The battle outside the Imperial Palace was brutal.
Under the cover of armored vehicles and the Imperial Palace’s walls, the Defense Army’s firearms spat flas, successfully keeping the demons at bay.
The demons roared in anger, their eyes full of venomous hatred toward humans.
They could breathe fire, wield Wind Blades, and summon Water Arrows; they had their own firepower.
So demons possessed powerful regenerative abilities, imnse strength, and incredible speed; they were both assassins and at shields.
Although these demons had just developed intelligence and did not have the mindset for cooperative combat, they were fearless in the face of death.
These demons ca from the zoo; they despised humans!
It felt like, a fool being stripped and humiliated by a villain, having his wife and children killed by the villain, then being given half a bun and the fool grinning foolishly.
However, when the fool ceases to be a fool and gains wisdom, he becos filled with hatred toward the villain.
These demons were once fools, except their beastly nature is even more bloodthirsty!
In the grass far from the Imperial Palace, a Black Dog watched the scene with a sly look in its eyes, murmuring:
"These newly awakened demons simply cannot breach the Imperial Palace.
Tsk tsk tsk, never underestimate the power of humans."
The Black Dog pondered whether to lend a hand to the demons.
After going through so much trouble to drive the demons here, it would be a great loss if they were annihilated by the reinforcing City Guard.
This ’Night Parade of Hundred Demons’ was almost happening in every important city in East Sakura.
Of these cities, the Black Dog was most concerned about Ban City and the Eastern Capital.
Ban City had its own palace and Seii Shrine, where those witches were very eager for shikigami.
At this mont, there were enough demons causing mischief in Ban City, providing enough for the witches to capture so as shikigami.
In the Eastern Capital, the Imperial Palace stood; today, whether the demons could breach it was the most crucial step in dominating East Sakura.
Just as Xiaohai was about to act, chaotic noises appeared in the sky.
Xiaohai looked up.
Countless birds of various kinds were flying toward the interior of the Imperial Palace, their eyes red.
Xiaohai laughed.
The Imperial Palace’s Defense Army could indeed keep the demons at the gate, but they had no ans to stop the bird-like demons from attacking the Imperial Palace.
This lovely Imperial Palace, for the dignity of the Royal Family, had not installed those unsightly electric grids.
.......
Inside the Imperial Palace.
The sound of gunfire outside could clearly be heard inside the East Sakura’s classical eting hall.
The Empress maintained her elegance and majesty, sitting calmly, ignoring the screams of demons and the sounds of gun and cannon fire.
The Empress continued the conversation with her ministers:
"I need a detailed report on the cities in East Sakura experiencing a Night Parade of Hundred Demons."
The Pri Minister, looking at his phone, said as he read:
"The Eastern Capital, Gong Valley, Ancient House, Ban City......"
The Empress suddenly interrupted, squinting her eyes as she asked:
"Ban City?"
The Pri Minister quickly turned a page of the report and said:
"Yes, Ban City.
However, the Night Parade of Hundred Demons hasn’t caused much harm to Ban City.
Perhaps because of the Great Evil Demon King’s palace, there aren’t many demons in Ban City.
The witches of Seii Shrine have already stepped in to assist the Sheriff."
The Empress mused, saying:
"The witches have indeed all gained extraordinary powers."
The Pri Minister put down his phone:
"So it seems, Your Majesty."
At this mont, the chirping of birds resounded above.
Believe , this bird call was not the sort of enchanting sound described in textbooks that makes one feel close to nature.
It was a shrill sound that made one’s skin crawl.
Countless sparrows, heedless of their own lives, slamd into the windows.
These sparrows did not possess Extraordinary Power; they were controlled by so bird-like demons.
The windows were stained with a ghastly mix of sparrow at and blood, both disgusting and terrifying.
Several generals hurriedly grabbed tables and chairs to use as weapons to protect the Empress.
’Bang! Bang!’
The windows shattered.
As flocks of sparrows sward in, a few fierce birds, eyes filled with bloodlust, swooped in, standing on the table.
The Admiral roared, picking up a chair and hurling it at an eagle demon.
The eagle demon flapped its wings, their edges sharp as blades, slicing the chair in half and propelling the Admiral several ters backward.
An ugly wound appeared on the Admiral’s chest.
