It took all of five minutes for Silas to hit his threshold in terms of squeaking, giggling as well as crying.

He escaped his sisters and ran to safety in the arms of his wife except... Arabella was already busy.

Indeed, while Remus kept himself busy by comparing his hand to hers, Persephone had joined the young woman and Arthur outside but had decided not to go to her daughters.

"Yes, he is every bit what I thought he would be," his mother’s voice had reached his ears long before Silas had co near them.

"That is wonderful!" Arabella chirped, "What will your next step be then?"

"Frankly, I am not sure," the vampiress sighed.

Silas ambled the high rose hedges from a distance, his initial intention being to give them a mont to speak freely but, in the end, eavesdropping beca just too tempting.

"How co?" there wasn’t urgency in Arabella’s tone per se, but a shift lay there for sure.

"How do I even put it?" after a short pause, Persephone continued, "I feel as though I stalked Edgar’s existence and gotten to know who he was as a person since his arrival, but... He hasn’t gotten to do the sa with which I believe isn’t quite fair to him,"

A soft, little chuckle escaped Arabella before an answer, "I’ve gotten to witness just how keen, how sharp and reliable a vampire’s senses are however, mother...," she trailed off montarily, "I am afraid they don’t stand far ahead of human senses when it cos to assessing one’s character from a distance. Both can only go so far and could never fair against the act of speaking the person directly,"

"Fair point," the vampiress pushed another sigh, "As much as I try to see... There is still a part of that is...,"

"Afraid," Arabella half suggested.

"Well, I suppose so. It has been quite a while since my beloved Eric,"

At the ntion of his father, Eric’s last words to him in limbo galloped back to the frontlines of his thoughts.

On the topic of moving on they were... He had only co to see him when called upon but ultimately, his soul had long since moved on and was at peace which was all that Silas had hoped for.

"He seems happy now, but what if a century down the line, he decides that it is too much for him and that he can only handle so much. Despite fully knowing about the ability of Silas’ blood, I still advised him not to court you at the beginning. You remain a human at the core... What if you choose to stop living... Because it just becos too much?"

As much as it ached to hear those words, Silas simply bit his tongue for failing to argue the point in his own head.

His heart skipped a few beats at that idea alone.

What if she chose to no longer live?

At the end of the day, she could simply choose to grow old and leave him behind...

It was certainly sothing to consider with more heed.

"I, unfortunately, cannot offer you any guarantees. Neither for Edgar, who has to make his own choice, nor for as I have decided to live not just for Silas but for myself as well. I want this life and even though I was not in full control over how I ca here... I know, deep down, that I made the conscious decision to leave my old life. I planned ahead and then executed my plan. Despite everything that happened," Arabella took a deep breath, "there is an albeit ek part of that’s telling that my actions are the ones that set the wheels in motion,"

"That you did, my dear," the sweet yet graceful smile on Persephone was audible through her tone alone.

"In any case, regarding Edgar, please take your ti and consider your thoughts on the matter from as many angles as you may," Arabella paused for a second before adding, "You will have our, at least my, full support no matter what,"

That was it as Silas decided he’d heard enough and decided to join them by the flower beds.

"Why were you hiding?" that little ruffian’s voice ca to his ears as nails against a board.

"I was not hiding," Silas cleared his throat.

But the damage was already done as Arabella’s cheeks flared red whereas his mother copied his action in clearing her throat while attempting to keep her composure.

"Yes, you were! You were in the-"

"How has Arthur been doing?"

The boy was not allowed to finish his sentence as the vampire imdiately diverted the attention which left Remus pouty.

"I believe he is quite fond of these crocus flowers as he’s kept on staring at them," Arabella glanced back at Arthur, her smile dimming a tad.

"Grace must have sold him on their virtues," Persephone chuckled, "Crocus flowers are her favorites,"

"She’s done it. She’s totally broken him and beyond repair at that," Silas sighed.

"He is happy," Remus’ voice rose again, his head tilted as his azure eyes lay strictly on Arthur as though closely studying him.

"What do you an?" Arabella’s voice faltered once throughout her question.

"I don’t know how to explain it, but I can sll it," the boy shrugged.

Happy? At his core, Silas itched to grasp the idea as his sense of scent failed to notice what Remus had supposedly caught.

The hopeful look that Arabella gave him in that mont tore sothing in him.

Had he missed the signs? How co? A vampire’s senses were just as keen if not sharper than a wolf’s so, how co?

In Arthur, sothing shifted too. His heartbeat had been completely steady up until Remus spoke, but in that second after his words... There was a spike... Not to ntion, his gemstone eyes snapped onto the boy for a split second of ti.

It wasn’t much, but it was sothing for sure.

It certainly ant a lot more to his wife though as Arabella’s heart fluttered in its cage uncontrollably.
