He Lianyu suddenly asked Xia Ke.

Xia Ke nodded nonchalantly: "Yes, my surna is Xia, so what?"

He Lianyu then said, "There aren’t many families with the surna Xia in the Dayong Capital City. Do you know the General’s Mansion? Do you have any relation to Lin Yuan, the Princess of Pingxi, the boss of Dong Tian?"

The General’s Mansion is indeed Xia Ke’s family, and the boss of Dong Tian, Princess Pingxi, is none other than her mother Lin Yuan.

Xia Ke’s eyes shifted, naturally unwilling to admit her identity in front of him, she countered with a question: "Why? Do you know soone from the Xia Mansion?"

He Lianyu remained silent, just watching her.

Xia Ke shrugged, having no choice but to compromise: "It’s fine to tell you, but you have to tell too; that’s only fair. Actually, my parents were once slaves at the Xia Mansion, so naturally, I followed their surna. But I’m just a nobody, nowhere near as precious as the masters of the Xia Mansion. Alright, now it’s your turn to speak. Do you know soone from the Xia Mansion? Who do you know? Xia Zheng? Xia Zhen? Or Xia Yuan, Xia Hen? Or maybe Xia Lang, Xia Yu?"

Xia Lang and Xia Yu are indeed Xia Ke’s two brothers, Ah Jin and Ah Yin.

He Lianyu stared fixedly at Xia Ke, clearly discerning the truth of her words.

But Xia Ke wasn’t one to be easily fooled, standing there earnestly, blinking her big eyes, appearing guilt-free.

After a long ti, He Lianyu finally looked away, seemingly convinced of her words: "I’m not looking for the n of the Xia family, I’m looking for Lin Yuan, the Princess of Pingxi."

Looking for her mother?

This surprised Xia Ke even more. He Lianyu was obviously a foreigner, handso, with an extraordinary deanor, evidently not an ordinary person.

Such a person clearly wasn’t a businessman, so what did he want with her mother?

Could it be that her parents had so romantic affairs while traveling, and now he was here to settle the score?

The gossip genes instantly surged throughout her body, making Xia Ke feel jittery all over, her eyes brightened with curiosity.

"Why are you looking for her? Have you t her? Where did you et? When? Could it be that you found her so beautiful that she’s unforgettable to you? Aren’t you afraid Xia Zheng will tear you apart for coming to her so openly?"

It’s widely known how much Xia Zheng adores his wife, not just in the Capital city but probably all across Dayong.

He Lianyu initially intended to answer her questions, but he was surprised by the end. What did "unforgettable" an? Why would he be "torn apart"? Had he committed so unspeakable act to deserve such treatnt?

Looking at Xia Ke’s gossipy eyes, He Lianyu finally understood her aning and couldn’t help but laugh: "You’re overthinking it! I have no relation with Madam Xia and haven’t t her. I’m here in Dayong just to deliver a ssage, as my mother wishes to see her."

So that’s the reason!

Xia Ke’s gossipy eyes instantly dimd, but she quickly perked up with another thought: "Your mother wants to et her? For what reason? By the way, where are you from? How does your mother know Madam Xia?"

He Lianyu frowned: "Aren’t your questions a bit too much? Do you happen to know Madam Xia?"

Cough, cough!

Xia Ke hurriedly waved her hand in denial: "I don’t know, I don’t know."

"How could you not know? Brother Xia, how could you not know the Princess of Pingxi?"

Liangzi, lying on the bed resting, suddenly raised his head and interjected.

"Liangzi!"

Xia Ke was anxious: "I don’t know her! How could a little beggar like know the Princess of Pingxi? Stop talking nonsense!"

But Liangzi disagreed: "Not true, Brother Xia, don’t you rember last year at the Dongtian entrance when you led us to receive porridge, you kept praising the Princess of Pingxi for her kindness and beauty!"

"Did I? Did such a thing happen?"

Xia Ke secretly sighed in relief, nearly revealing herself!

He Lianyu raised an eyebrow and said to Xia Ke: "Might the young master Xia guide ? I just followed you here and can’t find my way back, could you kindly lead to the Xia Mansion?"

Lost? Only a fool would believe that!

Actually, Xia Ke didn’t want to take him, but considering he was tasked with finding her mother, she feared delaying sothing important for her mother and reluctantly agreed.

After instructing Liangzi to rest well, Xia Ke left the dilapidated temple with He Lianyu. Midway, they encountered other little beggars returning from begging at Dong Tian. Xia Ke rembered leaving Liangzi alone when he went to the toilet, so he instructed one of the older boys not to leave Liangzi alone in the temple.
