Chapter 345: Chapter 226: The Greatest Debate in History (4000 Words Begging for Subscription)

“Mr. Chu, forgive for being blunt, but just with us sitting here, the idea of increasing the average human lifespan to ninety or a hundred years old is unrealistic!”

In the multidia classroom, at the very front row near the right-hand side, a clean-cut and handso middle-aged man spoke clearly and loudly.

Chu Mo, who had already put on the translation headset, naturally understood the aning of the words.

He was well-aware of this middle-aged man, who had been rated as one of the greatest scientists in the world. To solely recruit him to Hua Country, Chu Mo had paid a trendous price. Even with the huge influence of the Rothschild family, Chu Mo still invested several billion in funding.

For such a world-class titan, even Chu Mo had to address him with care and caution.

At the multidia classroom podium, Chu Mo, with his hands on the desk, fixed his gaze on the Caucasian man and said with a sincere tone and a serious look:

“Mr. Fleming, any scientific achievent is built upon continual failures and summaries, gradually improving until the correct answer is found. Here, I don’t want to feed everyone with the poison of false success; in this regard, you are the experts. However, once a research direction is set, if we aren’t even willing to attempt it and imdiately deny it, isn’t that a bit too hasty?”

Chu Mo’s face radiated sincerity on the podium. Unfortunately, what he lacked was the commanding presence that compelled obedience, so as his words ended, opposition imdiately arose!

In the front row of the classroom, in the center, an older black man with a face full of age spots softly spoke:

“Mr. Chu, I am not opposing for the sake of opposition. Indeed, human scientific progress is achieved through continuous exploration and fumbling, but the subject of longevity is too vast and too vague. The experintal ti required might span ten years or even several decades before yielding results.

Personally, I am already eighty-two years old, and my remaining life may not be more than a few years. If I use these remaining years to contribute in my own field, I can create greater value. If I set aside my current work and fully commit to exploring the secret of longevity, I may gain nothing in these few years, and that is the reason for my opposition!”

As the elderly man with age spots finished speaking, the entire multidia classroom erupted once again with a flurry of noisy discussions.

Various voices of opposition and skepticism were equally unceasing.

Chu Mo, standing at the front podium, did not stop the people’s discussion; he quietly listened, then silently observed everyone’s reactions.

In the multidia classroom, there were a total of forty-two top scientists. Of them, eleven explicitly opposed the project. These individuals were not very keen on coming to Hua Country in the first place but were compelled by the enormous pressure from the Rothschild family and various social connections.

Besides those eleven, there were about a dozen who remained neutral, and fourteen who unequivocally supported the longevity research.

The reason Chu Mo convened this debate was to unify the forty-two top scientists’ opinions, to align all their beliefs into one, and to completely suppress the opposing voices.

Otherwise, even if the experint proceeded forcefully, it was estimated that achieving results would be fraught with difficulties.

The discussion beneath the podium continued, with several of the top scientists in their respective fields expressing their opinions—so steady and calm, others passionate and fervent.

Chu Mo took a deep breath at the podium, adjusted the gold glasses on the bridge of his nose, then turned and walked toward the middle-aged man in the audience.

As one of today’s six greatest scientists in the world, the forty-six-year-old Mr. Fleming was in the pri of his life. He was the youngest among the scientists present and also the most legendary.

As Chu Mo approached Fleming, the latter ceased his conversation with the elderly man in the wheelchair. Chu Mo nodded gently to the chief scientist from Germany and then focused his gaze on the middle-aged man, feeling a bit sentintal before speaking softly:

“Mr. Fleming, as you are opposed to this plan, could you please share your reasons?”

Mr. Fleming, with his clear face and a pair of light blue eyes, sat up straight. His pure and flawless blue eyes gently t Chu Mo’s as he said earnestly:

“First of all, I am not against this research. On the contrary, I admire Mr. Chu for your courage and determination. Looking globally, there are few who can commit a trillion in assets to dical research in one go; besides Mr. Chu, even the head of the Rothschild family might not have such boldness.

So, I have great respect for you, Mr. Chu. As for the opposition…Mr. Chu, what I hope you understand is that the extension of human lifespan does not rely solely on a major breakthrough or invention in a single field, but on the collective progress of all human technology, providing enough strength to support the increase in human lifespan.”

The middle-aged man’s words settled, leaving Chu Mo sowhat silent. He did not hastily object. In front of this world-class authority, his own knowledge and level were simply not enough. To debate academic matters with this top scientist would be akin to showing off one’s amateurish skills in front of an expert.

Chu Mo nodded softly, turning his gaze to the elderly man in the wheelchair beside him. According to previous investigations, this chief scientist from Germany was supportive of the longevity research project. If anyone could debate with Mr. Fleming on professional grounds, it would be this highly esteed elder.
