepped Damien Lancaster, leaving without pausing.
Damien Lancaster didn’t stop her; he lifted his sharp, cold eyes, casting them towards the man in front.
Gregory Lancaster picked up his tea cup, took a sip, and slowly spoke, "Did you hear everything?"
