Blue Star!
The second day after the appearance of the white sun celestial phenonon, the warm morning sun shone on a remote village in Hua Country.
The morning mist had not yet dissipated, and an old farr, carrying a hoe and wearing a straw hat, swayed as he rode an electric bike out the door, taking advantage of the ti before the scorching midday sun to tend to his fields.
His na is Luo Jian Country, a na with a sense of the past, and he is a native farr of Luo Family Village.
Despite the declining inco from farming over the years, there is a saying that if farming could make money, then farrs would have no land to farm.
Luo Jian Country is the sa. After deducting the costs of fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds, he barely makes any money year-round, just enough to scrape by with a al.
After all, he has been dealing with the land all his life and knows no other skills, so farming has beco his main source of inco. Occasionally, he would do odd jobs in town, but now that he’s older, people look down on him, and most of the ti he still tends to his small plot of land.
"Old Luo, heading to the fields so early!"
"With just that bit of land, it’s not worth the hard work. Why not rent it out to others? It’ll save you effort and trouble."
"Did you see the white sun last night, Luo Jian Country? This is the video I took; co take a look, let tell you..."
People in the countryside rise early, and villagers would chat and gossip with Luo Jian Country along the way.
"Oh, I did see the white sun, got up last night and watched it for half an hour. But as intriguing as it was, you can’t neglect your fields! People can skip a al, but seedlings can’t go without water for a day."
Luo Jian Country showed a simple smile, greeting so villagers as he went to his fields.
His fields were not at the village entrance because decades ago a mudslide occurred, causing many houses to relocate and the village to shift from its original site. Luo Jian Country’s fields were in the direction of the old village site, but the electric bike made it convenient to get there.
The electric bike traveled along the dirt road, crossing a small dirt mound, with Luo Jian Country’s fields ahead.
Luo Jian Country had been here countless tis, and he couldn’t possibly take a wrong turn even with his eyes closed.
But today, when Luo Jian Country looked towards his fields, he suddenly stopped, rubbing his eyes, doubting whether he was still dreaming.
However, Luo Jian Country looked around, and it was right—nothing seed different about the grasses and trees nearby, the mountain was still the sa mountain, and the river was the sa river. He hadn’t taken a wrong turn.
Because, right in front of Luo Jian Country’s fields, stood a massive tree towering over a hundred ters tall, its canopy like a giant umbrella, blossoming with countless dazzling golden flowers, vaguely resembling a willow tree.
"This... this is the old willow tree!"
Luo Jian Country’s eyes widened, seeing a tattered red cloth strip hanging on the tree trunk, finally recognizing the origins of that tree.
At the old village site entrance, like many village entrances, Luo Family Village also planted an old willow tree.
Before Luo Family Village was relocated due to the mudslide, it was a place where many elderly residents gathered in the evenings to cool off, chat, and play cards, and where children played. Luo Jian Country spent much of his youth playing there.
This old willow tree was planted by their Liu Family ancestors, with a history of over a hundred years. There was even an external rchant who once tried to purchase it at a high price, but was then collectively opposed by the villagers of Luo Family Village, allowing the old willow tree to remain.
Yet Luo Jian Country passed by here every day, and the old willow tree was at most fifteen or sixteen ters tall. Moreover, it wasn’t the willow tree’s flowering season, and it didn’t bloom in these golden-red colors.
"Could it be haunted?"
An inexplicable sense of fear welled up in Luo Jian Country’s heart, looking at the hundred-ter-tall towering tree. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t been here for decades; he just passed by yesterday.
This ans that the tree grew from a little over ten ters to a hundred ters overnight.
The older generation was more traditional and superstitious. Faced with such an illogical yet seemingly supernatural scene, Luo Jian Country quickly turned his electric bike around, revved it hard, and sped back toward Luo Family Village.
"Not... not good, soone co, co quick! Our village... The willow tree at the village entrance is haunted."
Luo Jian Country shouted at the top of his lungs, quickly alarming the entire village.
One by one, villagers ca out of their houses, looking bewildered at the panic-stricken Luo Jian Country, not knowing what madness had overtaken him.
After hearing Luo Jian Country’s explanation, many villagers burst out laughing initially.
"Old Luo, did you not sleep well last night? Why are you having visions early in the morning?"
"Haha, our Luo Family Village’s old willow tree grew ten tis taller overnight. Uncle Luo, I never knew you had such a sense of humor."
"What do you people know? This is called the real deal going unnoticed. Old Luo was not amazed enough by last night’s white sun, so he’s purposely joking with us."
The villagers laughed heartily, not taking Luo Jian Country’s words seriously.
"I’m telling the truth. If you don’t believe , co with to see. If I’m lying in any way, I will, I will..."
Luo Jian Country stamred a bit, then seeing the indifferent attitudes of those around him, he loudly declared, "I’ll treat everyone to a al."
The surrounding villagers paused, knowing that hosting wasn’t a word often associated with Luo Jian Country due to his family’s poor economic condition.
"Let’s go; let’s all go and take a look. Jian Country is always honest and not one to boast easily."
This was the old village chief of Luo Family Village, stepping out, understanding Luo Jian Country’s nature, and inviting everyone to co along and see.