"Caw!"
A raptor dangerously locked its gaze on the Empress, swooping toward her.
For a brief mont, a hint of panic, rarely seen, appeared on the Empress’s elegant face.
She had never expected the chaos of the Spiritual Energy Revival to be so terrifying.
And this was only the beginning of the Spiritual Energy Revival, yet the Defense Army was already caught off guard.
What if, in the future, the Spiritual Energy Revival intensified and Great Demons similar to Xia Guolong erged?
Can the weapons of East Sakura really destroy those monsters?
At this mont, a deep voice resounded, like thunder.
"How daring you are to cause trouble in my territory!"
The bird demons froze upon hearing this voice.
Even the eagle demon that had flown in front of the Empress froze in mid-air, looking fearfully behind.
Everyone followed the sound with their eyes.
They saw a pitch-black Gate of Hell slowly opening, and Xiaohai, looking wild and unruly, stepped out from it.
Xiaohai waved his hand, and the eagle demon, along with the intruding demons in the room, was instantly crushed.
These demons had already fulfilled their purpose.
Xiaohai’s heart was far more ruthless than the Crow’s.
"Great Evil Demon King!"
The Pri Minister was the first to speak.
Only then did the ministers realize this was the legendary Great Evil Demon King!
But why would the Great Evil Demon King stop the Demon Race from wreaking havoc?
With just one move, he eliminated all the evil spirits in the room. What terrifying mana is this?
The Empress’s pupils contracted.
According to the laws of the animal kingdom, beasts mark their territory.
If an outsider enters the territory, they are deed an intruder.
Is the Great Evil Demon King considering the entirety of East Sakura as his hunting ground?
Xiaohai glanced at the many ministers and finally fixed his gaze on the Empress, a trace of greed in his eyes.
No wonder they say the princess is beautiful; it turns out her mother is a great beauty!
Xiaohai walked up to the Empress and stood in front of her.
His tall stature exerted a strong sense of oppression on the slender Empress.
Xiaohai spoke:
"Why hasn’t the maid I requested been sent to yet?"
The Empress gave the Great Evil Demon King a deep look:
"You must pay sothing in exchange; otherwise, why would I give my own daughter to you?"
A slight smile appeared on Xiaohai’s face.
He sowhat admired this woman now.
Xiaohai said:
"Originally, the Great Evil Palace could protect East Sakura, but you didn’t intend to accept my goodwill.
You sent out warriors attempting to kidnap my wife and children, and sought to ambush and kill .
However, since you’re proposing a deal, let’s make one.
Give the princess, and I’ll ensure the Imperial Palace’s safety for ten thousand years."
The Empress secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems the Great Evil Demon King truly is a demon.
A demon’s thought process is completely different from a human’s.
If the Great Evil Demon King wanted, he could probably take the princess right now; why bother with any deal?
Demons indeed are just as obsessed with transactions and promises as described in ancient books.
In fact, Xiaohai doesn’t necessarily want to make a deal or take the princess away.
He isn’t like demons of East Sakura who make century-long agreents arbitrarily.
Like soone’s grandfather who borrowed a bowl of rice from a demon, only for the demon to demand repaynt from his descendants a hundred years later.
Xiaohai had learned so things from following Li Yang for so long.
He intends to continually lower East Sakura’s bottom line until they ultimately abandon their dignity and rights, completely descending into slavery.
The Empress shook her head:
"No, that’s not enough. I need you to protect the entirety of East Sakura."
Xiaohai scoffed, shaking his head.
The Empress frowned:
"East Sakura has already established hundreds of Great Evil Demon King Shrines..."
Before she could finish, Xiaohai interrupted:
"All those sentints were exhausted the last ti you plotted against .
If there weren’t so many of my shrines in East Sakura, I would have already devoured the royal family."
The Empress bit her red lips.
She had negotiated successfully with many countries and international magnates.
But the demon in front of her couldn’t be judged by common sense.
Xiaohai continued:
"If you want to protect the entirety of East Sakura, just offering the princess is insufficient."
The Empress probed further:
"What else do you want?"
A slight arc ford on Xiaohai’s lips as he pointed at the Empress:
"I want you as well."
The Empress’s beautiful eyes widened slightly.
Xiaohai imdiately added:
"I also want you to worship ."
