"State your intentions, wolf!"

Instead of answering his question, Remus’ azure eyes flickered onto Arabella who knelt by his side, "You didn’t co back! Why didn’t you co back? Father said you’d co back, but you never did," through many broken coughs, his abused throat had managed to articulate.

"What do you an?" she muttered.

"You do not speak with her! Answer !"

To an outside onlooker, Silas appeared the calst, both his tone and voice steady, he maintained his position, only loosening his grip to allow the boy so breathing room.

She knew otherwise for her body sat so close, the heat his exuded could lt mountains of ice with one wave alone.

But Remus completely ignored the vampire once again to address Arabella, "Was it my fault? Was it sothing I said?"

His words made no sense to the young woman, "What?" being the only question she’d managed to murmur before Silas took action again.

"Enough of this!" with the sa hand he’d been pinning the boy, he whisked his weight off the ground with unnerving ease before locking him around the middle right under his own arm.

"No! Let see her!" flipped around and forced to stare at the dirt, Remus screeched, his arms and legs thrashing and clawing at Silas again as his eyes frantically searched for Arabella’s figure, "Let go, blood sucker!"

Once anew, his efforts were futile as the vampire showed not a hint of bother in trapping the little body that squird against him.

He took to the path leading towards the manor and paid no more attention to Remus’ increasing agitation.

"Rem! Please calm down. You are safe," Arabella ran forward, "We will talk, but you have to calm down first,"

Not another word was necessary as Remus’ temper tantrum ceased in a blink. The rest of the way back ho was filled with stifling silence, each of them dwelling around their own thoughts.

There was much to uncrate after the scene that had unfolded with so of the questions riddling their minds being shared while others were proper and unique to each.

First, there was the obvious, linking back to Remus’ sudden intrusion onto a vampire’s land and insistance to see Arabella.

Then there was the way in which he had instantly simred down when she spoke to him whereas, he, Silas, did not encounter an ounce of that sa luck with him upon trying.

The kid was fearless and had one goal in mind. That of getting to Arabella and the sheer thought of it alone displeased the vampire.

But none of it held a candle to the way she’d threatened to never forgive him for the sake of a child she t only once, one that represented great danger to her at that.

The knots it’d yield in his chest were relentless, blocking the free flow of air that usually ca and went with such ease.

Why was his fate so important to her that she’d be ready to sever any ties with him for him? Was it because she wasn’t fond of violence? Or was it simply because it was a child?

Wiping at her tears from the ordeal and in her own bubble, Arabella tossed and turned a different predicant around. Eyes darting between Remus one minute and then Silas’ figure in the next.

The way he’d spoken as if she was supposed to return to their den all along iced the blood running through her veins.

What would compel a child to believe such ideas in the first place? Did his father put him up to it? And if so, to what purpose? To what end would he risk the life of his own son so carelessly?

What sort of monster would be so cruel as to do that to their own child?

But speaking of monsters... Walking by Silas’ side after the behavior he’d exhibited resounded differently throughout her body.

Part of her, the reasonable part she thought, attempted to reassure her and explain it was a natural reaction. After all, Remus was trespassing, and he wasn’t just a child. He was a wolf child, aning the possibility his claws could rip her throat out was not to be questioned.

But still... No matter how hard she tried, the image of him thrashing and squealing for his life wouldn’t leave her.

The mory of how ruthless and ready to snuff the kid out of existence Silas was without ever second guessing himself, left the most bitter of tastes in the back of her throat.

"Wolf children are not the sa as human children," it was Silas that shattered the unbearable quiet between them.

"I am aware," she whispered, eyes fleeing towards the ground.

"He has the ability to crush your skull with his bare hands," he added.

"I’d never do that!" Remus squeaked.

"Silence!" the ice in Silas’ voice was sharp as walls of thorns without ever rising above simple statent range.

Before Remus could hurl any retort that would further aggravate the vampire carrying him, Arabella interfered in the hopes of calming him down again, "Remus, please. Keep quiet,"

Much to her surprise, it worked like a charm. The boy uttered not a word of protest, beside the pout on him and the rebellious little elbow banging once against Silas’ chest, he did go quiet as told.

Silas, however, was more than impressed by his blind obedience to the young woman, frightened even.

Although his experience with wolf folk was not extensive, the vampire knew enough to realize that a wolf child kicking and screaming to see soone in particular could only an one thing.

The concept was not new to him by any ans. Silas was well aware that Cynric had planned to make Arabella a mate and consequently a mother to his children, but after he’d let go of her so easily, sothing did not sit well with him.

Ada’s words about Arabella being marked through a different an than a bite hung and hovered over his head.

Why else would the kid chastise her for not coming back to their den?
