Chapter 2106: Chapter 9: Coming Ho
Xia Yuan was still chatting with his newly t little buddy. Although he thought the other was a little beggar, it was strange because he didn’t feel that the person was dirty or unpleasant at all.
“My na is Xia Yuan, what’s yours?”
“? I don’t have a na.”
“How can you not have a na? What does that old beggar, cough, cough, old Taoist call you?”
“Him? He never called by any na.”
The little beggar was being honest. The old Taoist had always been alone, and only the little beggar was around him.
Even if they didn’t call each other by na when talking, they knew who the other was addressing.
Xia Yuan shrugged, feeling he should stop being hung up on the na, otherwise they’d have nothing to say.
“Ah, so why did you co to my house? Is there sothing?”
Xia Yuan didn’t know the old Taoist, although he often heard Xia Geng and Ran Qing talking about how the old Taoist took away his brother. But in his little mind, the old Taoist was absolutely a good person saving people from distress, and his brother went out with the old Taoist to get cured and enjoy life.
He couldn’t even imagine that the old Taoist was just an old beggar, and his brother who went out to enjoy life had beco the little beggar in front of him.
The little beggar used his dirty little hand to continue fiddling with the clump of dirt in front of him, shrugged, and said casually, “I suppose there’s sothing. That old guy says this is my ho, and he’s bringing back.”
“Oh, so he’s bringing you ho? I know… Cough, cough, cough!”
Little Xia Yuan coughed violently like a bouncing ball from the ground, nearly shouting with a broken voice, “What did you say? This is your ho? How could this be your ho! Who are you? Who are you?”
The little beggar looked up sowhat indifferently. His little face was dirty and indistinguishable, but his eyes were very bright and particularly beautiful.
“This is my ho! You, you wouldn’t be that silly brother the old guy ntioned, would you?”
Silly brother? Silly brother!
Xia Yuan swore this was the most heartbreaking and piercing thing he had heard in his six years. A silly brother — he wasn’t silly at all!
The little guy’s cries quickly caught the adults’ attention, and Xia Geng, eager to avoid the old Taoist’s lingering sll, rushed over first, excitedly shaking the little beggar by the shoulders: “Big Pimple? You’re really Big Pimple? Oh my, you’re still alive! Dad thought, Dad thought you were already…”
Big Pimple?
The little beggar, nearly dizzy from being shaken, suddenly felt a wave of nausea, thinking incredulously of the na he had yearned for over the past three years — Big Pimple? How could soone so smart, adorable, and handso as himself be related to Big Pimple?
Right then, Ran Qing heard Xia Geng’s shouts and gave up chasing the old Taoist, running over in one swift motion and staring at the dirty little beggar for a while before shaking her head vigorously: “Him? How could he be my son? My son is very beautiful. This child, could the old Taoist, fearing our pursuit, just grab any random child from outside?”
Dream on, thinking it’s easy to randomly pick up a child!
The old Taoist, panting heavily under pursuit, staggered over, slumped down next to the little beggar, and pointed, “This is definitely your son, no mistake!”
Ran Qing still didn’t believe it. For a mother who had yearned for her son for years, seeing her son return was naturally a great joy. But she wasn’t longing for her son so much that she’d mistake soone else’s for her own.
She wasn’t afraid to recognize another child as hers, but she feared making a mistake, that her real son would continue to suffer outside.
She didn’t want that kind of mistake anymore; she truly couldn’t take it!
Pulling out her handkerchief, Ran Qing started wiping the little beggar’s dirty face right there.
But his face was so filthy that the handkerchief beca dirty beyond asure, and his face still wasn’t clean.
In her urgency, Ran Qing gave up on the handkerchief, lifted her skirt, spat a large mouthful of saliva on her skirt, and began wiping her child’s face directly.
The little beggar wrinkled his face. Clearly, he found the saliva repugnant, but sohow, he couldn’t bear to push away this woman urgently wiping his face.
This woman was beautiful, her body slled sweet, much sweeter than the pills the old Taoist gave him.
He really just wanted to plunge into her arms and have a sweet, comfortable nap!
“My son?”
Ran Qing finally cleaned the little beggar’s face. What appeared before her was a lean boy with clean and delicate features and eyes flashing, reminiscent of young Xia Yuan.
However, Xia Yuan at three years old had been plump and mischievous.
And the small boy in front of her was so skinny, his cheeks hollowed.
Ran Qing felt a pain in her heart, hugging the faintly odorous child tightly, her tears instantly soaking the boy’s face.
“Big Pimple, my precious Pimple! Mother finally waited for you to co back! Am I dreaming, my Big Pimple!”
Imrsed in the woman’s fragrance and tenderness, the little beggar almost fainted — Big Pimple? Mother, can you choose another na!
The news of the young son’s safe return imdiately spread throughout the General Mansion. At this point, Ran Qing was preoccupied with holding her son and smiling foolishly, disregarding everything else. She even forgot to change her son’s dirty clothes.
Yet Xia Geng didn’t forget, arranging to send the good news to Ran Family Castle while ordering preparations for a feast to thank the old Taoist. Naturally, he didn’t forget to instruct servants to prepare bathing items for the young son’s cleaning.
“I’ll co, I’ll co, I’ll personally do it!”
With her son finally back, Ran Qing naturally didn’t wish to part from him, not letting the three-year-old leave her arms even for a mont.
The old Taoist sat in the chair with his dirty horsetail whisk, gulping the finest Longjing tea, and said leisurely, “No need to rush so much. I ca back this ti to send him ho. Don’t worry, I won’t take him away again!”
Big Pimple stiffened, turning his head to look at the old Taoist — he wasn’t taking him away? Was he ant to go alone?
Usually complaining he was dirty, slly, and crazy, yet now facing separation, why did his heart feel so reluctant?
