Inside the kitchen, Xin Yu was washing the dishes with his hands when suddenly, soone hugged him from behind, their entire body pressing against his.
"Kiana, what's wrong?"
Xin Yu paused his actions. Without turning around, he knew who was hugging him.
"I just suddenly feel that eting you is the greatest fortune of my life."
"That day I t you in Nagazora, my usually good luck turned consistently bad, right up until you knocked over my fried chicken. I know now, having my fried chicken knocked over by you back then wasn't my misfortune, but my greatest fortune. It was the greatest luck I received after a whole day of misfortune."
"Thank you, Xin Yu."
Kiana pressed her face against Xin Yu's back, feeling the warmth he transmitted. This sense of security, this feeling that allowed one to completely relax, was truly too comfortable.
However, Kiana didn't keep hugging Xin Yu. She only held him for a mont before letting go. Then, looking at Raiden i who was standing outside staring at them, she walked over with a smile and said, "i, do you want to experience Xin Yu's embrace too? When he hugs soone, it's really warm and comfortable."
"N-No, thank you."
Raiden i fled, her face blushing. Kiana didn't press further. Watching Raiden i run towards the second floor, she turned back to Xin Yu, who was still cleaning up in the kitchen, and asked, "Xin Yu, how do you see i?"
"As a friend."
"Just a friend?"
"Until i makes a formal change, until she has truly confird her own feelings and confird she wants to spend the rest of her life with , I will not make any inappropriate moves. I will only treat her as my friend, at most feeling that she needs so extra care."
"Aren't you going to try taking the initiative? You should be able to see that i has quite a bit of affection for you now. As long as you say a few sweet words and make so intimate gestures, she'll probably agree, half-reluctantly, half-willingly."
"...Kiana, I currently have three lovers. The first is nad Yae Sakura. I saved her, changed her past destiny, but because of my existence, her emotions beca very extre. So, I accompanied her for 200 years, and thus, I fell in love with her."
"The second is you. To be precise, it's the future you who, for so reason I don't know, suddenly confessed to and even said you were willing to share. I'm not sure why at the ti, but I agreed. And I also said you could back out anyti. After all, before becoming lovers, we were friends."
"The third is Mobius. We t in the Previous Era, tens of thousands of years ago. Because my companionship eased her loneliness, because my existence beca a sliver of miracle in her life, she latched onto ."
"As for Raiden i... I currently have no feelings for her. So, I will not make any tentative steps. In fact, you should also tell her that I already have multiple lovers. If, under these circumstances, she is still willing to entrust her future life to , then I will also bear the weight of her life. I will also try to love her."
Xin Yu flicked his hands, shaking off all the water droplets. He walked out of the kitchen and untied his apron. He knew he was a very fussy person, always worrying about this and that, always wanting to handle things better.
But there was no helping it. This was who he was now, and he wasn't planning to change his nature. Fussy was fussy then; because this was his Way, this was his path.
If one couldn't even face their own true nature, if one was unwilling to acknowledge it, then what was the point of cultivating immortality, what was the point of pursuing the Way?
That would only turn one into a certain whale that, even after reincarnating, would still wear an unhappy expression.
...So who was this reincarnated, unhappy whale from his mories? His jumbled mories were truly too nurous.
And yet, among so many mories, not a single fragnt contained information about this world. It was hard to say this was purely accidental.
"Could it be..."
Just as Xin Yu couldn't help but ponder why he had no mory fragnts related to this world, Kiana and Raiden i's voices ca from upstairs. It seed Kiana wanted to take a bath with Raiden i.
This sudden sound interrupted Xin Yu's thoughts. He frowned, suddenly unable to recall what his train of thought had been just monts ago.
Pushing the doubt from his mind, Xin Yu glanced at the clock on the wall and decided to go to bed early. After all, tomorrow was technically his first day of class in this world. He had to maintain a good routine. Although he didn't need sleep now, sleeping early and waking up early was still the proper conduct for a student. Since he had agreed to be a good student, he had to follow through.
"Kiana! Don't ss around!"
Saying so, Xin Yu headed upstairs.
...
"Has the chip failed?"
Cocolia had been incredibly busy these past few days. Because the plan had gone awry, leading to the failure to achieve the objective—the Third Herrscher was not captured—the mid-to-high-level mbers of her faction had begun to question her.
Even so lower-level personnel, due to the sacrifices made with no gains because of her aggressive actions, had begun to doubt her, causing her status and authority to be greatly diminished.
Furthermore, the higher-ups from other countries, upon learning of her actions, had strongly condemned her and even imposed economic sanctions. At the sa ti, those two old geezers from the conservative faction had used this opportunity to reclaim most of her authority within Anti-Entropy.
It was only now that Cocolia had temporarily dealt with those troubleso matters and stabilized her position.
Cocolia still hadn't given up on the Third Herrscher she had created. Upon learning that the target had been taken by Schicksal and was currently studying at St. Freya Academy in the Far East Branch, Cocolia felt she still had a chance.
Most of the combat power in that school consisted of students and so teachers retired from the front lines. Even with the forr Schicksal S-rank Valkyrie, Theresa Apocalypse, she alone wouldn't be able to turn the tide.
Now, Cocolia needed to gather all the forces at her disposal and launch a surprise attack on Schicksal's Far East Branch. She absolutely had to retrieve that Third Herrscher!
Originally, when Cocolia learned that her daughter was also at St. Freya Academy, she had wanted to use the chip implanted in her brain to control her. However, she discovered there was no signal from the chip; it was highly probable that it had been removed or destroyed.
Well, since internal coordination wouldn't work, then a direct assault it would be. She still had clones created from the Herrscher of Reason's DNA. Although they were certainly weaker than a true Herrscher, they would be more than enough to deal with a Third Herrscher who hadn't even matured yet, and had perhaps even been crippled midway.
To be safe, Cocolia decided to bring more than one clone this ti, and also all the chs she could consolidate.
This wave! Advantage, mine!
