Chapter 162

Dan and Kissinger did not take Queen Bee's hand. Hopefully, it wasn't just because an arm suddenly sprouted from the fighter and it grossed them out...

"Oh, is that a no?"

'It's not that it's a no. But we live for revenge. Even if you ask us to help capture them—'

"You want to take revenge with your own hands. A noble sentint."

It wasn't sarcasm—he sincerely ant it.

Kait was certain that even if he were in their position, he wouldn't chase Divin down for revenge. Most likely, he'd be satisfied with letting the Federation settle the score properly.

"By the way, how many people are in your group over there?"

'Huh...? W-why does our number matter?'

"You sure? Divin's population is in the billions, you know."

'Ah.'

"I'm not saying you shouldn't take revenge... but will you make it in ti?"

Specifically, to reach the root of all these incidents.

While Kait was talking with Dan, Emotion was skimming through Earthling records. There was no one nad Dan Carter among the Earthlings affiliated with the Federation. Emotion's reply appeared in Kait's vision—his na wasn't even on the roster sold to Divin.

In other words, either Dan Carter was an alias, or he was telling the truth but ca from a different origin than Kait and the others.

A visitor from a parallel world—that was the simplest explanation within Kait's knowledge. They were both from a planet called Earth, both had their fates twisted by Divin. The differing fates of their planets felt very much like parallel worlds.

'...Sorry, but we need to have a little talk.'

"I don't mind."

Kait knew Dan had companions. With Kissinger's specs, it was hard to catch up to a ship or operate like one. They needed sothing to carry and maintain it.

A ship approached Kissinger. It must have been hiding nearby using so kind of stealth function. Now it made sense how they knew Divin was their enemy—and how they had tracked them so precisely.

"Did you capture it?"

'Or maybe we just picked up sothing that was abandoned.'

"And your basis for that?"

'There are clear signs of extensive modification. On the other hand, the armor has a mottled color. This discoloration is very similar to the reaction caused by exposure to extre heat.'

When it ca to analysis, there was no reason to doubt Emotion's words. Kait also kept her prediction in mind as a highly probable scenario.

Extre heat, the phrase 'destroyed Earth', and an unwavering intent to kill Divin. Kait felt like he was starting to see what Dan and the others had been through.

Kait instinctively opened a line to Divin behind him. He had thought they would teleport away as soon as they were ready, but they were still there. Bold, or maybe just reckless.

"You people really do whatever you want, huh?"

'W-what are you talking about!? You're the one doing whatever you please! You had them attack us—what are you trying to accomplish!?'

"I told you, I'm not involved this ti. Besides, that's your ship, isn't it?"

'Don't be ridiculous! How could that thing be ours...'

Divin, upon seeing the ship that appeared, fell silent.

Apparently, they recognized it. As Kait stayed silent, important words leaked from the other side of the transmission.

'That's... no way... the royal ship...?'

"Oh? The royal ship."

'Wha...!?'

"Emotion."

'Imdiately.'

That Divin was a monarchy was common knowledge. It wasn't clear how much had been modified, but the ship retained enough of its original features to be recognized as the royal ship. Emotion instantly morized its shape and shared the data with the Federation.

Kait rembered that none of the ships they defeated on Earth had that shape. Apparently, their Earth wasn't a place the royal family would visit. Not that it bothered him, but it was still vaguely irritating.

"Well, whatever. So you're not going to teleport and flee?"

'Don't play dumb. You're the one jamming our teleportation.'

"Oh, you have that kind of tech? I see. So you didn't choose to stay—you couldn't escape."

'Wait, do you really not know?'

"That's what I've been saying. Oh yeah—on Earth, you guys were surrounded by Federation forces, weren't you? So I guess that kind of tech does exist..."

So when they said they completed the encirclent, they ant they'd blocked Divin's ability to teleport.

Disrupt teleportation, then annihilate the confused Divin along with their ship. A strategy dripping with murderous intent.

"Well, in any case, you'd better get ready to run. Depending on their answer, I might not have the luxury to worry about you."

'What did you say?'

He'd said all he needed to. He cut the line unilaterally. If they still didn't flee, then it was no longer Kait's concern. If they escaped, it would save him so trouble—but in the end, it was just a matter of convenience.

Kait had no reason to feel any fondness for Divin. Even helping them escape was just because it suited his side.

'Mr. Kait. The discussion is over.'

"I see. So, what will you do, Lieutenant Carter?"

The call from Dan was initiated from their side. They had analyzed the previous transmission Kait had interrupted and forced their way back in. Kait had suspected as much—they clearly had so very skilled engineers.

The fact that they had analyzed and repurposed Divin's technology showed they weren't of average intellect. Honestly, that was part of why Kait couldn't fully believe they were just 'Earthlings burning with revenge'. It felt like they had help from so other intelligent species.

Dan's expression was extrely flat. With that look, there was no need to wait for his answer.

'Sorry, but I can't accept your offer.'

"I see. May I ask why?"

It would've been easier if the emotional high of their dramatic encounter had swayed them into listening to him. But the information gap between them was just too wide.

Dan shook his head with a pained expression.

'You're too suspicious. There's an Earthling who knows things we don't. It's too unnatural. Don't you think?'

"I agree. You all seem way too suspicious to too."

So in the end, both sides were thinking the sa thing.

Kait couldn't exactly talk either. He let out a wry chuckle.

"Seriously. Earthlings really are naturally distrustful creatures. So, what now?"

'Step aside. Our target is Divin. Even if it's unnatural, we don't want to kill soone claiming to be an Earthling.'

"So basically, you won't be satisfied until you take down Divin."

'Exactly. This is your final warning. If you don't want to die... get out of the way!'

The ship that had been carrying Kissinger was fairly large. Kait's Queen Bee, at a glance, looked like a small vessel. Well, normally, Dan's stance would be the standard one. Normally, that is.

But unfortunately, Queen Bee wasn't normal. And neither was Kait, who piloted it.

"Yeah. I don't want to die yet either."

'A wise decision.'

"But don't get the wrong idea."

And this was sothing Kait had only just realized himself.

Apparently, he didn't really like Earthlings—regardless of their origin. He couldn't stand being looked down on.

"Thinking you can kill with your level of firepower—that's your biggest mistake."

'What—'

"If anything, you'd better be careful. I intend to hold back as much as I can—"

Queen Bee's armor plates burst open all at once. The Worker Bees deployed around them, entering combat mode.

"Try not to die on . You don't have any spare lives, do you? At least, not yet."
