Chapter Two Hundred and Ninety-Two

Brother Lin, whose real na is Lin Xiao, inherited his family’s business right after graduating from high school; he runs bars and supermarkets.

In his twenties, he drove a rcedes and wore a Rolex.

An absolute success story.

He reveled in the halo of prestige that surrounded him, enjoying the flattery he received everywhere he went, especially at events like school reunions and weddings, to which he always eagerly attended.

"Brother Lin, please sit here."

"Brother Lin, my last na is Lin too; maybe we’re relatives. Let’s have a good chat."

A group of people was in disarray, all vying to sit next to Lin Xiao to establish a connection. Even Hong Xiaofei, the groom, was being neglected.

"Damn, what’s so great about him?" Chang Hao snorted disdainfully, muttering under his breath.

He was a drifter, thinking he was influential in society, with several people under him, he believed he’d be popular among his classmates and perhaps even use the gathering to hook up with a few female classmates, only to find that no one paid him any attention.

"Alright, alright, today is Xu Lu’s wedding. Why are you all crowding around ?" Lin Xiao said, feigning indifference.

Inwardly, he felt ecstatic.

Oops!

His gaze suddenly fell on Xu Le, his eyes revealing a hint of astonishnt at the sight of such a beautiful little lady. There were a few attractive girls among his classmates, but none could compare to the enchanting allure of the "Demon Fairy" Xu Le.

"Xu Lu, who is this beauty?" Lin Xiao approached.

"She’s my cousin, Xu Le. She’s my bridesmaid," Xu Lu said, though she disapproved of Lin Xiao’s pretentious air. Nonetheless, as a classmate, she made the introduction.

"Hello, Xu Le, right? Let’s get to know each other and beco friends," Lin Xiao said as he extended his hand towards Xu Le, flashing his shiny Rolex, trying to shake hands with her.

Though young, Xu Le was cunning.

She thought to herself, you’re such an ugly freak; I won’t let you touch .

With her arm around Long Xiaoshan’s arm, she cooed sweetly, "Big Brother, you’ll take out to have fun later, won’t you?"

Her sweet, lazy voice lted everyone’s heart.

Even Long Xiaoshan felt a surge of alarm, thinking, this little demon, so young and already knows how to seduce n.

Watching the "Demon Fairy" Xu Le flirting with Long Xiaoshan’s hand, the surrounding male classmates were filled with envy, and Lin Xiao was even more seething with jealousy. So what if this guy was tall and handso? Was good looks useful for anything? Unable to eat it, he stretched his hand out with a feigned smile, saying, "And this brother is?"

"Long Xiaoshan," he reached out his hand, "a classmate of Xiaofei’s."

Just as their hands were about to et, Lin Xiao suddenly withdrew his, casually adjusting his sleeve, leaving Long Xiaoshan grasping at air, to so snickers around them. This was a clear snub to Long Xiaoshan.

Long Xiaoshan smiled, saying nothing, calmly retracting his hand.

Hong Xiaofei frowned, and Xu Lu glared angrily at Lin Xiao; Long Xiaoshan was their benefactor, and Lin Xiao had just disrespected him.

"Xu Le, I own the Majestic Bar in Niu Y County. Co over with your friends whenever you have ti. Brother Lin will give you a Supre VIP card; all your expenses at my place will be on the house. How does that sound?" Lin Xiao offered enthusiastically.

So female classmates showed looks of envy, jealousy, and resentnt. Drinks at the bar were expensive; a bottle of beer cost twenty to thirty yuan. Having a free VIP card would be very impressive to show off, but then again, Xu Le looked just like a "Demon Fairy."

"No, thank you. I don’t need it," Xu Le declined, shaking her head.

Xu Le’s blunt rejection left Lin Xiao sowhat taken aback. Girls her age should love going to bars, and a free VIP card worth thousands of yuan should have made her look at him with admiration and enthusiasm. She might have even agreed to go out with him that evening, and then, perhaps, they might end up having a fling.

Seeing Xu Le continuing to hold onto Long Xiaoshan’s hand, chatting with him in her sweet voice.

Lin Xiao’s face darkened for a mont before he asked, "Brother Long, where do you work?"

Long Xiaoshan glanced at him and said casually, "I’m farming back ho."

"Farming?" Lin Xiao curled his lip in disdain.

"Actually, my bar is short-staffed. You could co work for —ten thousand a month plus commission, how about that?"

"What?"

A murmur of surprise rippled through the crowd. Ten thousand a month plus commission? In Niu Y County, that was definitely a top salary.

"Brother Lin, why don’t you let go, then? I can do anything."

"Yeah, Brother Lin, you just say the word, and I’ll quit my job right away."

A bunch of the male classmates started calling out enviously.

"Haha, you guys! You wouldn’t be suitable," Lin Xiao said with a laugh, waving his hand.

"How co we’re not suitable? He’s just a farr and he’s okay, and our relationship is so solid. We’re even classmates."

"My bar needs male public relations staff. They have to be over one ter eighty and good-looking, plus they need to be strong. No, they need to have strong waists. You think you’re up for that?" Lin Xiao said mockingly.

"Well, I guess I’m really not. But this Long fellow should be up to it, working in the fields like that, he must be very strong." The classmate quickly added.

The crowd caught on and burst into laughter.

Lin Xiao was mocking Long Xiaoshan—male public relations, over one ter eighty, handso, strong... wasn’t he just recruiting gigolos?

Hong Xiaofei couldn’t hold back any longer and stood up, "Is this fun for you?"

Xu Lu was also getting annoyed, "Lin Xiao, if you’re going to talk like that again, I’ll have to ask you to leave."

"Just kidding, just kidding," Lin Xiao said with a casual smile. "Co on, old classmates, don’t be so serious."

Seeing Lin Xiao react this way, Hong Xiaofei and Xu Lu felt it wasn’t right to make a scene, especially since today was their wedding day. Nobody wanted any unpleasantness, and Hong Xiaofei shot Long Xiaoshan an apologetic look.

Long Xiaoshan waved it off.

"We’ve still got so ti before the banquet starts. Let’s play cards," Lin Xiao suddenly called out.

"Sure, let’s play," the classmates responded.

Soon, soone brought several decks of poker from the counter.

A group of young people gathered around the table.

Lin Xiao said, "Long Xiaoshan, co play a few hands."

Long Xiaoshan replied, "I don’t know how to play cards, better not."

"Co on, what are you afraid of? Just play for fun, small stakes," Lin Xiao urged Long Xiaoshan.

Many people could see that Lin Xiao was intent on challenging Long Xiaoshan today. But since Lin Xiao was a big boss with wealth in the millions, if he wanted to ss with Long Xiaoshan, plenty of classmates, eager to curry favor, started egging Long Xiaoshan on.

"Fine, let’s play then," Long Xiaoshan said. "But I really don’t know how, soone teach first."

"Big Brother Xiaoshan, I know how," Xu Le imdiately said.

"All right, let’s do this."

Everyone sat down around the card table—Lin Xiao, Li Zhijun, Long Xiaoshan, and another classmate of Xu Lu’s. Xu Le stood behind Long Xiaoshan, her hands on his shoulders, her head leaning close to his ear, helping him look at his hand, whispering in his ear, her warmth clearly visible. This made Lin Xiao, sitting across from them, even more upset.

Just wait, I’ll play you to death, you damn farr.
