Consuming the leaves could grant the Death Power within them.

He revealed his Demon Body, commanding the ghosts as the Death God to possess the peach tree sapling.
Facing Li Yang, the ghosts’ dull faces finally showed fear; under his spell, they sward into the peach tree sapling.
Li Yang certainly wouldn’t imprison just one soul in the peach tree. To create an Extraordinary Plant capable of sharing Spiritual Power, a vast amount of Spiritual Power was needed.
With several souls imprisoned in the sapling, it was tantamount to having multiple Seas of Spirit.
From Li Yang’s perspective, a strange scene unfolded.
The peach tree sapling imprisoned hundreds of souls, which let out horrific wails, sending shivers down one’s spine.
