Alex spoke calmly, watching the floating cube.
"It’s a Golem Familiar. It can change shape into any tool or weapon its master desires — as long as the master understands the chanics behind what they want."
Fitz blinked in surprise, then slowly nodded.
"So... it responds to my engineering knowledge."
"Exactly," Alex said.
The cube pulsed once with blue light — as if agreeing.
Fitz raised his hand toward it.
The cube floated closer, scanning his palm, and then stopped right in front of him like it was waiting for a command.
Fitz swallowed, nervous but excited.
"Okay... let’s try sothing."
The cube clicked — and transford.
Pieces rotated and stretched in a smooth flash of motion until a compact handgun appeared in its place, floating in the air.
Everyone stared.
Then the panels shifted again — instantly turning into a round energy shield.
Skye’s jaw dropped.
"It can do both offense and defense?!"
Fitz couldn’t hide a grin.
"Oh, that’s not all."
The familiar changed again — turning into a screwdriver, then a laser cutter, then a wrench, cycling through tools one after another to match whatever Fitz imagined.
He laughed — a real, happy laugh.
"This is marvelous. It can beco anything I understand well enough to build."
The circle under him flashed gold.
A glowing gear-shaped symbol appeared briefly on Fitz’s right wrist before sinking into his skin.
The familiar shrank to palm-sized, floating quietly at his side.
Alex nodded.
"Congratulations, Fitz. You bonded with the **Adaptive Golem — a familiar of invention, precision, and innovation. It chooses people whose minds never stop building."
Fitz stood a little straighter, clearly proud.
Simmons wiped her eyes quickly, smiling at him.
"You did amazing."
Fitz rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed but happy.
"Thanks. And... good luck. You’re next."
Simmons took a breath and stepped forward into her circle.
Alex raised his hand again.
"Sa rule as before. One drop of blood. Nothing more."
The silver needle floated toward her.
Simmons didn’t hesitate — she pressed her thumb to the needle, and a drop of blood fell into the glowing ring.
The room went silent as the circle reacted.
The room stayed silent as the magic circle reacted to Simmons’ blood.
The glow spread upward, turning pure white at first, just like before — but then it shifted.
White turned deep red.
Not violent... not like danger.
More like living blood under a microscope — pulsing, organic, alive.
Skye stepped back.
"Okay, that looks... creepy."
Fitz looked worried now.
"Simmons, if anything feels wrong—"
She didn’t answer. She stared ahead, focused.
The red light condensed and began forming a shape.
Not chanical.
Not armored.
Not insect-like.
It grew into a creature — about the size of a person’s torso, wrapped in dark red mbrane like a growing embryo. Then the mbrane cracked open and dissolved into mist.
The familiar revealed itself:
A Crimson Blood Bat.
Deep red fur, almost velvet-like.
Black bone-like patterns along its wings.
Bright ruby eyes that seed intelligent, not feral.
It hovered silently, wings spread, watching Simmons like it was examining her DNA.
Ward stepped behind Coulson on instinct.
"That thing looks like it ca straight out of a horror movie."
Alex shook his head.
"No. If it ca from a horror movie, it wouldn’t be here."
The Blood Bat floated lower until it was eye level with Simmons.
It didn’t roar or threaten.
Instead, it opened a tiny cut on its own wing and let one drop of its blood fall toward her.
Nobody moved.
If Simmons stepped back — the bond would fail.
She didn’t.
The drop of blood touched the back of her hand — then vanished into her skin. No injury, no pain. The bat tilted its head slightly, as if confirming her acceptance.
The circle flashed gold.
Simmons gasped softly as a glowing symbol shaped like a bat-winged droplet appeared on her forearm and then faded.
The Crimson Blood Bat shrank to a small size — no bigger than a pet cat — and settled gently onto her shoulder, wrapping its wings around itself like a cloak.
Fitz blinked, stunned.
"That’s... not what I expected for you."
Simmons gave a shaky but excited smile.
"I thought I’d get sothing gentle. You know... biology, dical focus. But this... this is different."
Alex answered before anyone else could.
"It fits you perfectly."
Simmons looked at him, confused.
"How?"
Alex folded his arms.
"Crimson Blood Bats belong to the Alchemy and Recovery category. Their blood can transform into almost anything biological — depending on the intent of their master."
Simmons frowned. "Anything?"
"dicine. Antidote. Toxin. Regeneration fluid. Muscle enhancer. Sedative. Full-spectrum cure."
Alex shrugged, as if this wasn’t an unbelievable list.
"Whatever the master knows how to direct."
Skye stared.
"So basically Simmons just got a portable biological lab with wings."
"Pretty much," Alex confird.
Ward let out a low whistle.
"That is terrifying and useful at the sa ti."
Alex added one last detail:
"They are extrely rare. In Hell, most nobles keep them as treasures. Their value is... ridiculous."
Simmons blinked, stunned.
"Wait. Does that an—"
"It ans," Alex cut in, "your familiar isn’t strong because of battle power. It’s strong because of potential. What it becos depends entirely on you."
Simmons looked down at the bat, which stared back with calm ruby eyes.
She smiled — genuinely happy.
"I’ll take good care of you."
The bat chirped — a soft, gentle sound — and nuzzled her cheek.
Alex stepped forward again, clapping once to refocus everyone.
"Alright. That’s three bonds completed with no failures. Good work."
He waved casually toward the group.
"Now, you can go and experint or do whatever you guys want."
He turned to leave, but Ward stepped in front of him.
"I think we should all get it," Ward said. "I an... It didn’t show why we aren’t ready or can’t have so pets from hell."
Alex looked at him without emotion.
"No."
He walked past Ward and left the room.
Ward exhaled in frustration.
Coulson placed a hand on Ward’s shoulder.
"Relax. Not even Fury can stop that guy when he’s decided sothing."
Coulson then turned toward May, Fitz, and Simmons.
"I’ll need the full list of everything you three can do now."
