The room settled into a quiet rhythm after the others left.
Natasha sat propped up against the pillows, the baby resting against her chest as her fingers moved absentmindedly over his tiny back. Tony leaned against the wall nearby with his arms folded, watching both of them with a calm that rarely showed up in his life. Yelena had taken the chair by the bed, one leg tucked under her, still carrying so of the leftover energy from everything that had happened.
"So," Yelena said, tilting her head as she looked at the baby, "he screams like Tony, has attitude like sis, and will probably break rules like both of you. Congratulations. You are not going to get a good night's sleep for a couple of years."
Tony chuckled. "As long as he does that with style."
Natasha smiled faintly. "We will see about that."
Yelena leaned forward slightly, her voice softening as she studied the baby's face. "He is… small," she said, almost as if she were surprised.
Tony glanced at her. "That tends to be the starting size for humans. They grow out of it before you know it."
She ignored him completely, her gaze fixed on the baby as sothing quieter settled into her expression. 'Maybe, I should have a baby too.'
Before the mont could stretch further, the door slid open.
All three of them looked up at the sa ti.
lina stepped inside first, calm as always, though there was sothing different in her expression. Sothing softer that did not appear often. She moved slightly to the side, and the man behind her ca into view.
For a second, no one spoke.
Yelena froze in her chair.
Natasha's breath caught, her eyes locking onto him as if she were not entirely sure he was real.
The man stood there, larger than life even in a simple suit that clearly did not belong to him. His beard was thicker, his face older, but his eyes were the sa. And right now, those eyes were full.
"Daddy," Yelena said, already on her feet before the word had fully left her mouth.
Alexei Andreovitch Shostakov did not move right away. His lips parted as if he were trying to speak, but nothing ca out at first. His chest rose sharply, and when he finally managed it, his voice cracked under the weight of it.
"My little berries," he said, the words breaking just enough to show how much he ant them.
Yelena did not slow down.
She crossed the room in seconds and crashed into him, her arms wrapping tightly around his torso as if she were making up for lost years in a single motion. Alexei staggered half a step from the impact, then held on just as tightly, his arms closing around her as if letting go was no longer an option.
"You idiot," Yelena muttered into his shoulder, her voice muffled but unsteady. "You disappeared. You just vanished. Why did you not co ho?"
Alexei let out a rough breath, one hand rising to the back of her head to hold her there. "I know," he said quietly. "I know, little one. I am here now."
Yelena pulled back just enough to look at him, her hands still gripping his jacket as if she did not trust him to stay unless she held on. Her eyes were wet, but a small, stubborn smile pushed through anyway.
"You look terrible," she said, quickly wiping at her face.
Alexei let out sothing close to a laugh, though it did not quite make it all the way. "This is a good suit," he replied, glancing down at himself before looking back at her. "Very expensive, I am told."
"Liar," Yelena shot back, shaking her head.
Behind them, Natasha watched the two of them for a mont longer. Sothing soft and complicated passed through her expression before she shifted carefully, making sure the baby stayed secure. Tony noticed imdiately and stepped closer, adjusting the barrier just enough to allow Alexei to approach without triggering anything.
Alexei's attention shifted then, finally settling on Natasha.
Everything else seed to fall away.
"Natasha," he said, more quietly now, as if he were unsure how close he was allowed to get.
Natasha t his gaze, her eyes steady but full. "You are late," she said, her voice calm but carrying more than the words alone.
Alexei nodded once, accepting that without argunt. "I know," he replied. "I had to find my way back."
A pause followed, not empty but heavy with everything that had gone unsaid over the years.
Then Natasha gave a small nod toward the bed.
"Co here," she said.
Alexei stepped forward slowly, as if he were approaching sothing both fragile and deeply important. He stopped at the edge of the bed, his gaze dropping to the small bundle in her arms.
For a mont, the unshakable Red Guardian looked completely out of his depth.
"This is…" he began, then stopped as his throat tightened again.
Natasha adjusted slightly, angling the baby so he could see better. "Your grandson," she said softly.
Alexei stared, completely still.
He looked up at Tony, then back at the baby.
"All this ti," he murmured, almost to himself. "And now… this."
His hand lifted slowly, hesitating for the first ti in his life before he gently touched the baby's blanket. The movent was careful, deliberate, like he understood exactly how much this mont mattered.
Yelena moved closer again, standing beside him now.
"Don't cry," she said with a teasing grin.
Alexei let out a breath that turned into a quiet laugh, shaking his head. "I am not crying," he said, even as his eyes betrayed him.
Tony crossed his arms, watching the scene with a small, thoughtful smile. "You are absolutely crying," he said.
lina also walked closer to the bed and patted Natasha's head. She looked at Alexei and said, "Yeah, he has the emotion of a marshmallow."
Alexei didn't argue this ti.
Natasha leaned back slightly, her gaze moving between them all, sothing warm settling into her expression. 'I'm so happy. Everyone is here. Dad and Mama...' She looked up at Tony, who gave her a little nod.
For the first ti in a long ti, the past didn't feel like sothing chasing them.
It felt like sothing that had finally caught up in the best way possible.

[Two Days Later] [Stark Mansion]
Maria Stark had taken full control of the situation without announcing it, which sohow made it even more absolute. Let's just say, no one can cross her when it cos to the safety and health of her grandchild and daughter-in-law.
Natasha sat comfortably on the large couch near the window, wrapped in a light blanket with the baby resting in her arms.
Maria adjusted the baby's position slightly, then looked at Natasha.
"You're holding him too stiff," she said. "Relax your shoulders a bit."
Natasha exhaled slowly and shifted her posture just enough.
"Like this?" she asked.
Maria nodded once. "Better. You don't need to be on guard here. Just take it easy for once."
Natasha allowed herself a small smile at that.
Across the room, Yelena sat sprawled across an armchair, watching the whole thing with open fascination. She had been unusually quiet for almost ten minutes, which was starting to concern everyone.
Alexei noticed it first.
"This is suspicious," he said, narrowing his eyes at her. "You are thinking too much. I do not trust this."
Yelena didn't even look at him. "I am learning," she replied calmly. "Apparently, babies require patience and not explosives."
Alexei blinked. "This is a terrible lesson."
lina, seated beside him with a cup of tea, said, "It's progress," she said. "Let's not interrupt it."
Alexei leaned back with a sigh, though the corner of his mouth lifted slightly. His gaze drifted back toward Natasha and the baby, softening again in a way that still felt new on his face.
"I missed too much," he muttered quietly.
lina glanced at him this ti. "Then don't miss what's in front of you now."
He didn't answer, but he nodded once.
Howard was speaking quietly into a comm before shutting it off in the dining room. He walked over to Natasha and bent down a bit to see the baby. He touched his little fist. "Be a good boy while I'm out and take care of your mommy."
Everyone chuckled at his words.
He stood up and kissed Maria's cheek. "I have to go back to the office. But I'll be back before dinner."

[Stark Tower > Sa Ti]
Tony stood in front of a layered holographic display, eyes moving rapidly as data stread past him in controlled sequences. Genetic structures, neural activity models, energy readings, predictive simulations. Everything was running at once, and he was tracking all of it.
At the center of the display was a detailed scan of his son.
Perfect vitals with no anomalies.
On paper, the baby was completely normal.
Tony leaned back slightly, arms folding as he studied the results again.
"Yeah," he muttered under his breath. "You're either a superhuman far beyond what my technology can detect, or you really are a normal human, which I don't buy for a second, kiddo."
