(Welco to the special edition of ’Trapped In A Novel’ with yours truly, Jo-Pil, as the star once more. We’re taking the point of high schoolers, so look forward to it.)

"Phew," I sighed after putting in the last book I had to keep in my locker and then I shut my locker, but as soon as I did, I saw soone standing beside and I scread inwardly.

I couldn’t show I was startled because I was trying to keep this neutral stance where I appeared to be a very boring person with a boring reaction.

"Hi, I heard you’re new." It was a girl with braces and pretty freckles on her face.

Despite her braces and freckles, she looked really pretty.

’I wish I had freckles.’ I thought.

I recovered from the shock very quickly.

"I hope I didn’t startle you." She said but I shook my head.

"No, it’s fine."

"Cool. So, I was told by the principal to be your guide." She said and judging from the first impression, she looked like she was the chatty type. So, I might not need to ask anything before she explains it.

I guess that works out. I don’t have to talk then.

"Welco to Steven High, newbie. My na is Cha Hye-Jin and I’ll be your guide."

I nodded.

My goal in this school was to act like a wallflower, bury my original character, and not stand out so that I could graduate early without any problems and not trouble my father, who is living like a servant.

And to do that, I can’t just ’act’ like a wallflower, I have to ’be’ a wallflower.

I dropped my hair so it could cover most of my face. Well, my eyes especially since they attracted a lot of attention.

I don’t an to brag, but I have an appearance that can attract just about anyone, and my eyes, which had the color of brown but looked like gold under the sun, were a great contribution to that.

Anyway, since my eyes were covered with my hair, I wore glasses so that my hair wouldn’t fall into my eyes. I wasn’t used to having my hair cover my face, after all, so I would have a little problem walking.

’Great. So long as I don’t attract attention and always mind my business, everything will go fine.’

"Co, I’ll take you on a tour around the school." She said and I nodded, following her with my bag over my shoulder.

I also fixed my walking style and walked with my back crouched a bit. I’m not very used to it but I’m doing my best.

It makes look la.

Yes, the perfect image.

And do you want to know why I’m going through all this trouble?

"This school is the most prestigious in this country."

That’s why. For soone like , who was no different from a pauper, to be in this school, I had two options to live here: One was pretending to be rich like everyone else and blend in but I can’t exactly keep up that lifestyle with my father’s budget and my asly part ti pay check.

So, I opted for the second, which was to live like a wallflower that even the rich would not be interested in. If I’m a wallflower, I’d be next to invincible.

There’s sothing about these rich kids. They like to pick on the poor and exact their dominance so if I try to live normally with no money to show forth, they’ll definitely pick on for being inferior and trying to stand on the sa floor as them.

If I crawl on the wall instead, they would mind and leave alone.

That’s what I deduced after observing for about a month.

I worked as a janitor in this school for a month to map out the possible routes I could take if I wanted to escape being in the eyes of the public, and I also took note of the rumors that were going around.

Among those rumors, there was one I particularly took an interest in. The one I wished not to get involved in, no matter what.

"Now that the tour is over, I think you can take it from here." Hye-Jin said to , smiling nicely and I nodded.

We stopped at the cafeteria and by the looks of it, everyone had fallen into groups of hierarchy.

There were those who were in this school on a scholarship program and were being treated as outcasts, nonetheless.

So were less wealthy than others. And then, there was the very rich. The ones whose parents had business empires leading the country.

But... What was with those four chairs up front that made it seem like they were four thrones?

I never had cafeteria duty during my ti as a janitor so I don’t really know what has been going on in the cafeteria.

’I guess I’ll find out little by little.’ I thought.

"Hm, it’s kind of weird that the principal asked to guide you around the school. Are you perhaps soone very influential?"

I expected that question. The principal didn’t have to go far for soone like whose father was rely a servant.

But then, don’t you find it funny that soone like , who’s rely a servant’s son, can attend such a prestigious school?

"Oh, that’s right." She slamd he fist on her palm, looking at with twinkling eyes. "If you don’t mind asking, I’d like to know sothing about you."

’Please, I mind a lot so please don’t ask.’ I shook my head, indicating I did mind, but she took that as saying I don’t mind.

"Oh good, I’ll ask then." She said but my eyebrows furrowed. If only she could see it. "Are you an Oga or Beta?"

Ugh, this was one question I was planning to avoid at all costs.

Hye-Jin looked like the kind of person who carried news around a lot and she would definitely end up going around, telling others that I was an Oga if I told her about it.

So, I decided to lie.

"Beta." I said and she slumped.

"Oh, that’s too bad." She said but then raised her head. "But it’s also good luck, I guess. You won’t catch ’their’ eyes because of this."

I looked at her confused. What did she an by that?

And whose eyes was I catching?

Wait, don’t tell ...

"Shhh, they’re here." Soone shushed the noisy cafeteria and Hye-Jin pulled to the side.

"Co, you can’t get in their way." She said and then I turned to the door, curious about the ’they’ everyone was referring to.

Just who had the power to silence a hall filled with rich brats who could only bend to power?

And my question was answered right away as four handso junks walked into the cafeteria like they had no care in the world.

"In case you don’t know," Hye-Jin said to in whispers. "There’s a common rule that we all obey and that rule will save you in this school."

A rule, she said.

A rule that everyone, irrespective of position, gender, and status, followed. Wasn’t it interesting?

"And that rule is, ’Never cross the Alphas’."
