Nightti ca, inviting the chilling winds to which Arabella’s fragile fra shivered along. And even though Silas enjoyed having her press her body further against his, he still opted to cut their outing while the young woman hadn’t yet caught a cold.

Not that he wouldn’t have been able to cure it, but he much rather for her to skip that pain altogether.

On their way up the stairs leading to the first floor, Allegra intercepted them in order to pass a ssage from Lady Persephone.

After curtsying before Silas, she addressed Arabella, "The Lady would like a word with you, Arabella. Please follow ,"

As the vampiress turned around, Silas’ voice rose, sharp and cold again, "Is this matter urgent?"

"It seems to be, Master,"

Arabella did not linger, she too curtsied before him and reassured him, "Allegra will accompany back to my room afterwards. Thank you for everything, Master,"

Eventually and despite his reluctance, Silas relented and left Arabella in Allegra’s care.

"You seem to be doing a lot better today," the vampiress smiled.

"Yes, it is thanks to Master Silas’ kindness," she uttered sheepishly.

"He can be very kind," Allegra kept quiet for a very short mont before adding, "When he wants to be,"

That last part sounded oddly ominous, as though it harbored much more than the vampire let on. A heavier side only Allegra knew of.

Speaking of her, Arabella had noted that unlike Katherine, Allegra was a lot clumsier with her words or phrasing.

Many tis over, she’d caused the young woman’s pulse to rise for all the wrong reasons.

She chalked it up to her being a young vampire as it was explained to her explained that their kind, around a similar age tended to be careless and often callous in nature.

"How is Katherine doing by the way? Master Silas allowed to see her but back then, she was sleeping," Arabella strived to put so distance between herself and the thoughts surrounding Allegra in that mont.

"She is back up on her feet, but the doctor advised her to take things one step at a ti," the vampiress’ tone sort of dimd.

"What caused her episode if I may ask?"

"You may ask, but I am afraid I lack the answer you seek," Allegra sighed, "They haven’t been able to properly diagnose her case," she shook her head.

Before Arabella managed to voice her next concern however, the two of them stepped into the lounge room where Lady Persephone sat with much grace as per her usual.

Both curtsied, but only Allegra spoke, "I’ve summoned Arabella, my Lady,"

"Thank you, my dear Allegra," without ever raising her gaze from the teacup in her hand, Lady Persephone had answered, "You may take your leave,"

Once Allegra exited the room, Persephone turned to the young woman who stood still, waiting for her next orders, "Take a seat, girl," upon noting the chair Arabella had picked wasn’t exactly next to hers, she imdiately added, "Near ,"

The void like beads on the Lady studied every inch on Arabella and kept at it even after the young woman had settled her behind on that cushy chair.

"You need to drink more water, dear" Persephone extended an open hand which Arabella reached for and took it once the hint had sunk in, "You will also need to quit it with the constant bathing, even a substance as harmless as water can turn its back on you if you overstay your welco in it," she pushed the sleeve covering her wrist a little upwards.

Mute and eying the floor beneath them, the young woman nodded, "Yes, my Lady,"

"Although, I am glad to notice you’ve recovered so of your colors,"

"That is all thanks to your kindness and patience with , my Lady," she muttered.

"I hear you’ve spent the day in Silas’ company," she took yet another sip of her tea, ignoring Arabella’s recent words, "You know, despite the distance that has crept between us over the centuries, I’ve raised him myself. No middle woman, no caregiver," she slowly shook her head while staring at nothing in particular, "He is not as scary as he seems and he is most certainly far from being cruel even though sotis, his words and actions can co across as such,"

Far from grasping the reasons that pushed the Lady to broach that topic, Arabella did, nonetheless, quietly gape back at her gracious hostess in the hopes of grinding her words into a digestible form.

"He says what he ans and ans what he says," a little chuckle escaped her, "I realize that this is exactly how I’d describe most n," she sighed loudly, "Bless them for they often assu simple and direct words will do with us, but we both know," the Lady pointed between herself and Arabella, "It isn’t the case. We just can’t help but always think that there is a hidden aning behind everything they say which is true sotis, but very rarely,"

Arabella was completely out of her depth there as the only man that remained consistent throughout her life was her father and although he never minced his words, Reuben also almost never said what he truly ant.

One always had to dig deeper to find the true heart of his sches...

Her brother Arthus was kind, but due to the pressure placed upon his shoulders from such a young age, he shut himself off to everyone around until his ultimate desertion.

"I hear he gave you a good scare when asking about Edgar," Persephone’s voice wrenched her out of those mory crevices before they could swallow her.

Her heart skipped a beat while her eyes snapped to et the Lady’s.

"No harm will co to Edgar," she continued, "That is a promise, but while we’re at it, I might as well ask; do you harbor any romantic feelings for Edgar?"

Without any hesitation, Arabella started shaking her head furiously, "No! Not at all," she squeaked.

As much as Arabella wished to clue the Lady on who Edgar’s heart beat for, in the end, she still deed it wasn’t her place to lift the lid on it. Besides, with the Lady’s level of perception, the young woman doubted she wasn’t aware of the strong admiration the gardener carried for her.
