Chapter 588: Chapter 564: No Surprises

The first thing Ben noticed wasn’t the nuclear bomb or the drones, but the sudden, frenzied influx of massive speculative funds.

The Asian financial crisis didn’t actually deal a severe blow to Ben’s financial market. Wall Street’s financial predators mainly reaped Thailand, Indonesia, and South Korea. Ben suffered minimal losses during that financial crisis, far from reaching the level of structural damage.

But this ti is different.

Wall Street’s main targets were financial markets, where market turbulence caused social crises. This ti, however, it was reversed—Gao Yi and his team planned to execute an unprecedented attack to plunge Ben into chaos, which would then ripple back to impact the financial market.

But Ben was unaware of this. They were cautious and closely monitoring the speculative funds, but they absolutely couldn’t figure out the reason behind their frenzied influx in the short term.

Thus, Ben could only remain on high alert to guard against a sudden move from Wall Street.

It fell in line with the United States’ habits to harvest a wave every twenty years; the timing was just about right.

Ben was defending against the United States, so they wouldn’t suddenly decide to bolster their air defense systems on Mount Fuji.

Gao Yi really wanted to check how Xinfeng’s work was progressing, but he couldn’t go because he was fully exposed to San You Trading Company’s surveillance. This ant the Defense Ministry was also keeping a close eye on him. As a result, he minimized going out or moving around to avoid jeopardizing Xinfeng’s operations.

But things were different for Feng Biao and Li Jie.

On the ground lay ten green plastic drums—five filled with gasoline, while large sacks of sugar sat beside the empty ones.

Li Jie tapped one of the empty drums twice on the ground, listening to the hollow sound it produced. As he turned to Xinfeng, he remarked, “This drum is sturdy, but it’s not easy to break.”

“No worries. It doesn’t have to break. As long as the drone and the drum can be set ablaze together, that’ll suffice.”

Xinfeng dismissed the concern casually. He pulled out a knife to slit open a sack of sugar, then picked up a plastic drum and began pouring the sugar into it.

Feng Biao affixed small canisters to the filled plastic drums in a straightforward manner—firmly taping them with clear adhesive.

These were Aluminum Thermite Bombs, designed by Xinfeng and filled by Feng Biao.

As Feng Biao worked on this, he felt invigorated, as though fulfilling a historical mission.

Aluminum Thermite Bombs could burn through steel rails, let alone plastic drums. Li Jie’s task was simply different from Feng Biao’s, but standing in the makeshift assembly workshop and seeing Feng Biao’s contraptions, he imdiately understood.

“This will do. Have you tested the stability of the fuses?”

“Of course. I’ve tested them many tis and used them a few tis as well. No issues—I assure you. Trust , I’m a professional when it cos to arson. Even if all the fuses fail, I’ve got backup thods to ensure ignition success.”

Xinfeng exuded absolute confidence, though he couldn’t help but wonder aloud, “Honestly, you guys didn’t have to do this work.”

“You wouldn’t understand.”

“It’s sentintal.”

Li Jie and Feng Biao exchanged a knowing smile and felt even more energized to continue their tasks.

Although it was just grunt work, they joked that it’d surely warrant a dedicated page in the family ledger when they returned.

It wasn’t particularly busy—just so simple tasks. Between the three of them, they couldn’t even intentionally drag out the ti.

After completing the filling process, the drums were loaded onto drones. It was purely manual labor—nothing difficult, just exhausting.

The drones were quite large; with ten deployed, once ready for imdiate take-off, at least three large trucks were needed to release them straight from the vehicles.

The drones were heavy, and the idea of unloading them one by one from the trucks for launch was incredibly troubleso.

However, everything was fine. All they needed was for two drones to be stationed closer together on one of the trucks. During launch, they could be dragged out directly and released from the truck bed.

Of course, external help or even hiring drivers might work, but it was undoubtedly easier, safer, and more reassuring to rely on their own people. This plan couldn’t afford any mishaps.

That being said, Gao Yi’s end seed comparatively easy; he had nothing to worry about—all thanks to Xinfeng and the others being practically half-dead from exhaustion.

With preparations complete, the three rested briefly, ate a simple al, and then collapsed into sleep.

Their nap lasted until midnight when they were jolted awake by a call.

The phone rang, and Xinfeng opened his eyes. Picking up the call, he heard Gao Yi’s low voice: “It’s about ti. There’s been a slight hiccup; the plan might need to be moved forward a bit.”

Xinfeng hated hearing the word ‘hiccup.’ Imdiately, he replied in a hushed voice: “What kind of hiccup?”

“It doesn’t concern us. Ben is spooked by the influx of funds in their stock market and is investigating the sources and intentions behind the capital. The U.S. stock market has already started to sense sothing—so we can’t wait any longer. Begin the operation now.”

“Huh?”

Xinfeng froze montarily. He had been awaiting this mont, but now that it was finally here, he found it hard to believe.

“Start now?”

“Yes, start now.”

Taking a deep breath, Xinfeng resolutely said, “Alright, let’s begin.”

“Where will we et? I definitely can’t miss such a spectacle.”

After so thought, Xinfeng replied, “We’ll arrive first and notify you afterward.”

At such a critical juncture, Xinfeng wouldn’t allow anyone to jeopardize his plan—not even Gao Yi.

Once the operation could move forward directly, Gao Yi would be inford. The goal was to minimize all potential disruptions.

Shooting an expectant smile at the other two, Xinfeng commanded, “Let’s set off!”

Li Jie exhaled deeply and whispered, “This feels surreal. Brother Feng, how about you? Say sothing!”

Gritting his teeth, Feng Biao declared, “After tonight, you can call Hero Feng! Let’s go!”

“You two listen closely—don’t get too excited, and don’t do anything out of the ordinary. We have a long drive ahead, and I don’t want a car accident or anything else ruining my plan halfway through.”

Although urging restraint, Xinfeng looked more charged than anyone else. Wrapping up with a wave of his hand, he added, “Move out!”

With every press of the button, the warehouse door rolled up inch by inch.

This was Yokohama Port, a CIA-maintained warehouse operational for over forty years and part of the CIA’s continually active station network. Regardless of external turbulence, this port warehouse had always remained under CIA control.

Despite being allies, the United States never stopped keeping tabs on Ben and consistently prepared to target critical facilities and transportation hubs.

Currently, Xinfeng was simply utilizing the facilities and equipnt he knew about, so unveiling the truth behind everything wasn’t surprising in the least.

In summary, everything was proceeding smoothly; there could be no errors, and there wouldn’t be any.
