Chapter 94: Ham
A few minutes ago.
Inside an apartnt, Gwen Stacy could be seen wearing her Spider-Woman outfit while talking to what seed to be…a pig dressed like Spider-Man.
Right, this was indeed Spider-Ham that Peter had seen earlier.
Although the scene looked quite funny, both of their expressions were grim.
There was also a hologram in between the two displaying a man in a futuristic blue and red suit.
It was Miguel O’Hara. The Spider-Man of 2099.
At that mont, Miguel looked over to Gwen and asked.
“Gwen, vacation ti’s over. Have you finished scouting the new spider kid?”
Gwen sighed.
“He’s not ready. He’s still…too new to this. We need to give him more ti.”
“There’s no ti. He’ll just have to adapt quickly He’s supposed to be ‘The Prodigy’ isn’t he? The Inheritors are on the move again. If you don’t bring him in now, he…we are all dood!”
Miguel gritted his teeth as he recalled a ti in the past.
It wasn’t the first ti the Inheritors had attacked them and they had lost quite a bit Spider-n before.
This ti…who knows how things will end?
Gwen hesitated for a mont.
“But…this world seems…different….I don’t think the Inheritors will dare to co here. If they did co…”
“What do you an? You all look like monkeys here too.”
Spider-Ham interjected.
Gwen rolled her eyes.
“I an, there’s soone really powerful here. What if…”
Just as she was about to continue, her phone rang.
Looking at the caller, she was a bit surprised as she was just thinking about him.
It was none other than Benjamin Freed.
“Give a sec.”
Gwen turned around and answered the call. When Spider-Ham was about to complain, she quickly shot a web to his mouth to cover it up.
Miguel was also about to speak but didn’t continue when he saw this.
Although he was just a hologram, she might cut the connection to shut him up too.
After glaring at them for a bit, she answered.
“Capt.? What’s up? Is there sothing happening? It’s rare for you to call like this.”
On the other side, Benjamin saw the scene around Gwen the mont she ntioned him.
Although Gwen wasn’t in any ergency or danger, Benjamin decided to use his ability to check in on her and sure enough, it was as he had thought.
Spider-Ham was there. Not to ntion, there was also a hologram of Spider-Man 2099.
“Do you know where FEAST is?”
“Uhh, that’s the new charity group that popped up right? I think I know where it is.”
“Co here. And bring the pig and the one from 2099 with you.”
“Sure…wait, what? How did you…”
“I told you that if your problem becos this world’s problem, I’ll have to intervene. And since those two are here, there must be sothing happening.”
“...”
Gwen looked at Miguel for a bit before sighing.
“Fine. We’ll be there.”
After ending the call, Miguel asked.
“Capt.? Is that Captain Arica of this world? Or maybe Captain Marvel?”
Gwen shook her head.
“Neither. He’s soone much more powerful.”
“Then is it the Captain Universe of this world?”
Gwen shook her head again.
“No. I…think he’s still more powerful than that.”
To this, Spider-Ham snorted.
“Hah! What can possibly be more powerful than the universe!?”
“The Infinity Stone?”
“...”
Miguel frowned.
“You’re saying this Captain has one?”
“I think so? I think he used a few when we were dealing with Thanos before.”
Gwen shrugged.
“You’ve faced Thanos!?”
“Well, we were more on the sidelines really. I think he just took us there to get so experience dealing with aliens. He could’ve dealt the whole army alone.”
Gwen couldn’t help but recall that one-sided trouncing Benjamin did when he fought against Thanos.
It wasn’t even a battle. It was just a massacre.
If they had him on their side against the Inheritors… wouldn’t their problem be solved?
Still, Miguel shook his head.
“No matter if he has an Infinity Stone or not. It’s useless in another universe. In the end, he’s just like Captain Universe. Only powerful in his own universe.”
Gwen pouted, still unconvinced.
I’m pretty sure he’s not relying on only the Infinity Stones.
“Anyway, he wants to et us. Let’s at least hear him out. This concerns his world too.”
Gwen suggested.
“Fine. Then we’re taking the spider kid.”
A few minutes later.
Gwen, Spider-Ham, Miguel, Peter, Leah, and Benjamin sat around a table in one of the rooms inside FEAST.
Peter was looking at the pig dressed like him and the hologram that looked like he was wearing a futuristic version of his suit.
“Did I miss sothing or is dressing up as a thing now? Actually, what the ham am I looking at!?”
“Hey! Just cause I’m a pig, doesn’t an you can call ham!”
“Spider-Pig!”
Leah’s eyes widened in shock.
“It’s Spider-Ham. Get it straight!”
“...”
You just said we can’t call you ham though!?
Peter wanted to retort but didn’t know where to start.
Actually, how is a pig even talking!?
“Ah! You were just thinking ‘how is a hamso pig like talking’, am I right?”
“Uhh, ham-?”
“Well in my perspective, how are you hairless monkeys even alive!?”
“...”
“Ignore him. We tried correcting him nurous tis before. It doesn’t work.”
Miguel sighed.
Peter looked at him with a confused expression.
“And you are…? So kind of future ?”
“No. I’m not a Peter Parker. I’m another Spider-Man in another universe that’s set in the future.”
“Your na’s Peter Parker, Spider-Man?”
Leah looked at Spider-Man in surprise.
“...”
Peter facepald.
“Oh, you’re the type of Peter that keeps his identity a secret. My bad.”
He didn’t look like he was reflecting on it though.
Miguel turned to Leah.
“Why is she even here?”
“Well, I only called Spider-Man but since she’s already here, it doesn’t matter.”
Benjamin shrugged.
“Anyway. Let introduce myself to the two visitors from another universe. My na’s Benjamin Freed. I work for the Enhanced Police Division of this world and am in charge of guarding against extranormal threats.”
“I don’t care what division you are. This is a spider problem. It’s best you do not involve yourself.”
“Save the stubbornness. The mont you guys tried to involve our world’s Spider-Man, you made it my problem as well. Now either you tell what’s going on or I just read your mind without your permission.”
“...I’m a hologram. How can you read my mind?”
Benjamin sighed.
He waved his hand and took a device from Spider-Ham.
“Ah! Hey!”
Benjamin pointed at him and he paused in space.
Ignoring the frozen pig, Benjamin pressed on the device a few tis and a portal opened up.
He then waved his hand again and suddenly, Miguel’s hologram disappeared.
Soon after, a figure ca flying out of the portal and landed on the ground in front of them.
“Now you’re not a hologram anymore. Are you interested in sharing now?”
“...”
Miguel looked to be in a daze, still not understanding what had happened.
After a while, he finally snapped out of it.
“You! H-how-!? Telekinesis shouldn’t work through a multiverse portal!”
“I just did it. You saw do it.”
Benjamin shrugged.
Gwen sighed and placed her hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t bother. It’s useless to use common sense on this guy.”
Peter also added.
“Is him pulling you through a portal really more unbelievable than a talking pig?”
“Hey! I’m still here you know!? Can you let move already!?”
Spider-Ham protested.
“Oh, I forgot about you.”
Benjamin chuckled and let Spider-Ham go.
Miguel looked at the talking pig and couldn’t help but agree with Peter.
Spider-Ham saw Miguel looking at him and asked.
“What? Am I too hamso? I’m telling you, I’m a straight pig!”
