This was one of the scouts that Nightshade had killed earlier, and Zaroth decided to keep the corpses hidden in her shadow — they might still co in handy.

What he did not expect was to see one of them standing on thier own feet.

The woman, barely twenty years old, her pink hair styled into a bump, appeared surprisingly normal—considering she had been dead just monts ago. The only thing that seed off was her black pupils. Zaroth couldn't be certain, but he had a feeling that the color of her pupils had changed after everything that had just happened.

Not sure how to react he spoke towards Midnight making sure to keep his gaze on the resurrected girl. "Um… Midnight, what is that?"

Midnight stayed silent for a mont before answering."You know demons like have all kinds of abilities, right? Well, because my childhood wasn't exactly normal, I lack knowledge about what powers we're truly capable of. After my evolution, I discovered I gained a few new abilities. When I saw the girl's corpse, I felt a surge of crimson energy... and sohow, it just felt right to approach her. From the looks of it, I've managed to turn her," she finished calmly.

The girl that had just been resurrected looked around the room as if wondering what had just happened. "Where am I?" she asked until she saw sothing, a figure in white robes. Instantly she made the connection that this was the ghost that had slaughtered her and her entire squad.

Her body shivered in fear as she took a few steps back, "STAY AWAY!" she shouted in panic, unluckily for her she wasn't looking at her feet and tripped on one of the corpses and fell to the ground.

"WHERE AM I? WHAT DID YOU DO TO ?!" she scread in fear.

But suddenly, her fear vanished, replaced by an overwhelming pain radiating from her stomach. Instinctively, she pressed her hand against the aching spot.

"What… is happening to ?" she whimpered as all her senses seed to get overwheld by the pain.

Her gaze fell on one of the corpses of her comrades.

Her black pupils seed to get even darker as she realized that what she was feeling wasn't pain—it was hunger.

Losing all control, she lunged at the nearest person, her jaw widening before she snapped it shut on his face.

Crunch.

A sickening cracking sound echoed through the room as she began to devour the corpse before her like it was the only thing in her mind.

Zaroth watched the scene before him in amazent, "Is she a zombie?" he couldn't help but mutter.

"No," Midnight replied imdiately. "Judging by her black eyes and that insatiable hunger, she's a Wight — another type of demon, usually under vampire command," she explained.

'Vampires can turn people into demons? Does that an she now has a minion? How many can she control? Could she build an entire army?' Countless questions flooded his mind.

He realized just how little he truly knew about demons and vampires — but one thing was certain, He was glad he had befriended Midnight.

If she really could build an army, she would beco an invaluable companion.

"Well, we can talk later. We can't have my minion feed without her master, right?" Midnight said, approaching another corpse and sinking her fangs into it.

Zaroth was still in a gaze watching one corpse being devoured while another was getting paler from having his blood drunk from. The scene was like out of a horror fairytale as more and more blood was coming to flood the whole room.

Yet strangely, he felt more fascinated than afraid.

Not wishing to disturb the girls while they were having their own feast, he sat on the nearby bed and closed his eyes.

About five minutes later, two of the corpses were mostly gone as only intestines remained as well as their armor, while the other two looked as pale as snow, their skin tight around their bones having been sucked dry from their own blood.

The girls had taken their fill, and now, in control of her actions, the girl with pink hair stared at her trembling hands, tears streaming down her face.

"What am I?" she whispered in horror and disbelief. She not only ate two of the corpses of her ex-comrades but made even more horrifying discovery.

Putting a hand over her heart, she knew instantly that it wasn't beating. She should be dead, yet she wasn't.

"I'm Midnight. What's your na?" Midnight's gentle voice broke through her spiraling thoughts. The girl lifted her head slowly to et Midnight's eyes.

"Nyra." she replied shyly.

Clapping her hands together Midnight grinned, "Well, Nyra, I'm sure you're confused, so let explain."

"You were dead — but you were lucky. I found your body and resurrected it. We are both demons now. I am a Vampire. You are a Wight. In a way, I am your master — so we'll need to get used to each other."

Zaroth noted that by the way Midnight was speaking she was proud of herself for making a Wight, it must have been sothing that she had wanted to do for a long ti but had been unable to until now.

Nyra, still in shock, sank into a nearby chair. As Midnight explained more details about Wights, Zaroth added his part — how he and his beasts had wiped out her entire squad. According to Midnight, Nyra was now bound to her. She wouldn't be able to go against Midnight or those she deed important.

About an hour later Nyra seed to calm down. "So now I am with you and we are going against the Crimson Sun Empire?" she asked hesitantly.

"Well, I am," Zaroth pointed out. "If your master decides to help , that's another story."

Nyra stared at her hands, slowly clenching them into fists. "So, what you're saying is that I'm a Wight—an undead creature that heals instantly from any injury, but the catch is that I can only eat human flesh to heal?" She directed the question to Midnight.

"More or less, but that's not all. Your strength should be far greater than before. I doubt any ordinary person could match you now. And lastly, keep in mind, you're no longer human, but undead. Any blessing you once had is most likely gone. The gods don't take kindly to our kind, after all."

It was tough to believe but Nyra was able to feel it, her body felt a lot stronger than before like she would be able to crush boulders with her palms alone.

"Now, how do you feel about all of this?" Midnight asked. While Nyra was under her control, it would be far better if she chose to serve her willingly, rather than out of force.

Nyra fell silent for a few seconds. She had joined the army hoping to grow stronger, but eventually, she hit a plateau. She had thought there was no way for her to progress. But now, she had beco sothing far stronger than before—several tis over.

Nyra dropped to one knee, bowing with deep respect. "From this mont forward, I pledge to serve you with my life."
