Chapter 658: Chapter 632: Doing the Opposite
I don’t know what happened, but it’s certainly not Gao Yi who is desperate right now.
But Gao Yi is definitely the most dangerous right now.
The reason is too simple; the FBI is almost openly defying orders, standing unreservedly against the President. No matter why they’re doing this, knowing they’ve reached this point ans there’s no turning back.
The FBI has to undergo a major overhaul unless they manage to replace the President.
A gentleman does not stand under a perilous wall. Gao Yi stepped back a few steps, completely entering the lobby of the Compaq Building, at least not giving the distant sniper a chance to shoot.

Gao Yi answered the call, and he heard Panetta speaking in a slightly frantic tone: “Just now, the President was assassinated, a bullet hit his face.”
“What? Is the President alright?”
“He’s okay, specific injuries are still unknown, but the first order the President gave after moving to a secure location was to protect you.”
“Why? What’s the connection between the assassination attempt on the President and ?”
“Because the President now truly needs the Dark Web. You’re the best candidate to take control of it. Before, you were useful to the President, now, the President needs you.”
Finished speaking hastily, Panetta sighed and said, “The gunman has been killed, but the investigation results are no longer important. There’s no need to investigate; we already know who planned the assassination. The war has already started, and I don’t have ti to say more. I’ll notify you of any new developnts.”
“Wait, why did Joelson co with the Special Service Bureau, but he doesn’t intend to help leave?”

Joelson answered the phone.

“The Special Service Bureau is ordered to protect you, but I think…”
Joelson paused for a mont, then continued in a low voice, “It’s just a feeling. I don’t think the people from the Bureau are reliable. Listen, shortly, the Bureau’s people will co in and ask you to leave with them. Although this is the President’s order, I think you’d better not leave with them. I believe no one is reliable right now. Be careful until the situation becos clearer.”
Joelson doesn’t know what’s happening either, but he thinks Gao Yi shouldn’t leave with the Special Service Bureau’s people.
“I understand.”
Gao Yi hung up the phone, then said to Yuri, “Sothing just happened. The President was assassinated but is not seriously injured. He ordered the Bureau to protect , but it seems the Bureau is also unreliable. I really can’t make sense of this situation. What should we do?”
Yuri replied without hesitation, “Okay, it’s confird. Everything happening here has nothing to do with us, or rather, we just happened to get caught in the core power struggle of the United States. Gao Yi thought about it and said, “I understand, this is to go against the plan. Staying here is dangerous, but at least there’s enough sturdy cover.”
Yuri said faintly, “Wait ten minutes, and see if anyone cos to save you. Confirm whether the President wants to kill or protect you. From this mont on, forget about the allies and relationships you once had.”
