"Ethan? you back early?" his mother asked, surprised.

"Yeah," he smiled." I bought fried chicken for you."

He raised the fried chicken box like a trophy.

His mom looked at the box," You brought what?" her voice sounded a little angry, but she couldn’t hide her little smile.

Before he could answer, his father ca out of the kitchen," You bought food from outside? Are you crazy? This must have cost a lot."

Ethan looked at him while he sounded angry, his focus on the box said otherwise.

"Let’s eat together."

He stepped into his new ho.

His mother took the bags and put them on the table.

They sat together around a small table. Ethan opened the box and passed out the food.

His mom finally took a bite," It’s tasty."

Ethan just smiled at her.

They both preferred ho made food and it’s been a while they ate so store bought food.

"How’s school?" his father asked.

"It’s going well. I’m enjoying it."

I finally now understood why they say a mother’s warmth could make everything better. I’m sorry father and also sorry to all the father’s in this world, but mothers are the greatest.