"Listen to the chief."
"Alright, let’s go see, nothing better to do anyway."
"If there’s nothing there, I’ll definitely get a good al out of old Luo."
Upon hearing this, the surrounding people followed the respected old chief’s lead.
Soon, talking and laughing, the group arrived at the old village site entrance.
When everyone saw the massive tree towering a hundred ters, its canopy like an umbrella, they were so stunned that their eyes almost popped out, finally realizing that Luo Jian Country’s words were not false.
"See, I wasn’t lying to you all."
Luo Jian Country shouted loudly, and as more people gathered, he beca less afraid.
"Oh my, this is our village’s old Willow Tree, how did it beco like this?"
"Whoa, whoa, has it mutated or sothing?"
"Ancestral spirits, bless us, your descendants will go to the ancestral hall and offer incense to you."
The villagers were all quite shocked, and so knelt down, bowing to the Willow Tree, thinking it was the manifestation of their ancestors’ spirits.
"My God, I got it, this must be related to that white sun last night, it’s a sign of the end tis. Everyone, hurry up and stockpile food, prepare weapons, and build a doomsday shelter."
A young man couldn’t help but shout, although many young people from the village went out to work, so remained in the village.
"Nonsense, this is the old tree that has watched us grow up since childhood. Now that the tree has shown anomalies, it’s clearly the protection from our Luo family’s ancestors, it has nothing to do with the end of the world."
The old village chief slapped the young man on the back of the head, speaking irritably.
The young man scratched his head, looking very innocent: "Village... Village Chief, that’s how they write it in the doomsday novels I read."
"Read less of those in the future."
The old village chief, leaning on his crutch, called out: "Co over, a few of you, let’s get closer and take a look."
"I’ll go, I’ll go."
The young man who spoke earlier volunteered, and along with a few others accompanied the old village chief towards the Willow Tree.
As they got closer, they were increasingly stunned by the enormity of the Willow Tree. The trunk alone required dozens of people to encircle, and the tree crown covered a diater of several hundred ters of the Sky Do, with speckled light filtering down, falling on them.
"Village Chief, why do I feel a bit hot!"
" too."
"Yes! I’ve been wanting to say that for a while now."
Beads of sweat trickled down their foreheads, their bodies drenched in sweat.
The old village chief looked at the fiery red hue of the tree bark, seemingly understanding sothing, and cautiously placed his crutch against it.
Zi!
It was as if touching a red-hot iron, as wisps of blue smoke rose from the bottom of the crutch, eventually catching fire.
Seeing this, everyone took a sharp breath, backing away in surprise.
Before they could react, the sky was filled with birds flying towards this spot.
From sparrows to white cranes, they all sward around the Willow Tree, forming a circling dance, seemingly worshipping the Willow Tree.
Imdiately after, the birds began fierce competition amongst themselves, pecking and clawing at one another in combat, with feathers falling everywhere.
Only so of the stronger birds managed to fly onto the lush canopy of the Willow Tree and began collecting fallen leaves, as if to build nests.
"Are these birds crazy?"
"Is there so treasure on the tree? Otherwise, why are these birds fighting so fiercely?"
"The ancestors truly appeared, surely our ancestors want to hint sothing to us."
The villagers of the Luo Family Village discussed animatedly, with so already taking out their phones to capture and record this astonishing scene.
"I understand now."
The young man, upon witnessing this astonishing scene, suddenly shouted, startling those around him.
"You understand again?"
The old village chief glared.
The young man quickly said: "Village Chief, there’s a saying that goes, ’Plant a Wutong tree and the Phoenix will co.’ Our tree here is the Wutong tree, which is why it attracts a flock of birds wishing to settle and nest here."
The old village chief was montarily speechless, saying: "But this isn’t a Wutong tree either!"
The young man patted his chest and said confidently: "I think it’s related to the white sun last night, our Willow tree is reverting to its ancestral form. Earlier I was wrong, this is not the end but rather the Spiritual Energy Recovery!"
"You should read fewer novels, what kind of Willow Tree can revert to an ancestral form and mutate!"
The old village chief, whiskers bristling, seed as if he might hit the young man with his crutch on the spot, causing the young man to quickly hide in the crowd.
Because the Willow Tree was so extraordinary, the villagers of the Luo Family Village dared not approach it at will.
However, the commotion here inevitably spread, and people from nearby villages heard of it and ca rushing over, while people from the city drove in to witness the spectacle.
Related videos spread online, garnering huge attention, with self-dia bloggers rushing to Luo Family Village to gain traction and livestream the event.
But before the commotion could last long, soldiers appeared in Luo Family Village, completely sealing off the area under the guise of a military exercise, prohibiting anyone from approaching.
The original villagers of Luo Family Village were given large sums of money and relocated from the village.
Almost simultaneously, large numbers of researchers and high-tech equipnt were continuously transported into Luo Family Village, and renowned professors of biology and botany from major universities were invited to conduct studies around the mutated Willow Tree.
Yet many were still unaware that similar scenes were occurring dozens of tis around the world.
The entire Blue Star, like bamboo shoots after the rain, was being affected by a vital force, influencing every inch of land.
