When the air raid ceased, the air was filled with the scent of gunpowder and blood, and the burning branches crackled in the flas. Broken bodies mixed with scorched earth spread all around, promising that the vegetation here would certainly flourish the coming year.

Inside a bomb shelter, Theodore held his gun, feeling the vibrations above him disappear, and his face slightly regained so color.

"The bombing is over, Squad Leader, we survived."

Theodore kept shouting, as everyone’s eardrums were slightly deafened, speaking quietly would hardly be heard.

Lurking in the bomb shelter was a squad of infantry from You Tai Country. Besides the squad leader and deputy squad leader, the others were conscripted militia and strong n temporarily caught.

On their first battlefield encounter, they faced such a scale of bombing. Not to ntion regular soldiers, even the squad leader, a veteran with seven years of service, turned pale. The bombing stopped, and he remained dazed for a while before his consciousness seed to return to his physical body.

"The bombing is over, the bombing is over."

The squad leader’s eyes widened, and after feeling over his own body to ensure nothing was missing, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Squad Leader, I’ll go out first to check the situation. If those scum from Jieke Group launch an attack, I must kill ten or eight of them."

Theodore spoke passionately, as he was the staunchest believer of the You Tai Sect. While others were forcibly conscripted, he volunteered to join the army, determined to punish the wicked heretics from Jieke Group.

"Get back, do you want to die?"

The squad leader pulled Theodore back, speaking annoyedly.

"Rather than living quietly, I’d rather die heroically. Offering my life for God is my honor."

Theodore argued, and in this modern society, fanatics like him were rare, making other new recruits look at him with peculiar eyes.

"I’ll go out first to check, you all stay put in the bomb shelter."

This You Tai squad leader was very responsible, crouching as he himself crawled out of the bomb shelter first amidst the nervous gazes of the other new recruits.

What ca into view was a trench defense area originally located in a small woods, now leveled, with large craters all around, turning the earth into a honeycomb-like surface.

The squad leader looked around, the trenches were interconnected here, with many separate bomb shelters dispersing the main units all around.

This defensive area was a necessary path to the west district of Yelu City, having already reached the front line, but was subjected to a round of bombing.

What the squad leader saw were many destroyed bomb shelters and collapsed trenches, soldiers severely wounded and killed.

When he attempted to contact his superiors via radio, there was no response at all.

Because the command system and communication stations here had been hit by airstrikes of Jieke Group, with so fighters dropping drilling bombs, wiping out the command systems deep underground, causing the You Tai military’s command to beco extrely chaotic now.

Just as the squad leader was troubled, the ground started slightly vibrating.

On the horizon in the distance, one steel giant after another crashed through the lingering smoke, with long, slender tal legs stepping onto the battlefield. Cold fuselages and black cannon muzzles glead with death’s hue.

Those were Spider Main Battle cha, nearly two hundred Main Battle chas spaced two to three hundred ters apart, creating a wide attack front.

Such rows of steel giants traversing the battlefield, with engine roars thundering like a storm, tallic long legs pressed down on the soil, forming a steel flood advancing in strides, iron hooves shaking, as if awakening the earth with an invisible roar, resembling a natural disaster.

The squad leader’s breath caught, a wave of uncontrollable trembling swept through his body and mind.

"Enemy’s 1st chanized Battle Brigade launched an attack, everyone, quickly enter the defensive positions."

The next mont, the squad leader shouted out loud.

Soldiers in the bomb shelter climbed out one after another, and upon seeing Jieke Group’s Main Battle cha forces, every single one of these new recruits revealed fear in their eyes.

A Spider Main Battle cha resembled a four-story building, covered in Heavy Armor, weighing over one hundred tons, speeding forward at 85 kiloters per hour like a steel beast.

And what was before them wasn’t just one steel beast, but a force of nearly two hundred chas charging towards them at high speed.

Any normal human would instinctively feel fear, similar to ancient infantry facing the charge of Heavy Cavalry, Spider Main Battle cha’s charge was even more exaggerated.

Seeing the Spider Main Battle cha, Theodore’s hot blood seed chilled with cold water, his limbs even beginning to disobey.

Originally he thought death was just like that, as long as he could kill heretics, he’d offer all he has.

But witnessing real warfare, he realized it wasn’t like that at all.

Though his ideology was fanatic, his body’s instinctive fear made him realize that his inner conviction wasn’t nearly so firm and fearless.

Under Theodore’s gaze, sunlight streaming through battlefield smoke fell speckled upon the Spider Main Battle cha’s outer shell, reflecting a cold tallic sheen, with its 203 cannon rotating, a murderous aura perating the battlefield.

Boom!

A loud bang, the Spider cha’s main cannon roared, announcing the start of the ground offensive.

Flas flickered at the cannon muzzle, followed by smoke, debris, and human limbs flying in explosions, dirt and vegetation were rcilessly thrown into the air.

Theodore frantically picked up the Rocket Launcher, as a shell landed on a section of trenches beside them.

Originally stationed there was a You Tai infantry platoon, but hit by a 203mm caliber cannon, a shell weighing over a hundred kilograms precisely fell into the trenches.

