Chapter 117: Arrogance (1)
The beasts ran out. Chanyul was keeping the pace at the front, but their speed was still too fast for any normal human to even see clearly.
“Whoaaaaaa!”
So of them shouted in excitent for the raid. Chanyul did not stop them and now almost every man in the ranks was shouting while running. It was like a biker gang’s chant as they shouted in unison. They also were wearing black leather jackets and pants, making the resemblance even stronger.
But Kim Chanyul did not join them in their excitent.
“...”
He was excited for sure, but he still needed to stay cool and careful. He needed to keep his wits as the leader.
‘Actually... it’s probably their first battle.’
His fifty n were mostly only One Circles about five months ago. They were not even Chanyul’s own n to begin with. They were just workers who were sent to help with the move. The elite warriors he had were all summoned by Ilgyu right before he went to the plains to fight Dohyuk.
But it was better. Their number was actually 150, not 50. When he decided that it was a good chance to have his own forces, he declared to them,
‘Kill each other.’
‘I will give any survivor the right to beco strong.’
And he had fifty One Circles with potential. With them, he road the lands of the south in search of any remaining resources that Ilgyu had not yet touched, and the result was splendid.
They did lack in terms of talents or starting points, but since they started from the bottom of the ladder, their loyalty toward Chanyul and eagerness to work together exceeded that of other warriors.
And now, their stats were very decent.
‘The lowest one was averaging about 350.’
That was about the power of a Three Circle five months ago. Eve the Circle did not have fifty Three Circles, and Chanyul himself...
-Strength: 1020( 24)(A)
-Stamina: 1050( 24)(A)
-Agility: 1250( 45)(A)
-Magic: 672( 109)(B)
-Endurance: 194( 24)(D)
-Charisma: 121( 51)(D)
Three A ranked stats. Even Ilgyu, except for his Strength which he focused on, was barely in the 1000 range for everything else. His Agility was 250 past 1000. The stats required more coins as the ranks went up and thus were harder to upgrade. The coins that granted him 250 more Agility points was enough to strength soone with no coin investnts in stats.
‘I wanted more but...’
Chanyul thought that if he hadn’t shared his coins with his n, he would be much stronger. But he was thinking of the bigger picture, and he wasn’t thinking of becoming a tyrant.
‘I’m not soone who can stay at the top.’
It was an obvious truth. Chanyul had grown strong enough to even handle the Tyrant in five months, but that was only considering the fact that the Tyrant would still be at the sa level as he was five months ago. If he grew within those months, Chanyul still wouldn’t be a match for him.
There were other strong n other than Jung Ilgyu in this world.
In the previous life, there were ones like the Swordmaster, Cactus Bill, and others who equaled or were stronger than Jung Ilgyu. It was obvious that those people had grown much stronger in the past five months. Chanyul was stronger than his group, but he wasn’t foolish to overestimate himself.
But-
‘I can’t control the world, but maybe I can control this region.’
He still had ambition. He was thinking of becoming a solid ruler of the region after invading that city. He then would enjoy lavish life with an abundance of food, slaves, and anything else he might want. He would also seek to beco strong continuously. However, he planned to only fight those that he could defeat. If he faced a strong man who could overpower him, he was planning to surrender and offer his services.
As he was thinking, they were now at the plains. The ground felt different, indicating prosperous land. But there was going to be blood, and soon it was going to be theirs.
“Huh?”
Chanyul narrowed his eyes. From their position, the left side of the city they were watching was covered by a ‘do’. Yet from the back of the do, there were people running toward them.
Was it about 100? Or 200?
“Were they hiding behind the do? Waiting for us?”
It seed they were well-trained as they quickly arranged a formation facing Chanyul’s direction.
“...Funny, “Chanyul scoffed. He could see everything from the distance. Like Dohyuk could sense any beast right away, Chanyul also knew the sll of uncorrupt, weak n.
“Those are all slaves.”
Sothing still bothered him. It seed they knew that he and his n were coming. With that kind of reaction, it was certain that they were prepared in so way.
Slowly, Chanyul scanned the formation, and then he raised his right arm to point outward.
“Go.”
With the word as the signal, fifty of his n began running toward the two hundred. Chanyul then turned back right away. His opponent was already there.
“Wow, amazing.”
Astonishnt ca to him from the direction he was looking at, which was behind the periter of the plains, at the back of the ash piles.
“You have eyes on your back?”
“I know the sll of rats.”
With a smile, Chanyul answered Yoo Dohyuk who walked out of the pile.
“If you knew I was here, you could’ve attacked with your n.”
“I call that a waste.”
He wasn’t wrong about that. There was a way to fight in a group in this world. It was the thod that Chanyul followed, and he first sent his n in to fight. When the leader of a group of equal strength was with the leader of the opposite group, to do such a thing, it was to have those n fight against the other group’s n while the leader takes on the enemy leader in a one-on-one battle.
It was easier in this case if Chanyul’s n were stronger to easily overpower them and return to aid their leader.
“Don’t worry. Even if they win, they will not join my fight,” Chanyul said as he brought up a small block from his pocket.
When thrown between the user and soone else, it showed the difference in power. The higher the number, the higher the stats for the one who threw the die. Chanyul threw it in front of him and the die rolled. He focused on the die for the short amount of ti it rolled. There was still a slight chance that Dohyuk might be stronger than he originally thought.
At last, it was as he had guessed.
“...!”
