Pushing the door to her room open, Arabella's first stop had been the table where she usually took her als.

Her hands would have celebrated their newfound freedom from the weight of the poem anthology that had caused her wrists to ache if it weren't, of course, for the... Noises that had traveled to the young woman's ears.

From the bathroom they ca or so thought Arabella. Thus, and very carefully, she approached the door, practically tiptoeing all the way there.

The sounds multiplied, were random and sudden. Sotis they were reminiscent of footsteps, other tis of rustling water, but there was also the sound of hard surfaces bumping together.

Heart thumping in her throat, Arabella's hand very slowly extended towards the knob that twisted right as she'd been about to grip it.

The door was yanked open in an abrupt manner only for the young woman to co face to face with the last person she desired to see at that mont.

Edna's figure froze inches away from Arabella's, her ocean blue eyes wide open, boring into the gemstone green ones they had in front of them.

The maid took a sharp breath an instant before the look of surprise on her sowhat faded, "Oh! Her highness ca back early!" she sneered, a shaky side smirk on her lips.

"What... Were you doing there, Edna?" Arabella took slightly longer to recover her wits, eyebrows further knitting together with every second that passed.

In response, Edna crossed her arms over her chest and stared at the young woman, looking annoyed, "Well, thanks to you, I am a maid now. I go wherever the head maid orders to,"

Upon hearing those words being uttered, Arabella felt the need to inhale deeply as the temperature around her seed to climb higher out of the blue. She said nothing and instead leaned her upper body to the side in order to glance behind the maid, at the bathroom.

"You seem troubled, princess," Edna put herself between the bathroom and Arabella's eyes again, "What is it that worries you so much?" she made the letters of her last words pop in her mouth, "I was tasked to check the water in the bathrooms of all rooms in use,"

On one hand, her excuse to be present in the room sounded legitimate enough, but on another... It was all odd and out of sorts.

In the very few tis the two had crossed paths, Edna had never given Arabella such straight to the point answers before, even when she'd asked.

However, Arabella's train of thought was cut short when Edna neared her suspiciously, seemingly studying her neck and then... Her chest.

"Hum... He left no marks on your perfect little body," she scoffed, "Or perhaps you're using those sleeves to hide them,"

Edna's warm breath had grazed Arabella's skin, causing her to step back and put an arm up, shielding her chest, "What marks would who leave?" she asked, a tad indignant.

"You do not need to keep that good girl act up. Especially not with ," Edna's grin widened, "You can speak the truth at least once; you liked it. You loved it, didn't you? I bet you begged for more,"

"Excuse ?" Arabella's hand clenched tighter around her locket.

"You heard ...," Edna trailed off, her eyes traveling up and down Arabella's figure, "you do look like the type to enjoy such treatnt. Where did his hands linger the most on you?"

"Please, watch your wording!" Arabella's features hardened as she maintained a defensive posture in front of the maid.

"Or what?" Edna taunted, "You look so flustered. Does that an I am right? He did have his way with you, didn't he?"

"Why are you speaking of such revolting things? The Master has not laid a finger on !"

"You poor thing!" Edna feigned a pouty expression, softening her tone for a mont before her chilling grin resurfaced, "Did he take you against your will? Oh! What a tragedy it must have been to endure his... Touch!" she chuckled.

Those poisonous words had slithered their way beneath Arabella's skin and were felt as they creeped and crawled all through.

Both of her hands had hastened to grasp her own arms and rub them up and down to battle the chill Edna's sayings had inflicted upon her.

"Don't be ashad of it. If it happened, you still lived the dream of many," Edna's eyebrow twitched as she crept closer to Arabella who took another step back from the maid, "Though from the way you flaunt your... Possessions," Edna's eyes snapped towards Arabella's breasts, "You were asking for just that! Don't deny it! Harlots like you would stop at nothing to achieve their goals!" she spat those last words through a stiff jaw.

"You seem well inford about those thods yourself, Edna! That might be your way of doing things, but it sure is not mine,"

Arabella had held her tongue for enough, her frustration spilling out with the words.

"You dare insult !" Edna's gaze darkened.

"Please, leave this room at once!" Arabella no longer had the strength to withstand Edna's sight.

"I do not take orders from you!"

"Then perhaps I shall solicit help from soone you will no doubt obey,"

The young woman turned towards her nightstand and walked, aiming for the summoning bell sitting there.

"There it is! Your true nature is finally shining! It wasn't enough for you to snatch my spot, you wouldn't rest before you'd have them throw out as well, won't you?! Well, I will never give you that satisfaction!"

Edna hurled as she stomped over to the door before slamming it behind herself, her voice drawing further the more distance she traversed.

Left alone in the room, Arabella's trembling body collapsed onto the bed where she sat rigid, clutching at her locket for so much-needed comfort.