With a loud explosion, that section of the trench was completely destroyed, over thirty You Tai soldiers beca nothing but flying chunks of at scattered all around.

Splat!

A severed leg happened to fall in front of Theodore, belonging to an unfortunate soul, twitching reflexively a few tis on the ground, causing Theodore to jump back several steps in fright.

"The enemy is coming up!"

The angry shout of the You Tai squad leader snapped Theodore out of his fear.

Ahead, the torrent of chas approached swiftly, the towering bodies twelve ters high, weighing hundreds of tons, already within range of anti-armor weaponry.

"Rocket launcher, anti-tank missile..."

The squad leader commanded his subordinates, while frantically using radio equipnt to contact the command post in the rear, seeking fire support.

Whether it’s tanks, armored vehicles, rocket launch vehicles, artillery, or helicopters, as long as there’s heavy firepower, anything would do. They can’t let these infantry take on the Spider Main Battle chas with crude weapons!

However, the squad leader’s request disappeared into thin air, destined to remain an unfulfilled luxury.

Due to the severe losses of heavy weaponry in You Tai Country under air strikes and with Luanyang Air-Space Strategic Bombers and Magic Bird Fighters still on patrol overhead, any exposed heavy firepower would be pinpointed and eliminated by the air force.

This is the advantage of having air supremacy. Having an air force is akin to having complete control, making war very straightforward.

One by one, Spider Main Battle chas move through smoke and dust, the 203mm main gun firing high explosive bombs, which are excellent for hitting infantry as well.

The crude defensive positions can’t withstand such powerful shell bombardnt, each shot sending a multitude of human remains flying high.

Within a kiloter, the other weapons of the Spider Main Battle chas gradually opened fire.

Besides the 203mm main gun, the Spider Main Battle chas are ard with two 30mm machine guns, four 20mm machine guns, eight 12.7mm heavy machine guns, coupled with their superb defensive capabilities, bio-mass tumors combined with steel armor plates offer effective protection against enemy fire, functioning like a moving firepower fortress.

These steel monsters tread onto the battlefield, representing almost a one-sided massacre against infantry.

The machine guns sever human bodies into halves, and the bullets from the machine guns create gaping holes in human flesh.

The main gun roars, the rain of bullets sweeps the field, and the Spider Main Battle chas rcilessly suppress everything with their firepower.

Many soldiers hiding in trenches barely lift their heads before being blasted apart by machine gun fire, their upper bodies hurdling several ters away.

The sound of engines roaring and the explosions of artillery intertwine, defensive lines being torn apart one by one, the Spider Main Battle chas advancing like a hot knife through butter, destroying everything in their path.

Theodore’s body trembled because their squad leader had just been hit by a 30mm machine gun round.

The machine gun blast, with thousands of joules of energy, shattered his upper body, splattering blood and pieces of flesh all over Theodore’s face.

At this mont, a Spider Main Battle cha had approached within five hundred ters, and the sound of its machine guns and roaring main gun was clearly audible.

Theodore’s face was full of tension as he clenched tightly onto a rocket launcher, his palms sweaty.

"A bit closer," he murmured.

Theodore exchanged glances with a few surviving soldiers nearby, knowing that running out of the trenches now would only result in a quicker death.

Ti seed to freeze as Theodore cautiously watched the approaching steel behemoth, each breath tense with anxiety.

Getting closer, Theodore raised the rocket launcher.

But just then, he seed to notice several small black figures jumping down from the Spider Main Battle cha.

They were Genetic Warriors accompanying the Spider Main Battle chas, compensating for the cha’s lack of agility and sight lines.

Theodore’s breath caught because he locked eyes with a Genetic Warrior.

The opponent’s gaze was full of cold killing intent, holding two Gatling machine guns, the barrels spinning.

Theodore sensed the danger and swiftly ducked his head back.

But his teammates were slower to react, attempting to evade, but it was already too late.

Bullets swept by like a whip, and in an instant, Theodore’s few teammates were transford into masses of bullet holes, collapsing dead at Theodore’s feet.

The terrifying firepower suppressed Theodore so much that he couldn’t lift his head, only hearing continuous gunfire all around as he trembled like a quail huddled in the trench.

Suddenly, the oppressive Gatling fire ceased, and Theodore instinctively grabbed the rocket launcher, then looked up.

Just as he grabbed the rocket launcher, the sky darkened over his head.

A Spider Main Battle cha lood above him, crossing over the trench while blocking out the sunlight overhead.

"God!"

Theodore’s expression was blank as a tallic long leg of the Spider Main Battle cha rose and stomped down heavily.

Squish!

Theodore’s entire body was crushed underfoot, pressed into the mud, his innards and bones shattered along with the distortedly crushed rocket launcher.

Until his death, Theodore hadn’t fired a single shot.

He supposedly died a glorious death, but the result was far from dignified, becoming another insignificant piece of cannon fodder in this war.

The only contribution he made was to stain the legs of the Spider Main Battle cha with blood and flesh, requiring a good cleaning later, which was also the fate of most You Tai Country infantry.
