"Who...?" They gulped, not knowing if it was the right choice to know my identity or not. "Who are you?"

Once again, I scoffed.

"I can’t believe this. Did you really think Chairman Jin-Yeok would appear in public with soone beneath him?" I let out a soft laugh, the kind that was ant to sting at their hearts with uneasiness. "My daddy would definitely have your heads if he heard you call a pet." I added, and they flinched, fear gripping their faces even when I hadn’t even ntioned who my daddy was.

In a battle of wits, victory always goes to the smartest and most composed.

You couldn’t even tell if they were lying because they sounded so confused, so rattled, and so inexperienced.

"Anyway, my daddy would never allow to stay at soone’s side unless they were of equal worth. He and Jin-Yeok have already agreed on that much," I said and laughed.

One of them frowned, the uneasiness in his face crawling like veins, connecting the sweat beads forming on his forehead.

"Your... father?"

"Oh? What’s this?" I smiled, tilting my flute, letting the bubbles sparkle in the golden light as though they were jewels only I could afford. "Do you need to have him call Jin-Yeok right now? He tends to get... unpleasant when people try to undermine ." My voice softened like silk over steel. "And I assure you, he knows how to make life very, very inconvenient. There were a few... experiences... in the past." I rolled my eyes elegantly away from them and back, giving them as much hint as they needed.

Oh my, this was so fun.

Just watching their expressions, playing with them, and getting them to stiffen from the ntion of my imaginary powerful daddy made feel like I could get away with anything.

The man who had spoken first and called a pet had completely gone pale, his mouth opening then closing uncertainly, and his eyes shaking like he was an addict going through withdrawal.

He was already regretting so much from just a few words.

If I had to guess, then he wasn’t anyone very important. If he was, he would be confident in using his own connections to get out of this ss.

But then, even his own connections couldn’t get him out of Jin-Yeok’s clutches, not to talk of soone who could control said Jin-Yeok. He was done for.

The other two quickly raised their glasses, murmuring apologies before things got out of hand.

This was very fun.

"Ah, but there’s no need to panic," I said smoothly, plucking a canapé from the tray and popping it into my mouth. "I prefer diplomacy. My daddy always says the higher you climb, the more dangerous it is to pick the wrong fight. Don’t you agree?" I asked, and they rolled their eyes away, unable to make eye contact. "Best to hold onto the strongest ship instead of trying to sink it, don’t you agree?"

They nodded vigorously, one even stamring,

"O-Of course. T-those are such wise words."

"Mm," I humd, swallowing my bite without care.

To them, I probably looked like a pampered young master who knew so much of the world but didn’t care and liked to brag a lot.

Doing whatever I wanted without consequence.

Only calling Jin-Yeok by na already showed how deep my relationship was with him.

Then, I lowered my voice and waved my hand a bit, just enough to make them lean closer. And then I added,

"Jin-Yeok happens to adore and would never condone anyone disrespecting . But he also said I should let him know if soone tries anything with . My daddy also. He placed in Jin-Yeok’s care with full trust." I giggled. "So tell ... which side do you think I should tattle to?"

The three of them gulped and I grinned.

I succeeded in instilling fear in their hearts so much that they couldn’t even say a word.

Then, I laughed.

"Well, I forgive you for your little slip-up since you apologized on ti." I twirled my glass.

"Ah, we are imnsely grateful for your generosity," they said, bowing vigorously, and I grinned.

See? The socialite life was not a big deal after all.

"Shall we change the topic of discussion now? It’s been a while since I attended a party since I couldn’t be bothered by any of it. I’m only here because Jin-Yeok asked to be his partner, and he’s just too handso to disappoint, you know. Even my daddy knows I have a weak spot for him, so he makes sure to support Jin-Yeok with all he has and..."

Blah, blah, blah... I went on and on, bragging about things that did not exist, but it was true in most parts.

Jin-Yeok asking to co with him was real, and he definitely did adore . Hehe.

By the ti Jin-Yeok returned, the three weren’t the only ones gathered around . Sohow, a small crowd had ford, all listening intently as I spun tales of my travels abroad, sumring by the coast on my large yacht, and fighting off suitors from noble families who couldn’t possibly compare to Jin-Yeok abroad.

I ca all the way to Korea because he was my type.

They hung on every word, laughing when I laughed, nodding when I made sweeping statents about politics and fashion as though I had dined with royalty my whole life.

And when Jin-Yeok approached, his sharp gaze swept over the crowd... only to find at the center of it, my glass raised mid-gesture as I declared,

"...and really, daddy insists that Jin-Yeok is the only one who can handle . And he’s right, of course. He spoils endlessly."

The crowd chuckled politely, so even sighing as if they wished they were . My life was all they ever wanted.

Jin-Yeok’s brow lifted ever so slightly at my remark. And then his lips curved in quiet amusent, having understood the situation.

He slid through the crowd like water, reclaiming his place at my side with ease as he slid his arm around my waist and pressed his face against mine.

"Having fun?" he murmured, and I turned my face to his.

When did he get back?

Ah, no. If I act awkward now, they’ll see through my lie. So, I decided to act as naturally and hugged him.

"I missed you in the short ti we were apart," I said and felt him flinch. He probably didn’t expect that. "What took you so long?"

Co on, don’t falter. Just respond like an obsessed master.

"Sorry, I had a few things to deal with, but..." He brushed his hand over my face, cupped it, and said, "I’m all yours for the rest of the night."

His words made smile. I smiled at heart, too.

That ant I wouldn’t need to keep up this exhausting act.

Though it was fun, at so point it beca quite exhausting and boring since there was no new reaction.

The crowd parted respectfully, offering polite bows and quick complints as we walked away together. We looked good together, so said. And that was the main thing in their complints.

It wasn’t until long after we were gone that one of the n blinked, realization dawning quite late.

"Wait, he talked about his father so much but... He never said who his father was.
