The rocking of the ship began to feel comforting, at least when Veronica was trying sleep. The beds themselves, not as comfortable than what she was used to. Though, she was about to get herself so sleep, drifting off, closer and closer. Until there was a handful of large booms, the ship rocked back at lot more than usual, and the was a new large lead ball in the next room.

Veronica got up and quickly went up top to see what was going on. The ship was under attack by what could only be another group of pirates, seeing as they weren't flying any identifying colors.

"Load them with chain shot, take down their mast!" Rena barked orders as she took the helm, attempting to out maneuver the enemy.

"Why are they attacking us?" Veronica asked, trying find a safe spot.

"Why not? So pirates just like the thrill. Doesn't matter." Rena replied, concentrating on steering.

The crew had launched their cannons, aiming accurately at the other ship's mast. While there was quite a bit of damage, the mast hadn't gone down.

"Damn! Load them again. Hit the damn thing this ti!"

The opposing ship had launched their own cannons. Just simply the solid balls, tearing more holes through the hull.

"Aren't you worried about the damage?"

"She won't sink. She'll fill with water, but she won't go under."

The cannons roared once more, chain shot successfully ripped through the ships mast, collapsing it to the deck and nearly immobilizing the ship.

"Get ready to board!" Rena ordered, steering the ship towards the enemy.

Of course, it wouldn't be that simple, as arrows had been shot towards the Old rmaid, volley after volley. Only one crewmate was hit, and it was just a minor injury. But the ship was finally close enough for the crew to anchor the two ships together.

Then, everyone boarded the enemy ship, Rena included. It went from the sound of gunpowder exploding, to the sound of clashing steel. Veronica attempted to join, but it was a thin way across, and the deep blue sea beneath her.

She eventually jumped across and joined in the fight, though the crew had it mostly done by the ti Veronica jumped in. In fact, shortly after she jumped over, the enemy crew had started to surrender.

Half the crew went down to search for valuables, and the other half pulled security.

"Rena, are we done?"

"For now. Why did you hesitate coming over? I thought you were supposed to be a trained warrior."

"I uh... don't know how to swim. I was scared about... falling in."

"You... don't know how to swim?"

"No. I was practically dying until shortly before I attended the academy. And I was never any close to swimmable water, so..."

"Hm. Cute." Rena said with a serious tone, and a rather similar grin to a certain raven haired witch.

There was plenty of loot on board the ship. More specifically, very valuable loot.

"Thirty tons of sugar, ten barrels of rum, fifty tons of exotic spices, and enough loose money to pay everyone on board for a year."

Rena whistled in response. "That's a good haul."

"What do you want to do with the survivors."

"Whatever you want. Rape the won, kill the n, I don't care. If you want to bring the aboard, keep them in the brig."

"That's... that doesn't sound okay."

"You naive little girl. We're pirates. We do not care. Anyway, let's get back to our shup and get ready to return to our journey."

"R-Right..."

Perhaps Veronica hasn't seen enough of the real world to really understand it. And here she thought that the Angels were the only issue.
