Chapter 224

"Hey, Emotion."

'......I refuse to answer.'

A cold remark.

The main reason was likely that their gourt trip had been temporarily canceled. It wasn't Kait's fault, but apparently it wasn't sothing that could be reasoned with.

While the two were discussing where to go next, they received a sudden summons from the Federation Congress. It was marked urgent, so they had to cut their gourt trip short and rush off on an ergency assignnt.

Queen Bee was waiting in full combat readiness. The mission this ti was to eliminate hostile lifeforms that, not limited to the Federation, were to be imdiately exterminated upon detection.

'I have a question. Could it be that Earthlings are sotis born with the mories of other species?'

"Yeah. I'm starting to suspect that too."

What awaited them were multiple cots. These weren't ones that followed regular orbits, but rather appeared suddenly, flying toward star systems and scattering bizarre creatures onto asteroids and planets along their paths.

Communication was impossible. Though they possessed enough intelligence to understand tactics and strategy, they refused contact with any sentient beings, which is why they were classified as hostile lifeforms.

Their appearance was reminiscent of creatures often depicted in classic sci-fi.

The leader of the kind that looked like it would lovingly cling to your face erged in droves from within the cots.

"They mimic cots to travel through space, then scatter their kin upon approaching a planet... What an incredibly troubleso species."

'It seems to be regardless of whether there are lifeforms or not.'

"Maybe they parasitize so clueless intelligent beings who co for resource mining?"

'......That sounds exactly like what might happen, so could we not talk about that?'

"Roger that!"

As the swarm of creatures spilled out, Kait deployed the Worker Bees. For area suppression, Worker Bees were more suitable than the Psionic Launcher. Though they lacked destructive power, their psychic-enhanced steel plates turned the creature swarm into re objects.

As for the ones that slipped through, the Federation fleet waiting near the planet's orbit launched relentless attacks.

Not a single one must be allowed to reach the planet.

Then, one of the cots suddenly exploded without warning. It was completely obliterated, leaving nothing behind.

It was Di-Kigaia Zarmos. The space jellyfish behind Kait began crushing the cots one after another.

"......This might be the first ti I've seen Terapolapaneshio in combat."

'Now that you ntion it, yes. What did it do, I wonder?'

"Probably wrapped around it and crushed it. Like, squish."

As Kait made a squeezing gesture with his fist, Emotion voiced a simple question.

'Can't the Captain do that?'

"I'm not really good at controlling formless power."

That's precisely why he used the Psionic Launcher and Worker Bees. By defining the contours to so extent with Worker Bees, he could control the force field. In the end, it was probably a matter of imagination.

In any case, the cot destruction was complete. They confird that all the scattered strange creatures had also been defeated.

"Well, is that everything?"

'Seems so. Then, our next destination—'

'No, not yet. Kait, Third-Rank Citizen Enec Lagif, first let thank you for your cooperation. This was the most stable extermination we've ever achieved.'

"......Uh."

The one who interrupted the conversation with Emotion via communication was Terapolapaneshio. Still the sa unreasonable space jellyfish. How it managed to break into Kait and Emotion's conversation via comms was anyone's guess.

"What do you an, not yet?"

'The others are currently heading to identify the origin point of the creatures. While they're being observed, we need to trace the path they took and eliminate any scattered eggs.'

"Eggs."

'Indeed. These creatures have a biology that allows them to parasitize intelligent beings to reproduce. The Federation has already faced planetary destruction caused by them several tis.'

"I-I see..."

Laying eggs inside humans to increase their numbers. Sohow, it felt like sothing heard or seen sowhere before.

Could it really be that so Earthlings in the past had received the mories of lifeforms from other planets? Kait and Emotion found themselves seriously pondering the possibility.
